You still give New England a chance to tie it up with a miracle return. You also give them a chance to WIN the game if they got that miracle TD, so I don't see the need.
Definitely wasn't Tannehill's best game. But, he didn't crumble, so props for that. I just hope it's playoff jitters because he'll need to shake it off next week. Congrats to him, still.
Wow! Great job Tennessee! Brady's done being a great QB. And Belichick is going to have a real hard time building a consistent winner without Brady. Anyway, Tannehill will have another chance to prove himself as a playoff QB, but he didn't play well today. Henry on the other hand? Fantastic. And kudos to the Titans defense too.
Ryan Tannehill... 8 completions for 72 yards. 1 TD, 1 INT, 1 fumble. A 61 PR. Playoff winner in Foxboro. Tom Brady... 20 completion for 209 yards. 0 TDs, 1 INT (Pick 6). A 59.4 PR. Playoff loser to the much maligned Ryan Tannehill.
Gee, I guess since Brady's passer rating for this HARD FOUGHT game being 59 is astronomically better than Tannehill's 56, huh? I can see that this discussion concerning Tannehill is going to continue. He's great. He's elite. He sucks. Same old Tanny. Here's the fact that's indisputable... The Tennessee Titans defeated the New England Patriots...in the playoffs....in Foxborough where the winner continues on in the playoffs and the other team goes home.
Not his best game, but they did NOTHING to get him into a flow...didn't roll him out, no runs, notta. Two blatant PIs not called on 3rd downs in that 2nd half too...holding the receivers' arms down. How does that not get called? Doesn't matter...Ws a W...Patriots OUT!
Tannehill's finished at 61. He still beat Brady. Bottom line is that Tannehill's TEAM won and they both don't get to the game without him and don't win without him.
If he does, I think Bellicheat goes elsewhere. It's time for them to try and win without each other to 'prove' who was the real force behind the dynasty. I'd love to see what Bellicheat could do with Rivers in New England. I think Brady is slipping physically though, so age finally caught up to him. Feels good man, feels REALLY good.
He did ok. The fumble was bad. He had pressure all over him in passing situations and still threw a few dimes. He made that clutch throw to put the game away. That was awesome!
Belichick did a hell of a job taking away the PA game...and the Titans OC didn't have an answer for it all night. And Richard Sherman woulda been proud of all those penalties they got away with.
He threw some passes that his guys made no effort on also, unfortunately, especially the pick. I have no idea what Davis was looking at...
Arthur Smith is a first year OC. He's gotten better as the year progressed, but was definitely over matched in this game.
Are you serious? I haven’t seen anything other than Yahoo saying they couldn’t find evidence that the staff or team was involved in the incident....
He never saw the ball. You saw him looking about. Romo said he threw it off his back foot under pressure and that the wind affected it. It was def under thrown. Harmon made a hellova play to come over and make the pick going to the ground.
That game was pretty similar to this one: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/201001100nwe.htm Only in that one Joe Flacco remarkably had just 10 pass attempts (as opposed to Tannehill's 15), and the Ravens beat the Patriots in New England in the wildcard round, 33-14. Tom Brady had a passer rating of 49 that day. So I wouldn't call the dynasty over yet. We've been here before and the Patriots rebounded.
Oh that's true. And he certainly could've done worse, especially given the circumstance of playing his first playoff game on the road against New England. Edit: And he did outplay Brady, so there's that.
I bet BB wants to try and show it wasn't Brady, but Rivers looked like trash this year too. Daniel Jones though? Hmm ...
Absolutely!!!! I beat the drum constantly that football is a TEAM sport and the Titans TEAM came ready to play. I've also beat the drum time and time again about the importance of RUNNING the ball. -The Patriots threw the ball for 200 yards -The Titans RAN the ball for 200 yards. The Patriots defense was ranked number 1 in ever significant defensive category and they had the secret weapon to disarm that defense...RUN THE DAMNED BALL!!! And because they ran the ball so effectively, Tannehill didn't have to throw the ball. The wore the Patriots down with old fashioned smash mouthed football. SUCK IT PATRIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Patriots fans are now coming out with the excuses.. “brady was playing with broken ribs” yeah right, kiss my ***
Baltimore -10 over TEN 49 KC -7.5 over Hou 50 LOVE KC as the first leg in multiple teasers (would get KC -1.5) Small lean as of now on Baltimore -10 to be honest.
Brady's first ever playoff game, his PR was a 70.4. No TDs and an INT. His worst PR in the playoffs was 49.1 in 2009 where he threw 3 INTs against Baltimore. He's had MANY subpar games in the playoffs with his passer rating in the 50's and 60's... Playoffs are all about running the ball and playing defense. Titans did that tonight. Love that Vrabel, a former Patriot with a grudge against Bill, knocked him out of the playoffs. LOVE IT.
I have a feeling they will get a very small penalty this time. Robert Kraft is a slimy piece of ........
I hear ya...but they've done that play a few times this year, to TEs and WRs, and it usually works. Harmon did make a nice play on it though, ya...unlike the Titans earlier dropping gimme INTs lol.
