After today's big win, I feel like these boys are really coming together. I do not think the winning is over by any stretch of the imagination. That being said, I think we could draft outside the top 5.

I think that it is really time to start thinking about "plan B."

Let me be clear that the first part of "Plan B" is to try and move up to select a franchise QB. But let me also be clear, we should absolutely not be held hostage. I'm just not willing to give up the farm for Burrow, and Tua is now a medical question. I think that we need to be willing to walk away from deals for both of these guys.

First and foremost, I would be willing to go with Fitzmagic + Rosen for one more year. It sounds like Rosen is coming around and has earned the praise of Flores. I honestly thought that he looked pretty good this year when he played except for the Redskins game - that was ugly. Fitz has exceeded expectations. Furthermore, next year, I would be willing to sell the farm to get Lawrence or Fields. These guys look absolutely legit.

I really think that Flores and O'Shea have done exceptional jobs. I would really want to fill gaps where our lack of talent seem to be hurting us the most. We have a few units that are pretty solid, and they are not priorities.

I think the first group that is solid is our WR unit. With Parker (who I would extend), Wiliams, and Hurns, I feel like those are three solid starters. Grant will be around because of contract reasons. Wilson could be a salary cap causality. Gesicki looks like he has turned the corner. It is unfortunate that this group is so solid because the draft his WR heavy.

Needham has been a pleasant surprise at CB and ever since Rowe moved to safety, he has looked amazing. Howard will be returning. Jones will likely be gone while McCain will probably stick around for one more year because of his salary implications. I actually think that we are better than you'd think at this position. I imagine we will add DBs, but perhaps a little later than we'd expect.

Another group that is better than we'd expect is the LBs. Baker is a stud. McMillain has found a nice little role as a run stuffer. I would look to try and extend Biegel. Even Eguaveon has looked nice off the bench. This probably would not be an area of focus, but I could see Flores finding a guy that would really fit in our scheme - that would be fine.

I think our edge guys are one of the biggest needs on our team. I think most of our sacks are more about Flores dialing up an exotic blitz than player ability. I think we need more of the athletic type edge guys that can stand up and play LB or play with a hand in the ground - essentially someone like Clowney or Chase Young (probably will be gone before we draft). I think Taco fits that mold, but it remains to be seen as to whether he is a starter or a rotational guy on a team that will be retooled. It is worth considering taking two of these kinda guys early and have solid book ends for the future.

I could see interior defensive linemen being added too. Call it a hunch, but I think they want another stud with his hand in the dirt next to Wilkins. Don't be surprised if we prioritize a runs stuffer.

Probably the most obvious need is offensive linemen. This is gonna need heavy attention. Look for this to be a draft/free agent priority. O'Shea has tried to open things up, but oftentimes has to revert back to max protect. I am licking my chops to see what he can bring when he has more talent here. Get ready for all kinds of capital to be spent here.

Okay, I think a lot of people are gonna argue for "Flier QB." Instead, I think I would use one of those late firsts on a solid RB. This class has a lot of studs. At the beginning of this season, I thought we were deep here. Now, I could see us bring in an entirely new stable of backs.

I really think that this team could be built properly as long as we don't panic!

This is a fairly deep draft and the potential is there for us to grab 5 or 6 book-end type players that will be on the team for a decade. I don't know about moving up for a quarterback though- I have a feeling that Rosen will get a shot next season and Tua may fall into our laps at #6 (my current-day estimate of draft order). That's a tough call since there are several stud corners, RB's, DE's, etc. that could start day one...but I think we take Tua anyway if he declares.

If Tua falls, and they take a calculated risk that is fine by me. I would go as far as to say that I would be willing to take a long term approach with him and give him a medical redshirt year in 2020 in order to get his body ready for the NFL.

Since Young will most likely be gone when we pick, Epenesa could be a solid choice. There are a few good edge rushers to be had in this draft.
    Yes, a huge need.

I like this mock. Most won't because my boy Herbert is in there, but even putting that aside, insert whatever other QB you like there, I still think it's a good mock. It addresses a lot of needs with solid players. I like Gross-Matos. He could be a solid edge rusher. Curtis Weaver as well. Both #99. If either could be nearly as good as another past Miami #99, then...woo! I prefer Gross-Matos.Weaver could go in the second or maybe later.

I'm not even a fan on Herbert, like in the least......yet I would still take this mock in a heartbeat.

I hear ya' about Herbert and like I said, insert whatever QB you may want there, but I too would really like this draft.

If we fall out of the top 5, we’re in a great spot to get a good OT or DE like Epenesa. Build the trenches with our top pick, see who’s available at QB with our 2nd pick. On top of having a good coaching staff, we’ve found players who have bought in and are playing above the level their talent would indicate. Couple that with all of our stock picks and we could be in real good shape.

I'll take Tua, let him sit behind Fitz and Rosen...No way we pass if he's okay.

I saw Herbert literally down the street from where I live in Tempe. He's so inconsistent with his accuracy.

I know you're all ready to crown Flores for winning 3 games against awful teams in a league where the worst team could literally beat the best any Sunday....but the fact is we have had staffs come in and look as good or better.

Flores has proven nothing yet and honestly I cant wait until hes fired. He disgusts me as a human being.

This is where you’re just being too negative and have lost any objectivity. If you can’t see the positive in our HC winning football games with the least talented team in the NFL, then we’re probably never going to see eye to eye on anything and it’s not worth really engaging in a discussion.

Yeah, as I said in my 'personal approach' thread, I'm at the place now where I care less about whether we draft #1, #2, #3 etc. and just want to watch what happens.

That might sounds like a cop out but the bottom line is that if Flores and Grier are the guys to get it done, then they'll get it done, even if it's done differently than we might expect. Having a good GM and HC in place is far more important than any one draft or season. If they aren't the guy then nothing done this season or the next draft, will matter.

But I'm excited at the prospect that we might just have something here with Flores and co. Whoever we draft, I'll be excited to see the team play in 2020.

I liked Tua pretty well early on but I am getting more concerned all the time about his durability as an NFL QB. So much so at this point I don't think I'm that interested any longer. I like Burrow, but he won't be there and I like Fromm at this point. Beyond that if we pick up a QB later in the 1st I'm all in on Jalen Hurts. Whomever we draft, and that means any of them, need to ride the pine for a year and learn behind Fitzpatrick. The more you can get a guy prepared to play but not force him to carry the team on the field the better.

Building a culture, gaining buy-in and showing player development are all very important.

Before the season, they were really the more important keys than a W/L record. I said then that as long as we didn't go 0-16, showed heart, saw some guys get better and saw the team develop through the season I would be good to see Flores keep going, and it's hard to argue too heavily against it at this point. Guys like Needham, Rowe, Biegel, Baker and Raekwon on D are really showing. Parker and Gieseke on offense as well. The team is playing hard and fighting, they didn't let the disastrous start kill them. They didn't let pretty boy Minkah get them down.

We obviously need a big infusion of talent, and that will start this offseason. Priority number one is still QB imo. I don't believe a word this staff says about Rosen until and unless he shows something. If we have the chance to take a guy we think will be a special player at QB, we need to do it. I am still on the Tua train barring a negative medical diagnoses. Get a top flight RB, some OL help and a pass rusher and we will have the chance to be much improved.

Just because you didn't go 0-16 doesn't mean you're suddenly competitive with the best teams in the league with an approach different from the one that was intended to get you there.

I also want to say, I find it incredibly hard to believe that Flores is this bumbling idiot and the team is growing and playing hard. Instead of inventing fears for the future, talk about the how. What's actually going on. There's always a chance that this is the rebirth off the franchise, and you'll have wasted the enjoyment of the first part.

Or they could suck the next two years and Flores is relegated to scooping ice cream at the local Whippie Dip.

No matter what, it won't be because of us. So just enjoy the wins and try to catch the magic.

Or don't. One way is certainly more enjoyable though.

OK. After this SEC Championship game I have to admit I have a stupid mancrush on Joe Burrow. I've seen him play the last part of the year and really been impressed but he was crazy good tonight. I'm all in. Do whatever we have to so we can secure him in the draft. We have the capital to make it happen and I think we should.

Yeah we are NOT getting much help from those two. I thought Eli was looking pretty good last night and went to bed at halftime.
And then I woke up this morning.
