    It has.

That said, a lot of the windows hes throwing into are 3-5 yards wide at times. I'm obviously not saying every throw, so don't anyone take it that way.

I want to see him throw into consistently tight windows because at some point he will have to.

I'd love to see Rosen start week 17. Rosen looked better than Fitz until the Washington game IMO and now that the season is already over, why not give him a shot to play for one week?

I think that's the smart move....but I also think they start Fitzpatrick because of perceptions. If Rosen starts and we lose, then the media gets to say we tanked the last game and suddenly the effort in the other 15 doesn't matter. I mean, we're going to lose either way so it shouldn't matter....but somehow it does.

Then again, this final game is our Super Bowl and all our no-name scrubs know it could be their last game in the NFL. This is like the movie The Replacements, chicks dig scars and all, so maybe we come out and shock the world one more time. As much as we'd prefer the loss, it would be an awesome Christmas present to see the Fins stomp the Pats with our 4th and 5th stringers.

They wanted the 38 year old journeyman as the quarterback of this team for some reason.

Starting Rosen now at a game in New England that they need to win badly doesn't do anything. He might not complete 10 passes.

Hopefully, he stays with the team another year and beats out Fitzpatrick in camp. That's all you can hope for.

Me personally, I'm rooting for the win regardless. I want to get a win in Foxboro so badly.

As far as the national perception, I don't think it will affect anything, we aren't the worst team and I haven't heard much about us tanking in awhile from national media, even if they do, who cares honestly? They can't penalize us for starting Rosen, there are worse teams and teams who are out of contention start their backups all the time to see what they have at the end of the season. I can't remember if we started Fales or not in week 17 2 years ago or not but he played most of the game.

I want to say he started that game? I can't be 100% sure but I'm thinking he did.

Honestly can't remember either, but he certainly got some significant run. We've heard Flores consistently praise him recently, I'd love to see Rosen play for a half or so. I don't think it's tanking or uncommon for teams to do this.

    Slightly left of center
Alex Smith would have the Redskins as clear NFC East champs for the last 2 and next 2-3 years. Sucked for him having that devastating career ending injury.

    Alex Smith is incredibly underrated.

I dont want to hear about how he cant win in the playoffs either. Peyton couldnt win in the playoffs until he did.

    It's a team game.

Again think passer rating differential. Alex Smith is likely to produce at an average to above-average (not elite) level. In the playoffs he's likely to face the elite quarterbacks in the league. His team is likely to beat those other quarterbacks to the degree that he has a pass defense that can make them play worse than he does, and that's certainly possible, but not likely. Consequently his teams are likely to get beaten in the playoffs.

Again, you are using a number that that more to do with team play than an individual to assign worth to an individual.

    It cant work that way.

It's like if I asked you to do a group project for a contest with 2 other members. You knock it out of the park but the other two do the bare minimum and you lose.

Now I'm supposed to somehow blame you 100% for the failure?

In my own personal opinion, the reason "they" wanted a 38 year old journeyman quarterback, like Fitzpatrick is for the on field coaching you get from a quarterback with so much experience. Now while that may sound crazy at first glance...a quarterback like Fitzpatrick who's had a mediocre career at best, the "best" players don't always become the "best" coaches.

Don Shula was a mediocre DB as a player, but his record as a coach is undisputed. The same goes for other coaches...Tom Landry, Chuck Noll. Granted, I'm looking at a different era if you will but the point being is great players aren't necessarily great coaches.

Fitzpatrick has been around long enough and has enough experience to be able to help young players elevate their games...players that are second rate at best and help teach them their position on field.

    Just my opinion

Passer rating differential predicts winning and losing in individual games, and Alex Smith is likely to produce an average to above-average passer rating in any individual game. That's his contribution to the situation, based on his individual ability and track record as a player.

For his team to overcome that situation against an elite QB, it needs to play pass defense such that it limits that opposing QB to a subpar game, and that of course will be reflected in passer rating differential as well.

Alex Smith's ability and typical performance create a situation against an elite QB that his team has to help him overcome. So yes, it's a team game, but Alex Smith certainly makes a significant contribution to the situation his team is in and determines how well it has to play to win.

Russel Wilson's pass defense doesn't have to play as well as Alex Smith's does to beat an elite QB.

If you look back to articles talking about training camp this year, Fitzpatrick was one of the first guys there each morning learning the playbook. After practice, he'd work thru all the route trees with all the receivers. He openly did anything that was asked of him and was a solid leader from day 1...and the coaches basically gave him free reign since he was doing everything right anyway.

Fast forward 4 months and Fitzpatrick said this has been the best year of his career because it hasn't once felt like work. His teammates believe in him and he does everything he can to make them better and the team better. There have also been no expectations so he's not fretting over losses; he fully understands what they have and how far they'd have to come to be able to compete at all. It's honestly been awesome to watch and he was the PERFECT QB for this team. I personally wouldn't have started anyone over him after that training camp because players are competing just as hard for him as they are for themselves.

Sitting Fitzpatrick in favor of Rosen for this last game would be the ultimate smack in the face to Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick has put his body on the line week in and week out. He's been the consummate professional. He's elevated Parker to a potential Pro Bowl WR and has given Gesicki a second life.

He deserves to finish the season and I'm not opposed to bringing him back next season if no QB we like is available. Crossing my fingers for Tua though.
