"According to the police report provided to the Sun-Sentinel, the Dolphins’ Pro Bowl cornerback and his fiance got into a verbal argument about the recent purchase of a purse that wasn’t disclosed and the altercation became physical when the defendant grabbed her arm and pushed her back up against a mirrored glass wall in the hallway of their bedroom.

The defendant then let her go, causing her to fall to the floor on her right arm, which landed on his crutches.

The defendant had physical scratches and redness on her right wrist and forearm."

The worst par is, it's because of his reaction to a damn purse.

Its not like she just told him shes been cheating and a child isnt his. Not that it would be okay in those circumstances (it wouldnt be) but at least you could attribute it to a momentary inability to deal with stress and pain.

In this case it's just an incredible overreaction that, if true, doesnt seem even the least bit understandable or justified.

This isn't good news at all...but it almost sounds like a non-story. I can't see them prosecuting over two people wrestling for a purse and one of them falling down.

I follow him on instagram and Howard has a brace on that leg and has been on a wheelchair around his home as hes trying not to put weight on his left leg..

I imagine he doesnt have much control of his body and hope this was an accident and overreaction by his fiance..

but over a damn purse? Hes got to be smarter than that.

He's a young man who overreacted. It probably wasn't "the purse" but some other underlining issue and the purse just set everything off. Maybe he's tired of being on crutches, Maybe he's sick of sitting around, maybe he's got cabin fever from not playing, maybe traffic was bad and he had road rage. Either way, it's never excusable to get physical with a woman, but this is a bit dramatic. I'm not condoning what he did in any way, but you can literally go to jail these days for anything. I know a guy who threw a pillow across the room while arguing with his wife. She got scared and called the cops and he went to jail for it. Again....control yourself X....It's especially hard to do when you're a younger man, but he's got a lot to lose as do we all.

CB Okudah at #5? Tough news to hear, and Miami may need to trade Howard to the Raiders if, IF it's part of a pattern. As was mentioned, many states have a law that says that any call for domestic violence means that SOMEONE has to be arrested, regardless of the merit of the charges.

"Howard, 6 feet and 200 pounds, “grabbed both her arms and pushed her back up against the mirrored glass wall in the hallway of their bedroom,” the police report states. Howard “then let her go, causing her to fall to the floor on her right arm, landing on his medical assisted walking crutch, which was on the floor.”

Police say they found the crutches next to the mirrored wall.

“One of the top support braces of the crutch was broken,” Officer Pedro Perez wrote in the report. “I inspected the mirrored glass wall which wasn’t damaged, but smudge marks were seen.”

His fiancée had “visible” scratches, redness on her right wrist and forearm and “redness and an abrasion” on her right elbow from falling on the crutches, according to police...

...Howard is now at risk of a league suspension to begin next season. The length of a suspension would be at the discretion of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Howard told officers he had knee pain from a recent surgery and was taken to Westside Regional Hospital before being booked to Broward Sheriff Office’s Main Jail, where he is being hold on a $3,000 bond...

...Monday’s arrest was Howard’s first known arrest."

We started this season the laughing stock of the league. Some even started saying worst team ever. We got rid of stars who were not in line with our plan for the future. We bring in a coach who is no nonsense who PLAYERS apparently love to play for and who brings out the best of them. For lack of a better term Flores is a bad dude who you can’t help but love if he is your coach.
We have a good second half to the season and even games we lost we could have won, Jets, etc
We end the season on a high note by beating the Pats in a huge game for them in Foxboro!

    Now this.

This team has been plagued by dumb moves and bone head mismanagement and guidance for the past 10+ years. The old ownership would, even if allegations are substantiated, find a way to keep the player.

I like the direction this organization is taking. We need to continue the path we have been taking recently. Superstar or not if you do not fit in, are a cancer to the team or don’t remember that you are first and foremost a representative of the team you are gone!

The organization owes it to we lifelong fans who have had our hopes raised and then destroyed for years on end.

If he laid a finger on her he MUST be suspended and then have his contract voided PERIOD!

Let’s build a championship the right way-from the ground up.

    Go Fins!

Honestly, viewing this from a purely football standpoint ... would we be disappointed at a voiding of his contract? He was having a rough season and then the injury. How likely are we to see the 2018 version of X versus the 2019 version?

Just super poor judgement all around from him, it's really not hard to NOT put hands on a lady. Just don't even go there. You're a millionaire dude, let her have the purse but cut off future funds if you are that concerned and move on with your rehab instead of attacking and possibly re-injuring yourself, let alone harming the woman and getting into legal trouble.

It will be an interesting study for Flores to see how he handles this though, whether he wants to just cut bait or wants to offer a second chance and how he and Grier can frame that to fans. Remember that just because he is a former Patriot doesn't mean he won't potentially tolerate bad character guys.

If you want to talk from a football perspective, it depends how bad his injury really is and how the rest of his career plays out.

It would definitely suck if we cut him and he regained form somewhere. That said it would be helpful if he doesnt and it saved us money.

Considering how much cap space we have even with him signed I'm not sure dumping his salary is a priority.

That's the thing though- they don't "owe us" anything...it's not our team and we have zero say in the matter. While we hope that the ownership/GM would have our best interests at heart, Ross's first few moves as owner was to bring in celebrity co-owners and build a nightclub in the stadium to draw in new types of fans.

If this team turns the corner in the years ahead it will be in spite of Ross, not because of him. And while I believe that he wants to field a championship team as much as any owner, his input means next to nothing since he doesn't seem to fully grasp what it takes to build a contender. It seems like lately Marino has his ear as much as anyone and of course we all love Marino, but that doesn't mean he's qualified to be the lead counsel to an owner.

As I've said throughout the year, the next few seasons will 100% hinge on Grier building the right talent from the ground up. We did find a few keepers this season and that will definitely help with the rebuild, but we're still 20+ pieces away from being a complete football team. Howard was one of the most important pieces long-term and he's barely played the past three seasons...so I think that reflects some on Grier and his decision-making process. We should have kept Minkah and shopped Howard instead- the payoff would have been greater and we ultimately would have kept the more valuable of the two players since Howard can't seem to stay on the field healthy (and that's not even considering this latest wrinkle).

Uh, without fans you don't make money. So they do sort of owe fans a winning team. We spend our money to support the team.

It’s a bad look for future free agents if we just go ahead and void his contract without getting all the facts.. this is a top 5 cornerback.. and from what we have gathered so far, it was a shove.. not a punch or kick like Kareem Hunt.. a shove..

even Jarvis Landry had his thing where he pegged his girlfriend with her cellphone and he didnt face any punishment.

I get the feeling this fiancé of his will drop the charges soon.. unless shes really digging for money to make a civil suit.. shes already guaranteed custody with the kids due to this.

They wouldn't try and void a contract before they have a full grasp of the situation. We are all just forming preliminary opinions at this point. I don't think it will have a big impact on free agency. Are free agents spurning the Chiefs for cutting ties with Kareem Hunt? Did free agents flock away from the Ravens after the Ray Rice situation? As long as there is a clear and obvious reason - it's not like "don't put hands on your girl" is a high bar here.

Overall though, my point is that this is a test of sorts for Grier and Flores, it will be interesting to see how they handle this. Can they get through to Howard in offering a satisfying apology and other things to warrant a second chance, or will they try to cut bait? Will they see this an out from his contract? Do they still consider him a building block after a down year and injuries? We will see.

He absolutely does- but we also started the year as the worst team in the history of the league in point differential and managed 5 total wins. I think that's a huge nod to Flores, but it's also a massive black eye on Grier overall. That can be largely fixed this off-season but I don't think the fan-base should have unlimited patience either...it's definitely "show me" time to determine whether he's a genius or a complete bum.

Because if we don't significantly upgrade, then those solid role players we found in 2019 don't really mean anything in the grand scheme of things outside of Preston Williams (who may be the steal of the year!).

I don't see how it is a massive black eye. He also collected the right talent for Flores to be able to get 5 total wins, that should not have been able to do so.

Grier was also very integral in hiring Flores. For a rebuild, Grier dumped a lot of salaries, loaded up on draft picks, hired Flores, and all in all only lost one more game than the previous year.

How many rebuilds have that much success?

It's not a black eye, unless you believe that Grier was getting rid of players because he believed it made the team better. It's clear that dumping all those players wasn't about making the team better. So, imo, Grier doesn't look bad at all.

We won 5 total games- that's not a success by any means. And if you use the logic that Grier hired Flores so he must be good at what he does, then you have to say Ross must be a football guru since he obviously hired them both. It just doesn't work that way.

I'm not trying to knock Grier YET, but like I said...now is the time to prove his worth. He jettisoned a heck of a lot of talent believing he could do better over a couple of seasons of building, so we shouldn't be comfortable with 5 wins again next year. If we're not a playoff team then so be it, but we should at least be back to the 7-9/8-8 mark of Flores's predecessor to show that there's actual growth.

Just look at the news media the first nine weeks- "We're trying to win" doesn't jibe with "We traded anyone with some value." It was definitely a black eye on the team and while the media backed off once we started winning, tones will quickly change if we don't upgrade significantly this coming season.

Again, I'm not strictly "against" Grier today, but I am awfully darn worried about the draft since we have so many gaping holes everywhere. If he doesn't deliver next season then all of this was for nothing and we traded a lot of young talent away on top of it. I don't think people realize how much the odds are stacked against this rebuild working to the level that it was promised...it's not easy to build a perennial contender much less over the course of two or three seasons without an All-Pro anywhere on your active roster.

It's almost an impossible task unless we hit on 3-4 game-changing players this coming season...and one of them almost has to be a quarterback.

I don't see having a plan and implementing that plan as a black eye.

If Miami is less competitive next year, yea, a huge black eye.

In my opinion Grier exceeded expectations his first year

I don't see it that way- Grier did nothing to help Flores field a competitive team. It seems we agree on the other point though because it all comes down to what Grier does in 2020 that really counts one way or the other.

I think the management plan was to blow it all up. It wasn't planned to field, on paper, a "competitive" team. I think with how the team responded under Flores, and became competitive the second half of the year, perhaps changed the view of management, in regards to what the team needed. In other words, perhaps Grier, with the help of Flores, actually exceeded expectations.

Well, you have to be specific here since the management was Grier and Grier alone. Think about it- Ross had every intention of retaining Gase and competing this season for a potential championship until he heard Grier's pitch. So EVERYTHING that happened off the field is on Grier alone.

Think about this- let's say Gase stayed one more season with a new GM. They didn't trade anyone and in the draft, they focused on offensive line. Suddenly, it's Tannehill throwing bombs to Parker, Williams and Gisecki, with Gore and Drake carrying the running game (I'm claiming Williams because we still have Grier in the building and he wasn't drafted...so that part shouldn't have changed).

Some people will say, "Well, Tannehill sucked in Miami so we would have sucked anyway." Is that what YOU personally believe though? Because I'l remind you that Grier was tasked with finding a QB and he let the best one in the league go for peanuts. Tannehill. Tunsil. Drake. Minkah. Stills. Wake. James. Gore. We let so many top competitors and team leaders walk for less than their actual value.

As I said earlier, maybe Grier builds a perennial playoff contender in the next couple of seasons. I can't help but wonder though if he tossed out a perennial playoff contender when he set everything into motion. This was 100% his plan and we have no choice to be on board with it, but you know in the back of your mind if Gase stayed one more season then so did Tannehill and most of our other skill players.

Could you really see Gase letting John Denny get cut for a rookie who wasn't even in camp? There's no freaking way...

I'm not complaining how the players responded under Flores- it was a great year overall. But I'm not giving Grier an ounce of credit outside of Preston Williams because he traded Tannehill and a 2nd round pick for Rosen and a 4th...plus all the other moves that led to a 5-win season. And I can't help but wonder....what would RT look like in Miami when he was 100% healthy? We'll never know because Grier said he knew better than Gase or the rest of the front office, even though he clearly didn't.
