    For me.

    1) Going to the Gang Green forums and reading the Jets fans’ reactions to coach Gase. It’s a salt mine.

    2) Watching Zac Taylor fail as a HC in Cinci. I’m usually “thanks for the service and hope you do well in your next job” kind of guy, but Zac Taylor has been gifted coaching positions in the NFL well beyond what he was qualified for (QB coach in Miami because he was the OC’s son in law, HC in Cinci because he was on Sean McVay’s staff) so it makes me feel good when someone who has leapfrogged over other more deserving candidates fail. For me its says all you need to know about his coaching when he left the Dolphins after being QB coach for 4 years that the first thing the ‘phins did was hire a “QB whisperer” HC.

Honestly, I’ve enjoyed watching them strip away all the dead weight and seeing this team, with barely any resources, learn how to compete. How many years has our OL struggled in spite of major resources spent in the draft? Then 2 weeks ago they get accolades with a rag tag group.

It’s also been fun watching younger players develop.

Unfortunately there's a damn good chance that NE goes undefeated this season and we are so focused on sucking that we can't even try to stop them like we did Chicago in "85". I don't see anybody that can stop them with anything other than a fluke game.

The Dolphins are competing, which is more than I expected out of a gutted roster. I'm looking at tonight's game with a little hope anyway...they probably won't win, but it doesn't feel impossible anymore either. I think that's a best case scenario for what unfolded during the offseason.

First of all, the purging of the roster was liberating. Just looking at the contracts that we had on the books gave me a headache. I think getting rid of them all at once was the right move.

I think that Chad O'Shea has done an exceptional job. Our line is historically good, and to me, our offense has moved better than Adam Gase's offense. We are scoring a lot of points, but we are moving the ball. I think his play calling is indicative of a guy who understands his players and their limitations. With Gase, it always felt like he was coaching and designing a game plan for guys he wished were on the field.

I think that there are quite a few guys that really are making the most of their opportunity:

Mike Gesicki - He is starting to show flashes of the playmaker that we drafted and these flashes have become more and more frequent.

Mark Walton - Ballage has vastly disappointed, but Walton has picked up the dropped baton. He runs like a man with something to prove.

Preston Williams - He has been able to use his size and frame to get open, but he needs to get the drops under control. I'm looking to see more consistency out of him going forward.

Taco Charleton - I thought that he was a lost cause, but he keeps winding up on the stat sheet. I definitely think he has a future in Miami. Whether that is a starter or a rotational guy remains to be seen. I'm super excited to see the rest of the season play out for him.

Evan Boehm - Last week was a solid week for him. Looking forward to see if his strong outing was an anomaly or there is more to come. It would be awesome if a preseason trade for very little results in a starter.

Vince Beigel - This was essentially a throwaway player from the Saints. On several occasions, he has looked explosive and disruptive.

Raekwon McMillian - This is the first "Patriots way" I am seeing out of coach Flo. He has carved out a specialized niche and Raekwon has really made the most out of it.

Will all of these players pan out? Probably not, but I am seeing these guys develop and it has been fun to watch.

I was honestly expected our defense to be more respectable with Flores, and at this point it is disappointing. Last week he busted out some exotic formations, and I thought that was impressive. I am hoping that we see more of that going forward.

Finally, I am looking to see if they get better at adjusting at the half. This is one area that I am super critical of the entire coaching staff. We have fairly regularly played 30 minutes of solid football, but we just get worked at halftime. I really want to see us put two solid halves together.

When did we do that? Tunsil? He fell right in our lap and they had to take him. They undervalued both guard spots for years trying to plug it with aging veterans and poorly scouted later round picks. Just because we had a couple 1st round tackles out there doesn't mean we spent major resources on the position group.

They really haven't played anyone yet. How they got that cupcake schedule is beyond me. They are finally getting into the meat of their games so we will see what happens going forward. I will say their defense has been looking real strong.

Jake Long-1 Mike Pouncey-1, Dallas Thomas- 3, Billy Turner-2, Laremy Tunsil- 1, Jonathan Martin- 2, Ja’Wuan James- 1, John Jerry-3 over the last 10-11 years. All those picks in the top 3 rounds and we haven’t fielded one dominant or even top tier OL.

With our current OL, the highest pick was a 3rd rounder and they graded out very favorably recently. My point isn’t about spending resources or not, really more to see what coaching can do with ragtag talent.

Frankly, I don't think they can evaluate O line talent. Other than guys that have fallen like manna from heaven who the heck have they drafted that actually panned out?
