Drake wasn't returning and Miami is not trying to play the supplemental draft game so IMO that is a great trade. Miknkah is disappointing. It is my opinion that they did it so they out so that the can make sure they bet thier quarterback. Though it is nice to get that crybaby out of tune locket room
We have to see what players come out of those picks we got from the trades. If that Steeler pick turns into a franchise QB, the value is incredible for Miami, even as part of a package of picks we use to move up to grab our franchise QB it would be worth it. Yeah, odds are we get an okay player versus the difference make that Minkah has been for Pittsburgh, but we don't know yet.
The comp pick game is dangerous too. We were all counting on a third rounder for James going to Denver, but since he suffered his traditional every other year injury, who knows what will happen. Right now, the Dolphins don't have a pick between #68 and #148 without that one.
That detroit front had suh, Nick fairley before his ego got in the way, and ziggy ansah before injury kicked in. They had a lb that was an enforcer too at the time name escapes me. it was a rediculously physical front i remember when we played them in Detroit with our pillow soft oline and they mauled our guys to pieces. tanny was lucky to get out of there alive. some really heavy handed dudes and yeah suh was headed to the hall of fame lock stock at that point.
Levy was such a terrific player. Sad that his career ended that way. If healthy, I'd have much rather had him than Suh.
I commend Ross for trying a new approach. Whether or not he has the right people in place to pull it off is yet to be seen but, based on what I've seen so far... Lets just say I'm not very optimistic.
All pro update. Minkah Fitzpatrick All-pro Safety (Jamal Adams #1 with 28 votes, Minkah with 27, then Justin Simmon at #3 with 9 votes). So he was clearly considered one of the best 2 safeties in football. Laremy Tunsil - 0 All-pro votes Ryan Tannehill - 0 All-pro votes.
I disagree with the devastating loss of talent take on all this. There was a 2 win difference between 2018 and 2019.
Just to play devil's advocate... I thought we all are supposed to love Flores because he did well with a massive talent drop. If that isnt the case, how are we so sure we are in any better a position? If Gase was truly the problem that means our previous records were an under performance. So wouldnt that imply a talent drop?
My issue with the "massive talent drop" is the notion that it will takes years or one of the greatest drafts in history to compensate for. For all the talk about how great Tunsil was, our line sucked when he was here and sucked after he left. For all the talk about how great Minkah was, our secondary sucked when he was here (outside of X) and sucked after he left. What game(S) do you think we'd of won if we had Tunsil? Minkah? For me, the difference between Gase and Flores comes down to leadership. Gase had none.
I respect that, but it doesnt answer my main question, or if it does I'm being dense and need more guidance haha Main question being: How can we say his leadership ability is great if he led a not much less talented team to a worse record? Also I know you're on the Tannehill train. Do you not think theres a massive drop in talent from Tannehill to Fitz? Not judging, just asking. As for how many more games we could have won? A few probably. We could quite possibly have won the Jets and Redskins games (though you can argue we should have won by starting Fitz) and it's possible a couple more. I dont have a crystal ball so I cant tell you with 100% accuracy.
Its not you, I haven't been clear. There was a talent drop. (I would take Thill over Fitz all day every day without question or blinking or regret) I am just saying the talent drop wasn't franchise killing to the point that it will take years and years to recover from. I think what I'm impressed by with Flores, is that so many people were so convinced we were tanking (we weren't) that we lost out on Clowney and Minkah used it as an excuse to leave, and yet he brought the team back, got their heads on right, had them shut out the babble and play hard the last 9 games or so. We played our best football towards the end of the season, in spite fo the bull**** that was swarming this team. THAT, is impressive, IMO. Gase lost the team when Thill got hurt and never got them back.
In a way it was good to see Minkah's character/attitude now. When the next rough patch would be hit he would have folded.
The Minkah one stings the most. We all knew he was talented and he was first team all-pro as a second year player. The Steelers stole him from us. I know he requested to be traded but it’s sucks.
I wouldn't say they stole him, they used a first round pick on a solid player. Minkah had a likely unsustainable turnover rate this year that greatly boosted his appearance. A lot of just lucky plays - and yeah, he capitalized, but those bounces don't usually work out so well. He came back to earth in the last few weeks of the season. I don't think they regret the trade at all, unless Ben is godawful next year and they are stuck with him and Rudolph. As for us, it simply depends. If we use that pick on a solid player, it's fine. Minkah didn't want to buy in, so let's get a good player who will. If it's a bust? Well, that's the chance you take sometimes.
I heard on the radio that Brady has left over $100 million on the table over the course of his career.
The rumor I always heard was that Kraft was giving him backdoor deals - team/company ownership stakes and such. Don't know if it is true or not, but yeah Brady going under value was a huge boost for a good chunk of his tenure.
