Sounds like he wanted to use him in a role that exploited weaknesses in opposing offenses. Minkah has athleticism and versatility through the charts but Flores probably follows the Bellicheck system of team over the individual. Sucks that Minkah didn’t buy because he’s a rare talent.

Like I've said, then we can have mediocrity again with a QB worse than Tannehill.

Also, side question, how many of you guys will still feel this way if we get steamrolled a few more times?

We beat teams that are just as bad or worse than us in their current condition. We had the better QB vs the Colts and Jets, those games arent shocking wins.

Everyone was complaining Fitzpatrick would get us a few wins and now everyone is all shocked and happy when it actually happens. I dont understand people.

The betting was we were going 0 and 16 this year. The whole tanking theory. With this ragtag bunch of unknowns and castaways we are becoming competitive. Doesn't matter about the level of competition this is the NFL. Anything can happen week to week. Look at Atlanta and New Orleans. I am still not sold on the coaching staff but something is happening. Hats for bats!

Tanking does not guarantee anything. Neither the Chiefs, Texans nor Ravens had to tank to get their franchise quarterbacks. The only one to trade up for a qb were the Bears and they got Trubiski.

and i see a handful of qb prospects this upcoming draft with a higher ceiling than Tannehill. Hell even Tua has a higher ceiling than Tannehill and i dont even like Tua.

Yeah definitely seems like I misunderstood. Still, it seems a bit silly for the guy who adopted the Swiss Army Knife narrative and rode it to a high pick, to be upset that he was being used in multiple positions. Does that not seem ridiculous to you? He was drafted high BECAUSE they were going to use him all over. That was the whole point.

If they're peeling a section of a Ross stand-up poster every time they win, I am now officially a Cleveland fan. That's way too darn kinky even for me. =)

I feel the same way though- win the whole darn thing!

Jackson wont be a long term QB in this league. Hes basically the Wildcat right now as teams learn to defend him. In 3-4 years he will be riding a bench.

Also I've pointed out several times that picking #1 only means you can take any prospect you want. QB's that last that long are a failure in evaluation by NFL teams.

Basically not wanting the top pick, or one of them, is asking other teams to fail for our success.

Chiefs traded up, as did the Ravens, and the Texans. Huston went from 25 to 12, Baltimore from 52 to 32, and KC from 27 to 10. None had to pick in the top 5 though.

I understand where you are coming from. He played multiple positions in the secondary, he even said those things himself during the height of his excitement about getting drafted. Something to the affect of "I can play multiple positions." The thing with that was, he was an Adam Gase pick. Did Flores want to use him that way? If so, from what I remember Fitzpatrick primarily played in the slot corner position his rookie season and did a damn fine job at it.
I think Fitzpatrick unknowingly contradicted himself or had just simply changed his mind about his role as a NFL player. To answer your question, no....It doesn't seem ridiculous to me for a person to change their mind or stance on something. I think he wanted a definite position so that he could fully prepare to play that position. I'm sure knowing how to play 2-3 different positions (even in the secondary) would require an immense amount of extra film work/preparation. Not to mention the overall body type a player is required to have to play those positions. Safeties are bigger and stronger in comparison to cornerbacks, while corners require a different type of skill set. I think the way he wanted to condition his body probably played a role as well. This is just my opinion, and if I was Minkah Fitzpatrick, I would have asked the coach to do the same. Especially with how skilled Fitzpatrick is, along with his draft status. Unfortunately I think things like that come into play with players at times...Entitlement so to speak. A walk on defensive back trying to make a team is going to play any and every position on the field if necessary whereas a first round draft pick has a bigger voice.

My only point is, the fact he could play corner/safety/linebacker was why he was drafted so high. The value was in being able to use him all over. So he wanted the high draft number and the money that came with it, but then didn't like being used like that. So how would he feel about giving his money back?

I dont think he looks at it that way though.

More likely he realizes he has the ability to play multiple spots but wants a solid spot that he can work on his technique for in the right way. He probably feels like by trying to be so many things he isnt reaching his potential at any of them.

Now if the team told him ahead of time "We will be using you at X, Y and Z, you're okay with that?"

And he was like "Yeah sounds great cant wait to be a Dolphin"

Then we drafted him.....you're 100% right.

Yeah, I mean I didn’t see any reports leading up to the draft where Minkah was disputing the Swiss Army knife narrative. It’s not like he was making it known pre-draft that he didn’t want to do that. He was on board with being used like that because it drove his draft position up. As a straight up safety or corner, do you believe he would have been drafted that high? I don’t.
