Maybe because he wasn't looking for a full-time coaching job to begin with and sort of got tossed into the role. I wasn't blown away with our line this season but given the level of talent, he seemed like a solid candidate to retain.

That’s a weird move to fire Oshea considering the hand he was dealt.
I dont like how we were essentially a pass pass pass run team.. there needs to be a lot more balance

The only thing I could think of was O'Shea was the one who pushed for Rosen and Flores was all like, "Are you going to put your job on the line?"

That’s surprising. Also probably means we’re moving on from Fitzpatrick.

The OC move strikes me as odd. I think it’s a miracle we were even the 27th ranked offense given the talentless OL and RB grouping we had.

The production and improvement of Gesicki and Parker would have been enough reason for me to keep as much consistency as possible.

Gugs I can see. He’s always bouncing around and wasn’t looking for a coaching gig, it seemed he was doing us a favour really.

This was my first thought as well.

Now Rosen will have 4 Coordinators in 3 years, lol.

Didn't see this coming. Now the same old questions ..will the new acquisitions work ?...will there be chemistry with the new guys coming in ? .etc.

I thought this coaching unit progressed as the season went on but I do have faith in Flores so I guess these moves were necessary.

The Tua cult needs to chill out.. good lord.. all this craziness for a guy that has mirrored Mariota’s high school and college career.

I still don't think Rosen is part of the future plan. I could be wrong but it's a gut feeling.

By the way which teams are lining up for McDaniels coaching staff. Name those teams, because nothing the Patriots did this year or on the Broncos has shown he will be the successor of New England or a head coach in the NFL.

McDaniels may get fired and join Patricia’s staff more likely than be a head coach in the NFL next season.

Gotta credit to Flores though.. lots of head coaches stick with their guys for the duration of their first contract and it ends up being their downfall. Flores sought out what he thinks are weak links and is looking to improve after one season

Honestly, I am curious as to what Flores's expectations have been for our offense/offensive line. This is the second line coach that we have fired. The talent simply was not there. We traded Tunsil and were starting guys that were not even on the roster during training camp. We started undrafted players, late round picks, and people that we acquired for late round picks.

Objectively, nothing was screaming, "This team has talent." I would not be surprised at all if Jesse Davis is the only returning starter.

Look at our RBs as well. Walton was the only one that showed promise, but his off the field problems wound up ruining his last chance. Again, it is well within the realm of possibility that we have no returning RBs.

I really think, and stand by the fact that O'Shea did a remarkable job. We really moved the ball, Parker and Gesicki grew.

I love coach Flo, but I am no sycophant. I think that O'Shea was a terrible firing.

Wow, important moves 1st offseason day.

I’d bet Flores questioned the whole staff who’s on board for at least 3 more years and scratched off the list those with no guarantees.

Let go not only the players but the coaches that don’t trust the process and or those who will (soon) be looking for higher vacancies anywhere else.

I am honestly shocked by all of these guys being let go but especially Chad O'shea. I really thought he did a good job at the least. I liked his play calling quite a bit. There has to be more going on here than what we know. To me it just makes no sense.

Yeah I can't see a Sark hiring personally. That would be a massive tip regarding Tua and a pretty clownish one. Also, he sucked for Atlanta, so no thanks on both fronts.

Interesting move canning Oden. I didn't see much Phins action this year, but didn't think our safety crew was awful. Didn't Rowe get put at safety to good success?

Well Flores fired our original OL coach in pre-season.

Most first time bosses are afraid to sack any of their hires who, for whatever reason, are not working out. So I think it is a good sign that Flores is prepared to move on from people who aren’t achieving to the level he wants.

It isn’t an endorsement of the moves or of Flores. Just a recognition that he is avoiding a common pitfall.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what I don't get is why did Schuplinski come here in the first place? If he likes it here why do we need to worry about McDaniels poaching him? If he really wants out and doesn't want to be here, contract or not, can't he make it happen? Why would Flores keep a coach who doesn't want to be here?

Honestly firing O'Shea just makes us look incredibly stupid. I'm not sure what the point behind that was.

While the on field product was fine for the talent level Im really beginning to question the commitment this organization has to successful assistants.

Maybe Flores is mad because we won due to our offense not his coveted defense. Heck, maybe O'Shea should have been the HC.

Any coach who tells you he is on board for 3 years no matter what is either:

A: Unqualified to be a HC due to skill or age.

    Or

    B: Lying.

Well it seems they wanted a different direction to the offense altogether. Chan Mr. Spread Gailey coming on board. Not sure what to make of it but I guess we will see. When he was here in 2000 & 2001 I think we were 11-5 both seasons with Noodle arm Feidler at qb. But that was 20 years ago!

I'd love to bring O'Shea to Tennessee if Arthur Smith is given a HC job in NFL.

Just spit-balling here, but something popped into my head while reading a post-season article about how Miami traded-away two pro-bowlers in Fitzpatrick and Tunsil.

The three coaches that were fired were coaches for these positions.

I wonder if that had anything to do with their removal? Anybody heard words to that end at all? This staff and the current organization seem to be much better at keeping stuff under their hat, and I don't think there have been any read-between-the-lines comments supporting this, just caught me as slightly more than coincidental.

I am shocked about the firing of O'Shea. I thought, considering the circumstances, he did a good job. I loved the play calling compared to Gase. He seemed to have really helped the receivers. There were some gutsy calls. The redzone offense was much improved. There has to be something that went on behind the scenes about which we just don't know. Gailey? This is just so strange, but we'll see how this unfolds.
