Meanwhile miamis got a noodle arm for the qb the fan base even wants to bring back for another year. lol. Can’t throw hell cant even call the corner route from tbe hash cause he can’t make the throw. Every hook route vs zone is more contested than it should be cause his arm stinks. Every vertical is a 50/50. but yeah let’s bring it back one more year. Lolz maybe we can kick 8 field goals next week
Tannehill has never played this consistently well at any point with the dolphins.. hes turned the corner in tennessee.. maybe its better coaching, better talent. Maybe hes just letting it loose knowing this may be his final shot at a starting nfl job. but you cant find those numbers hes putting up at any stretch as a Dolphin.. he was up and down.
3 of the top 4 CBs are OUT for Tennessee though...the one left is balling big time...but he's just 1 guy.
Bottom line. We waited approximately two decades for a franchise QB and when we finally got him our fans ran him out of town and we traded him for a 5th or 6th. This franchise has turned into the Cleveland Browns. From an organizational point of view this year will go down as the dumbest and worst year in the franchise history
Well the browns have a seriously overrated qb too. Not dak prescott level overrated but overrated none the less.
Its not their fault. How could they know if Thill had the permission to audible, a commitment to the ruin game and even just an average line, he'd be a Top 10 or better QB? Its not like anyone was telling these people that over and over and over and over for years and years....
I would recommend we wait a good bit longer so there can be a definitive determination of whether Tannehill’s performance is similar to or different from Andy Dalton’s 2015 season within the context of his own career, which overall is not meaningfully different from Tannehill’s. I suspect that the people on the Cincinnati Bengals’ forum were saying similar things about Dalton about midway through 2015, only to have his performance change a great deal since 2016.
We have all seen Tannehill take sacks that we feel that he shouldn’t. He can be a split second or 2 late getting out of the pocket and using his athletic ability. It would get frustrating. But I do NOT agree it’s a fatal flaw as some have said. Every QB in the National Football League has weaknesses. Tebow had a fatal flaw. Mark Sanchez has a fatal flaw. Tannehill does not. Tannehill has a weakness. He has a major weakness to Philbin/Gase built Olines and game plans. Tannehill can deliver a football like few others in the NFL can. Crosshair accuracy when on the run, flat footed or while getting head butted in the face mask. It doesn’t matter. He’s a freakin machine.
Another example here of the need for more time to determine definitively what’s happening with Tannehill. Over the past seven games, Tannehill’s average passer rating is 124.8. The league average this year is 91.2. In 2012, another quarterback produced five games in a row, each with a passer rating above 100, and an average passer rating of 119.2 during that period of time. The average passer rating in the league that year was 85.6. Would anyone like to venture a guess of who that quarterback was?
It appears that Miami decided it’s harder to find competent o line than it is franchise caliber pocket progression qb.
Can we just start looking at passing stats that don't include YAC for the QB rating, and don't include TDs that the QB doesn't throw to a receiver in the endzone? I'd like to see the actual yards thrown by QBs and TDs that are made only by the QB throwing the ball, not by the receiver running into the endzone to score.
Lol I just think ratings are fluffed by YAC and TDs that are created after passes by receivers. Would be interesting to see which QBs are throwing the most yards before YAC and most TDs WITHOUT the receiver running it in.
I’d like to see that. If those stats were calculated that way, Marino would still own the NFL record book.
I’d probably be more interested in that if the placement wasn’t spot on like every time. I mean he is putting the ball exactly where it needs to be for max rac relative to leverage, coverage, and route concept.
If taking sacks were a fatal flaw, then Kyler Murray, Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson are fatally flawed, too. They are all in the top 6 sacked.
Utter waste of time. Only thing it’s doing is screwing up our draft pick leverage for you know...a damn qb
I agree. And taking sacks is not always negated by mobile QBs. Murray, Watson and Wilson are all in the top 6 sacked. *Forgive my idiocy. This is sort of a double post of mine.*
But some of that is still a result of the receiver running the correct route, too. I understand that some RAC can be attributed to the throw...I'm just interested in what it would look like without YAC in there. Also, not terribly interested in air yards for this, because I want to see the actual yardage, not average thrown in air.
It matters because the definition of a franchise or an elite quarterback is not one who can perform exceptionally well over only a relatively small stretch of games.
I will never forget the stat from a season or two ago about Wilson, showing that Wilson was responsible for more of his sacks than any other QB.
Dude they aren’t even breaking stride lol to each his own I guess. Dropping balls to the tight end down the seam vs cover 2 on a pillow. Rolling out and throwing back across the formation darts to the proper shoulder where if he don’t catch the damn thing it’s gonna impale him. Slant routes and inside breaking routes where I mean you couldn’t hand it to him any better. just boss qb play. Period.
What that research can determine is that there have been non-elite and non-franchise quarterbacks who have performed comparably well over similar numbers of games, and then that becomes what determines whether we need to wait longer to make definitive sense of what’s happening with Tannehill. On the other hand, if that research determined that only elite and franchise quarterbacks could perform at this level over this number of games, then that same research would determine that Tannehill was in fact already elite or franchise, and there would be no need to wait any longer. So the same research can actually support one case or the other, depending on what it reveals.
Ok. I admire the fight in you. Looking up all these stats that basically tell us nothing because there are infinite variables. Who was the other player? What happened to the team around him?
That’s great information. So the question becomes, to whom among those quarterbacks is Tannehill most similar in terms of ability, and that’s why we need to wait longer, because that determination can’t definitively be made, statistically speaking, over this number of games.
The other player was Robert Griffin III. I’ll yield to anyone else who has information about his surroundings at the time.
It was RGIII and it wasn't a comparable stretch. 3 of the 5 games were with passer ratings of 102.4 and lower. That is nearly 30 points lower than Tannehill's low for the stretch.
I'm not saying it because of anything to do with Tannehill. I know he's hitting them in stride. I'm simply saying, I'd like to see what that would look like, just for kicks.
