Oh I don't think that the tear down was for nothing. Its just not going to be a quick process and we have to be patient. I needed to be done. Next year, barring disaster, we're likely going to be a 3 to 6 win team again. If things go well this offseason, during the season, and in the 2021 offseason, then we should be able to be a 7 to 9 win team in 2021. Maybe even on the fringe of playoff contention depending on how everything else happens. Then again, with yet another good offseason after that, we could be a solid playoff team in 2022.

That's my hope. Not before that. But it will require getting most of it right between now and then. The good news is that there's very little getting in the way or holding us back now. Few obligations or players eating up dead space, once we move on from a few expected ones next month. But I really, really want the team to get it right and only look long term. No quick fixes, no big risks. Take your time and build it gradually so that its sound for the long haul, and we can then hopefully have a three or four year window of contention once we get there.

This is some hindsight 20-20 stuff right here. Maybe Tunsil was a future probowler, but none of the other three looked like they were anywhere close to being probowlers before Miami traded them

I mean, I said the exact same thing before the season...the Pro Bowl stuff really didn't matter as much as we were jettisoning solid players and not trying to replace them.

So, the powers-that-be for Miami failed to realize what they had in those players? The same people who will be spending all that cap space and draft picks to find new players?

That then indicates a problem with talent identification and/or coaching.

After watching the big uglies and RB's run and go through all the drills last night, no way should we give up a bunch of picks to move up to #1 just to pick the presumptive best QB available (Burrow, which is in and of itself debatable). Stay at #5 and take Tua or Herbert. Then look for the best O-lineman at #18 (Wills, Thomas, Jackson or Wirfs) and the best RB available at #26 (Swift, Taylor or Dobbins). You come out of night #1 with a potential franchise QB, a day #1 starting LT (or RT if you draft Tua) and a 3-down RB and that's a win, win, win scenario.

Wirfs is going to be a top 10 pick.. ive been talking him up for months now and the combine showed the immense potential he has to be a hall of fame left tackle.

He certainly could. I would love to squeeze 9 and 20 out of Jacksonville for 5, and then take him at 9.

I agree with you. However I’d grab Cam Akers ahead of the 3 RBs you listed. He’s Dalvin Cook 2.0.

I like Akers a lot, but he doesn't really have the elite speed that Cook does. Cook was one of my favorite RB prospects in a long time, and he's turned into the kind of player at the NFL level that I want the Fins to have.

However, Akers is about as fast as anyone in this year's class, and he's really athletic. He also might be a more patient runner than Cook, and is good at sifting his way through traffic, especially in short yardage. There's a lot to like. He reminds me more of someone like DeVonte Freeman, and that's a big compliment.

If we were able to take Akers in the third round after filling up on players on the OL, DL and DB with our first 5+ picks, I'd be excited.

A promising safety that didn't want to play here
A decent LT who wants the biggest LT contract (and possibly hasn't played up to that)
A decent QB who needed a change of scenery, as he was likely going nowhere in Miami and was not worth the amount of money he had been paid/was due
A decent RB who was in a contract year but had been underused/undervalued by successive coaching staff
A decent WR, who had likely alienated himself due to comments made against the owner
A DE who would have been mis-cast in this defense and was not worth the contract he was on.

I agree though that we don't want the trade up - the teams above us will want too much.

Not that I disagree with you, but let's say we sit at #5 and the big 3 ( Burrow, Tua, and Herbert) go before we pick. What would you do now? What QB would you take and where would you take him?

Build up the rest of the team and worry about QB later. That's an option.

I mean I know the scenario said to stay at 5, but if all 3 QBs went before 5 and we had none of them, then I'd be more than ok trading down to somewhere between 6-10 to pick up more picks because you'd still be guaranteed a great player with the 3 QBs gone.

I mean let's say we had something like
    Burrow
    Young
    Tua
    Herbert

Think of the talent available no matter where you picked between 5-10. I'd be hopeful that somebody has lost their minds over someone like Isaiah Simmons and could rip them off in a trade deal, maybe get 2021 first thrown in.

I dont think the getting a QB should stop us from building the team.

Let's say we take Herbert or Tua at #5 and dont give up additional picks.

After this, my attention drifts to the offensive and defensive lines.

I'm looking for a OT at 18 and a pass rusher at #26.

In the second round we swoop back in with a top center (I havent studied this position enough to know who) and maybe even another OT.

If I dont feel comfortable with our guards as the line coach, I look to FA to sign a couple veterans at a fair price with all our cap room.

I let Fitzpatrick start the year and force the rookie to battle with Rosen for #2 to start the season off. The hope being that by the time the rookie takes over, the line has gelled some.

Of course we need to hit the picks.

Brady was the product of a system and the best head coach to ever live... Brady is severely overrated.

    No on trading up...

If Tua is there at 5... Sure take him... No way I trade up for Tua either.

I want Okudah, Weaver, and Baun in the first round instead of using all three picks to trade up for Tua...

Maybe if he goes to the Patriots. Hell, Cassell was Brady for the Patriots.

The pats beat us with their third string QB....

Bellicheat could coach up my 92 year old grandmother to win football games.
