Why the hell do we have to look at that? We can look at what they were actually able to put up for numbers. I mean, actually, if we use your criticisms of Tannehill, doesn't that actually make him a better QB than Luck, since their stats are almost the same, even though Tannehill was so terrible and was in bad situations because of his own terribleness?

By the way, could you breaKdown those 15 pass plays?

The sacks issue has been gone over before, perhaps not quite in so much detail.
For a quick recap for those who don’t have time to read the whole thread

    Factors in Tannehill’s favor:
He faced significantly tougher in conference opposition than Andrew Luck in his first 3 years
Luck won an unsustainable 81.8% (18-4 record) of his 0-7 point games in his first 3 years. Since then he has been just under 50% (11-10) in 0-7 point games.

    Factors in Luck’s favor:
    Rushing
    Avoiding sacks.

As for the sacks leading to stalled drives, I’d like to see some more research as to what down the sack comes on. If a disproportionate number of sacks come on 3rd down that skews the results.

    A further point of information
    According to this article:

    A
ndrew Luck had 2 good years of pass blocking - 2014 and 2018 which are the only 2 years he had good efficiency stats.
Unfortunately I cannot find historical data for 2012-2016 for Ryan Tannehill to do a comparison. I expect that 2019 will be a peak year for Tannehill’s OL pass blocking under this method.

Can taking sacks be bad? Yes, absolutely. However, I'd always rather have a QB take the sack rather than throw a pass into coverage.

But its also worth mentioning that in the twelve games that RT has played extensively for Tennessee, including tonight's playoff game in Baltimore, they've scored at least 20 points in every single one, 27+ in eight of them, and in his worst regular season start, he threw for 331 yards and had an 82 passer rating.

They're playing a system that emphasizing his strengths, minimizes his weaknesses, and doesn't ask him to play hero ball. I love it, and I hope that the Dolphins do the same going forward with whoever their QB is.
