I agree with you 99% of the time but you're just flat wrong. He was a 4th round draft pick who exceeded expectations. Be mad at Ted Ginn, Chris Chambers etc but not Brian Hartline.
He also had one of the worst starting quarterbacks and worst head coaches in the league his entire career in Miami.
I'm not wrong, he was a terrible #1 WR. Maybe you could follow Bumrush's take and say he would have been a good #3WR.....but as a #1 WR...he was awful. Also, I cannot remember the details, but I'm pretty sure he was starting crap in the locker room.
Chad Henne says hello on behalf of Brian Hartline. Hartline 599 Targets 344 catches 4766 yards 57% 13.8 YPC Chambers 1109 targets 540 catches 7648 yards 48% 14.1 YPC
I agree that he wasn't a number 1 receiver but that's not his fault. That's Ireland's fault. He definitely wasn't a bust or overrated.
People act like he was a good WR when he wasn't, that's over rated, kinda by definition. I'm also not blaming him or saying anything his fault from an on field perspective. I was pointing out the facts, he was a terrible #1 WR.
He wasn't a number 1 wide receiver. Mike Wallace and Brandon Marshall were both on the team at the same time as Brian Hartline. It's seems like he outplayed them or your memory is blinded by your dislike for the player. He was a great number 2/3 receiver.
In 2012 he was a number 1. His numbers stayed the same when Wallace got here. I think he was a terrible #1 WR because I disliked him. He was terrible #1 WR and nothing to wrote home about as a #2. I also happened to dislike him because of the locker room issues he was causing.
As has been mentioned, not his fault that he was thrust into the no 1 receiver role when he wasn't supposed to be and always produced when called on even though he wasn't the most talented. However, I didn't know of issues he was causing in the locker room, anything you can share - he always seemed like an ok guy (and seems to be doing a good job at Ohio State as well)?
Just because he wasnt WR1 doesnt mean he was overrated or underrated. I can only speak of the time he was a Titan - he was someone that was good at what he did that we as Titans fan since havent seen in a long time. Thats how bad our WR has been. He ran good routes and was very dependable, at times bailing Mariota on his floater throws.
