Meh. The only good news is that Bethesda is getting all of this nonsense out of their system so that they can do what they're supposed to and focus on huge, single player RPGs!
Official word expected today, but various sites are saying that the first episode of the FF7 remake will be released on March 30th, 2020.
Even better. Any details on how many "episodes " it will be split up into, or if there will be limits on what you're able to do in each? I haven't found that info yet. I mean, if I'm willing to grind and get to level 99 and amass a million gil in the first part, will that all carry over?
If they aren't going to show some approximations of actual gameplay, then I'd really like them to just be honest and lay out what the expectations are for the game, the important details, what will be included, ect. But a lot of studios are doing those kids of things at other events now, which is good.
This looks off the.. you know.. CHAIN?! As someone who is a fan of Devil May Cry, Nier: Automata, and Bayonetta, looking very much forward to this one.
This E3 didn't turn me on to any new games. The games I was interested in before the show are the same games I'm interested in after the show. Only Nintendo really showed off new things. I really really hate how this industry is centered around console generations. It results in dud years like this. Everyone is waiting for 2020. Why? I have a PC, it's better than consoles. Give me the games on PC.
Well, I've been saying for about two years that this was going to happen, but things are actually looking better over the next year than I expected them to. Excluding sports titles, I could have three more games released in 2019 that I'm interested in, and then three more in the first half of 2020. Given that I absolutely won't buy them all at launch, it'll give me time to gradually get to as many as I like before late 2020 when we should then have the floodgates open up.
https://www.dualshockers.com/square-enix-final-fantasy-7-remake-parts/ Worryingly, but not shockingly, Square now says that they aren't sure how many parts the game will be split up into. Par for the course for those guys lately, I guess. We'll probably be playing three games spread out over the next decade. In this seperate article, Square seems to indicate that the time between games will likely be several years.... https://www.gameinformer.com/e3-201...r-final-fantasy-vii-games-wont-be-much-faster
It's the other way around man. FF, GTA, all on console first. I'm still sitting decent with my old but still relevant i7-3770K and 8Gb 1060 (only because my 770 Calssified died and I didn't want to spend CAD$2K on a 1070 or 1080). I think Cyberpunk may force me to get a new rig though. I'm overdue.
https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/06/13/marvels-avengers-multiplayer-e3-2019 Good news/bad news with the Avengers game. They say that you'll be able to play the whole game offline single player if you want to, which for me is the most important thing. But unfortunately, you can only play single player at home on your console. There had been stories that it was multiplayer locally, which had me excited that I could play with both my wife and daughter, but sadly that's not the case.
https://gamingbolt.com/final-fantas...sists-of-two-blu-ray-discs-producer-clarifies The FF7 remake producer further clarifies that the first game, the one coming in March, will itself be two Blu Ray discs. As far as I know, this is unprecedented since Sony moved to the Blu Ray with the PS3. I haven't had to swap discs out during one game in a long, long time. I imagine most younger games have never done so.
What's the difference, in your opinion? They remake movies and TV shows all the time, and while they generally commit to the same outline and themes, everything is usually refreshed for current times and the plot is often tweaked. That's essentially what's happening with FF7.
The battle system is essentially not the same, at all, which was 90-95% of the Playstation game. I guess there's really no difference.
It is, no doubt. But the system that they're using in the new game should be familiar to people who have been playing action RPGs the last decade or so. I enjoyed playing the remaster of FF12 with the old system, and I know that I'll enjoy the remaster of FF8 when it comes out too. But I'm eager to jump into what they're doing with 7 and have fun also. I'm honestly curious as to what the time spent in this upcoming game will be. The devs keep talking about how Midgar was such a large part of the original, but that's not how I remember playing it. That was where the good story was, but I know that I spent 75-80% of my time outside of the city exploring and leveling up.
Midgar was probably about 10% of the main game, which is a lot for one singular "city" in RPG-standards, especially one that is 60-80 hours long.
Making Midgar the first episode makes sense if they're expanding content and staying in Midgar longer. I DOUBT they'll do that, but it'd be nice to see.
Well, they've said that they have, and that Midgar will be a full length game. I guess what that means to them will become clearer in the Spring.
I can honestly say the only 2 disc game I've ever played I recall was Tales of Symphonia on Gamecube.
All of the Final Fantasy games on the PS1 were multi disc. The original FF7 had four. I'm pretty sure that the Gran Turismo games were multi disc back then too. I know that there were a lot more, but maybe not those I owned. On the PS2, I think that the Xenosaga games were two-parters. The games were just enormous, like an Anime JRPG.
https://twinfinite.net/2019/06/fina...w-screenshots/?state=changed2562&gid=1&pid=16 More screen shots for FF7. I think its interesting that the media sometimes uses the name Aries (as I always have for the character), but that these screen shots spell it Areith (which I guess is the Japanese intent?).
https://www.psu.com/news/cyberpunk-2077-ps4-install-size/ Its rumored that Cyberpunk's install size will be at least a whopping 80 gigs on the PS4, and could end up being larger. That's double the size of even most "big" games. I'm already to the point where I'm perpetually up against the wall with my system, and have to erase one or two games every time I want to install a new one. I might have to erase three or four to free up space for a game that large.
http://www.pushsquare.com/news/2019/06/guide_all_ps5_games_confirmed_or_rumoured This is a pretty comprehensive list of the games currently in development that are expected to be on the PS5. Most of them of course will not be available at launch. If the system were not going to be backwards compatible, I'd wait until a few of them were out before upgrading, but I'll likely buy it as close to day one as possible.
https://switchedongamer.ca/sony-playstation-is-back/ After skipping E3, Sony is making their usual appearance at the Tokyo Games Show, along with one in China. It'll be interesting to see what they have to show off now.
https://screenrant.com/new-open-world-ps4-rpg-genshin-impact-revealed/ This is an interesting Anime art style RPG called Genshin Impact coming next year to the PS4. I'm going to keep an eye on it.
https://www.player2.net.au/2019/10/biomutant-hands-on-preview/ This is the first news we've had on Biomutant in a long time. It sounds like the devs are still working hard on it, and its not going to be a 2019 title.
Lots of news this week that Square has started development to the second part of the FF7 remake, and its all framed as being happy and exciting. But to me, that's a punch square to the gut (pun intended), because if they're just now starting, then it means that the next section won't be released for another two years at least, and probably longer. And they're still so early in the process that they don't even know how many more sections there will be after the next one. Very much riding by the seat of their pants here, and it doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. The whole game will probably be spread out over a decade at this rate.
http://thisgengaming.com/2019/12/10...ed-to-be-exclusive-on-ps4-until-march-3-2021/ The first installment of the FF7 remake will be exclusive to Sony for exactly one year, before it comes to other consoles.
https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-mlbpa-sony-extend-video-game-partnership San Diego Studios, who makes MLB The Show, has signed an extension to their agreement to make games with MLB and the MLBPA. For the first time, they will also make the title for non-Sony consoles starting in 2021. While I like the game and have bought it since 2009, though not every year, its frustrating that it continues to be a monopoly. The developers have basically chosen to ignore single player franchise mode, which is the only reason that I play the game, in favor of online monitization. Perhaps if they had another studio competing with them, at least one of them would cater to my side of the market.
https://square-enix-games.com/en_US/news/message-final-fantasy-vii-remake-development-team The FF7 remake has been delayed by about a month. Meanwhile, the Avengers game has been pushed back from the Spring to the Autumn. For me personally, this certainly means that if there was any doubt that I'll be waiting on Cyberpunk, its a guarantee now. It comes out just one week after FF7.
The game looks great but it feels like we're being left a little in the dark about how much it's covering of the original game. Earlier footage has shown the boss battle after escaping Don Corneo's mansion, but I still haven't seen much out of Midgar yet. I have a feeling this is going to be like a 6-episode game.
I have the same worries. I'm also deeply confused as to how everything will be ported over and continued into the next game. But for now, I'm going to enjoy it for what it is.
https://www.dualshockers.com/cyberpunk-2077-delay-september-2020-release-date/ Cyberpunk has now also been pushed back to September. So I guess it won't need to compete with FF7 for sales after all. If I decide to get it, I'll likely wait to see if its coming out on the PS5 now.
