I'm just relieved Camarillo made the team. Aside from last year's heroics, he's a hard working guy with a great attitude that's good to have on a football team. If Hagan gets the drops again, I hope Camarillo gets his chance to start in the regular season.

I see him as the replacement for Wes Welker. He has good hands.

Im surprised Greg has not gotten more time with the starters honestly. Everything I hear about him from training camp this year was that he just makes the plays. He catches everything. I think the knock on him is his speed off the line but as a slot receiver I think he would be a great addition to the starting line up. while hagan has some upside and Bess has been turning heads I think Greg has slipped through the cracks some.

Hopefully we will us some 4 wides and have greg and bess in there.. I think GINN is going to have some problems early on (I hope not!) but I feel he will be receiving the majority of the teams pressure and rightly so as hes the only real threat at wide out we posses.

I like Camarillo a lot. He has good hands, he's a good route runner and has good speed imo. However, I don't see him starting for us. I think this is another move to see what we have in all of our players.

As for the move of Ninkovich to the PS, it seems it was made because Charlie Anderson is healthy now (assuming). I like Ninkovich's motor.

Isn't Greg Camarillo faster than Welker though? Welker is quick, shifty. I think if Wesley "Western Meadow" Welker :D catches that ball last year, he gets caught from behind and we go 0-16.

Davone Bess may be similar though.

  7. I'm happy that both Nincovich & Armstrong cleared waivers & are on the practice squad. Both showed potential in the pre-season.

Camarillo will be good, with Bess and Fasano and even Grigsby I think we'll be better then people think catching the ball! Martin has had a descent offseason too, not to mention Ginn of course. Hell, start Ginn and Camarillo and try Wilford in the slot if Hagan starts his old habbits. Or who wouldn't want to see Ginn, Camarillo and Bess!

I don't know what to make of Martin this off-season. While he did improve his blocking this off-season, he dropped the ball on consecutive days in some parts of training camp according to the blogs. I hope he can do something for us this year and by something, I mean positive.

Happy to see Ninkovich get a practice squad job at least. He'll be able to jump in later this year if we have any injuries on the Dline or at LB. He played well in PS and like Camarillo and Bess, EARNED a spot on the team. Good to see the opportuntiy given to the players that are working for it and earning PT.

That is good news, Ninkovich is one of those guys who just sticks with it.

I'm happy he is on the PS, I doubt anyone will try to sign him off the squad.

    Liked Armstrong as well.

Im okay with Camarillo, but not as a starter. Sure if thats what's best for the football team, i'm all for it. I dont know what it is, but I just have this negative attitude towards the guy. Im not sure why, sure he had the big play last year which was awesome! Hes a good character guy, has good hands and all that, but something in my head makes me keep asking myself why we have this guy still? Im not sure why... maybe its just that even after his heroics last year... i still know pretty much nothing about this guy. Maybe thats it...

I know between him and Hagan I trust him more to catch the ball when it hits his hands.

I agree with you. I might get bashed for saying this, but in my opinion if it wasnt for that one big play last year we probably wouldnt be even mentioning his name.

I'm not sure why you have a negative towards as you said but I could understand a questioning one. Camarillo was a guy who went undrafted I believe and was on the Chargers practice squad. He was a no-name guy that somehow managed to save the Dolphins season. He hasn't proven anything other than that one catch to many of us but he does have some talent. He was one of the best route-runners in San Diego despite being on the practice squad. He has good hands and possesses good speed. Him making the team should not be a surprise because of the above but it is due to many not being familiar with him.

Maybe its a bit of me thinking that too that makes me wonder about him... Nobody cared about him last year... it was just oh... great... another former player of cam's from SD... no big deal... Now all of a sudden its Camarillo the great.. he has great hands, runs great routes and so on... Sure maybe he's progressed well since last year, maybe the new staff likes what he brings to the table... if so... thats great for us. im all for it. Im not bashing the guy or anything, like i said... i just have a hard time seeing where its coming from.. I sure hope its just not because of last years one play... hopefully theres more to it than that, we need it. our WR's are still a weak spot IMO.

Yeah... like i just said in my earlier post... maybe its just that im questioning all the "hype" around him this year... is it just because of what happened in that one play last year... or is there really something to him... only time will tell I guess. like i said... nothing against the guy... hopefully he does stick for us and be a good receiver. im all for it if thats the case.

I can understand your questions as they are valid. He is a talented player. He's a good route-runner as we mentioned several times and we saw him display that against the Patriots last year. We were in Foxboro and he was in man coverage against Ellis Hobbs. He ran an in-and-out route and completely burned Hobbs, scoring the touchdown in the right side of the endzone.

Whether he can continue to develop (if you want to call it that) and display those talents for us in the near future, I don't know but its possible.

I don't know what hype your exactly referring to to be honest but he did look pretty good in training camp from what I remember hearing. I don't know how much people had Camarillo making the 53 man roster after Sparano and company came in this year.

I still can't believe we were one miss FG, one TD play away from 0-16. There is a lord!

Does anyone else look at this with a bit of sarcasm ? I think he's a decoy. Trying to fool the Jets into double coverage, and leaving perhaps Ginn less attended ?

I'm no football expert, so I hope I don't get ripped too much but wouldn't that be possible ?

Nah, Camarillo is not good enough to be a decoy. He doesn't scare any teams such as Randy Moss who has been used as a decoy in the past to free up his teammates.

Camarillo = poor man's Wes Welker??

He reminds me of Welker, which I've always liked. I hated it when they traded him...how stupid was that? Traded a guy that then goes on to lead the NFL in receptions. I'm glad they're gone.

Anyway, maybe Camarillo will grow and become more of a possession receiver. He's got good hands but I'm not sure about his vision.

Davone Bess is our new Weslie Welker. As I stated earlier, if welker makes that catch last year, he gets caught from behind, and we go 0-16. I think Camarillo is faster, but that's JMHO.
