Anyone that is upset because Miami won today needs to reevaluate their priorities. FTJ, I hope we beat them twice.

It's hard to see that and not be happy for the team.

There's an old proverb, "the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to those with knowledge, but time and chance happen to them all."

We don't know what will happen next week, nor at the end of the season, nor in the draft, nor with the careers of any future player or coach. We can make predictions, consider our judgements, and set our strategies, but as the proverb above teaches, and in the words of the NFL - any given Sunday.

What will happen with the Dolphins is unknown. Ross has given Grier and Flores the rights to rebuild the team from scratch. Grier is working to acquire picks and build the roster in the way that they want to build it and Flores is coaching this team to be winners. If they do that with commitment, character and to the best of their abilities, and if the players train hard, play hard and do try to win, we can't hope for any more - and we should be proud. The future, in truth, only time will tell.

I say, get behind the team, get behind the future of a rebuild, get behind every effort to win, and stand with them in hope for the future.

Anyone who thinks the draft is instantly going to cure what ails the Dolphins is living in Fantasyland. Even if we were to get EVERYTHING on Fins Fan's Christmas wish list, next year we're going 6-10, maybe 7-9...and then we're going to listen to the same old complaining yet again.

Everyone better be patient and wait for the 2021, 2022 season.

My take on it is that what we have been through was not solely for the purpose of the number 1 pick, it was to accumulate as many picks as possible so we could trade up if required and to shed as much dead weight in terms of salary - if we had lucked into the number 1 pick, so be it.
I am ecstatic that we won yesterday - I think it was on the 3YPC podcast where they said that if we went 0-16, would you want this coaching staff still here. With the win yesterday and how this team with limited talent has played over the last 5 weeks, we can say that the right staff are in place and we can get the most appropriate QB to run the system in place through the draft this year or next year, whether that is Tua or not

No it wont fix everything, but the likelihood of having the right QB goes down each pick.

There are so many bad teams we could end up picking 6th or something with both top QB gone.

They made a bad choice bringing in Gase who is actively ruining the kid. It wouldn't be a shock to see them move on from both Gase and Darnold.

Theres going to be some pissed off people when the Dolphins are in position to win next week.. jacoby Brisset will be out, Brian Hoyer is the starting qb for the colts next week. And the dolphins continue to get better each week. You all gotta face the facts, the dolphins are likely to win 4-5 games this year.

7 of the next 8 games are winnable for the dolphins including Week 17, because the Patriots are likely to rest their players if they have the seed locked.

I took a lot of heat this preseason and in week one for being 100% against the tank. I don't think it's normal to hope for your team to lose and that's not anyone's fault here- that's the situation Grier created. As you said, wins now potentially hurt us and that's freaking ******ed to ask fans to accept that...we don't watch football to root against our team.

At the same time though, I believe you're just as wrong because there's no guarantees going into the draft. An average of 50% of all 1st round picks are a bust compared to their day 1 starting grades, and it's entirely possible we end up no better than we are today...even with that huge haul of picks. Basically, we're tanking the season so Grier can roll the dice with our future and I personally hate that- if he messes up, then he's fired and that's that. But as a franchise we'll be screwed for a very long time. I'm not a gambler and it's why I've hated this path from the start...it's a HUGE gamble and the odds are stacked against this as a successful plan.

With that said, there's just as much chance for the #1 pick to bust as the #5 pick. We probably wouldn't take Chase Allen #1 overall but we probably would at #3 or #4, and currently he's the "safest" pick in the nation. So I don't even agree with you that winning football games is detrimental at this point...it just possibly takes us out of the Tank for Tua/Burrow sweepstakes. In my opinion though, we need to use our haul of picks to tighten up the trenches and protect our current/future QB...I don't want 7 more years of debate why our stud QB can't perform under heavy pressure or why we can't ever stop the run.

Whether we pick at #1 or #5 or anywhere in between, the only thing we have to root for at this point is Chris Grier not completely crippling us for another decade. Because regardless of what we got for Tunsil, Minkah, Wake or any of our former starters, someone still has to replace them AND all the other positions that we're currently weak in. That's where the real "work" comes in and we have no part of that as fans, so I'm personally rooting for wins regardless if it helps or hurts.

The way I see it, we're 7 games behind New England with 8 games remaining. I'm rooting for what I always root for...the Fins finishing the season 8-0 while the Pats finish 0-8. That's my "job" as a fan and I'm not about to stop cheering on the Fins because of Grier's version of moneyball. Because at the end of the day, Chris Grier created all of this tension among fans and he deserves your anger...not the fans or even the players/coaches who are doing what they can despite a ****-show of a season.

We got a win and avoided 0-16, but the future is still better served by having Rosen play out the rest of the season. On the slight chance he shows us something and you can focus on other positions besides QB, but more likely you give him more experience and increase his value as a #2 QB for Miami over the next couple years. It also means the Phins probably won't win more than 1-2 more games the rest of the season and maybe none at all.

I don't necessarily agree that Grier deserves anger. The Dolphins needed a rebuild, and this is how it's done.

Yea because in 1983 I think I would have much rather had Tony Eason or Todd Blackledge...

or in more recent drafts...JaMarcuss Russell or Matt Leinart, or Sam Bradford or any of the other highly sought quarterbacks that we’re picked either 1st or 2nd and ended up being busts.

If we are indeed eyeballing a quarterback, I sure as hell hope we have someone who knows what they’re doing. In fact, mentioning the 83 draft, Shula was smarter than the experts. They all kept telling him that Ken O’Brien was the best pick. Shula looked his staff in the eyes and told them I WANT Marino.

The rest is history...despite the experts.

No-one ever said you cant get a QB later.

The fact is though that the odds are greatly reduced the further from the top you go. Marino fell due to character concerns, not talent.

Basically what you're banking on is is finding a QB noone thinks can play at a high level and have them play at a high level.

Yes you can do that. No it's not likely and banking on it is stupid.

Every draft doesnt have a franchise QB. Everyone and their mother knew Jamarcus was a bust before he ever took the field so I dont even know why you brought him up.

Half of what you said isnt relevant or doesnt make sense logically so I wont even touch that part.

But the #1 overall pick is generally a coinflip. Isn't it 50% success rate? And even if you get Andrew Luck, you might still not win the sweepstakes because he ends being injury prone. So yeah, your odds are better, but they're far from guaranteed. Thinking that getting the #1 pick solves all our problems is not accurate.

I've already gone through this before...year by year, QB by QB that has been drafted, so why even bother again? Let's just say that you're one of those that would draft quarterback by quarterback and neglect the team's true needs.

You and those who think like you have absolutely no idea how to build a winning team and if the Dolphins were to follow your draft playbook, we'll never have another winning season again.

    Dude you're way off base.

Who here has ever suggested we draft "QB by QB" and neglect the other positions? We want to use one pick on QB.. preferably the #1 pick because that way you can guarantee you pick the QB you want most.

And why is the QB not one of the "team's true needs"? I think any one who suggests that we're neglecting the team's true needs by drafting a QB has a completely false picture of a key reason why this team has failed.

Finally, no one here has demonstrated they know how to build a winning team, and that includes you. There's also no way to know "we'll never have another winning season" if we follow the playbook we're suggesting – a playbook you seem to misunderstand.

Like I said.. you're way off base.

    You make a good point.

I will come out and say I've personally never built a winning NFL Franchise. Views and opinions expressed merely indicate what I would do, think or want if I was in that position to try and do so.

I honestly think we all, myself included, get too caught up in what other fans think.

I mean, if a guy wants a 7th round QB and I want a 1st...regardless of where we take a QB neither of us had anything to do with it.

And don't put words in Shula's mouth. That's disrespectful.

btw.. why are you still here after you said you were "done with the NFL" because they "rigged" games? It's kind of ironic in fact that you criticize a post about how we didn't "rig" games by not tanking correctly lol.

I too have never built a winning NFL franchise but the one thing they all have in common...from Vince Lombardi with the Packers, to Tom Landry with the Cowboys, to Don Shula with the Dolphins, to Chuck Noll with the Steelers to Bill Walsh with the 49ers, Jimmy Johnson, Marv Levy, Dan Reeves, Bill Cowher, Bill Belichick...they had built a strong TEAM and then got the quarterback they needed to run that team.

Bart Starr, Roger Stauback, Bob Griese, Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana, Dan Marino, Jim Kelly, John Elway, Roethlisburger, Rodgers, Brady, Luck...and so many others were all fortunate to walk onto a team that was already in place and needed a quarterback to take them to the next level.
