So, turns out, DeVante Parker finished 5th in the league in receiving yards and is tied for fourth (albeit with four others) in most TD receptions. That's quite the coming out party.
We all knew he had the potential...and we also thought that we'd never actually see it. Some here were even arguing for him to be traded this season, so I'm super glad the timing finally worked out on one of our young talents.
Top 2 first Rounders and Parker for Burrows!....Next Pre season Parkers new GF breaks up with him then he stubs his toe and he's out for the year.
Parker is one of my favorite Dolphins in 35 years as a fan of the team. Its been so satisfying to see him finally used properly by a coaching staff who aren't total idiots. However, now we have to cross our fingers that Chan Gailey doesn't burn the whole offense to the ground and send Parker back to Purgatory, running routes that he isn't suited for.
I am guessing here, but I think Flores has a way with guys like Parker. I am glad he has responded and can’t wait to see what he can do next year when paired up with Williams.
Dolphins signed him into a friendly contract, cant deny that. But.... I think this season was a fluke. 56% catch rate, 7 drops, on a team that had no other choice but to target him. I wanna see another year of improvement if Im going to crown him as a WR1 on this team.
Parker has been an underacheiver and a puddin' pop until this year. He would miss game after game with minor ailments and never played tough on the field. What ever Flores and his staff did to/for him this season worked big time. I was so excited when we drafted him as he was the guy I had hoped we'd pick. Finally it seems he is playing the way we thought he would coming into the pro's. If he continues on this path now there is every reason to believe he will be the number one receiver that he should be.
He's not really being paid like a #1, though, when you look across the league. He's being paid as the best player on our offense (for now). He's being paid like a piece of a bigger pie.
Catch rate is kind of a useless stat evaluating a WR. Parker gets a large amount of low % throws down field as well as a lot of uncatchable balls thrown to him. It's more a metric that will tell you what kind of chemistry a WR/QB has as well as whether a team targets chunk yards or high % passing.
Devante made the PFT all pro team! Only 3 WR's included! Excited to see Gesicki make it next year.. and Tannehill if he keeps it up. May be the biggest black in eye in recent history - Mr Adam Gase. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/01/02/pfts-2019-all-pro-team/
