Predicting he signs with Seattle or Buffalo. Would make too much sense in either team.

He sign for cheap with the Bucs, to chase a ring with Brady. I don't think he can stay healthy for a season anyway.

They just signed a veteran running back like one day ago. They aren't going to sign another one.

Move this thread to the other NFL forum.

No to Gurley after adding Howard. I'm not even sure Gurley can play anymore. I kept waiting for him to blow up last year and he just looked slow and in pain. They had him on a pitch count all season long and it's only going to get worse. No thanks, I love him as a player, but let him be somebody else's problem. Lets roll with Howard and draft a rook.

The real question is whats the story with his knee? How bad is it? He clearly had trouble with it last year. He is only 25 so he is young. I am on record that I do not think investing a lot of money in a RB makes sense anymore.

That said, if we knew he would be back to his usual self I would be very tempted to pick him up. I think he is that kind of talent.

Since he was injured in November of 2018, he simply hasn't been the same player. Over his last 17 games stretching back to that point, he's broken 80 yards only three times, and has averaged less than 3.40 yards per carry in eight games. LA basically used him as a goal line battering Ram (pardon the pun) last season after their prolific offense got down close to scoring without his help. The TD numbers are highly misleading, because that was almost all that he was used for a lot of the time.

He's still young, so he could heal and gain back some effectiveness for a while. But I wouldn't bet on it happening, I wouldn't pay him good money hoping that he would, and I wouldn't count on him being the guy who carries an offense on his back any longer. The only way that I would look to sign him is if I already had a contending team with a good running game and offense, but needed and extra oomph in the Red Zone. Then it might be worth the risk. Someone like KC, New Orleans, or Green Bay who's all in for the 2020 season.

Unless Gurley is going to be the recipient of Mesenchymal Stem Cells... Which will reverse damage and encourage new growth in the knee... There is no recovering... He has a degenerative condition that is only going to get worse with time.

Chances are because of the deterioration that has already occurred, he might not even be able to pass a physical.

I think there is still a role for Gurley on a NFL team... His pass catching skills are quite extraordinary for a running back... But the days of Gurley being able to carry the rock consistently and average over 4.5 yards a carry are over. If he was getting 8-10 carries a game and caught 4-5 passes a game to get 15 touches each week I think he could still be a productive back... It is truly amazing how dominant he was ...70 NFL touchdowns and he is only 26 years old( by the start of the season )

I am not upset we signed Howard. He is healthy and moving forward is probably a better running back than Gurley

Falcons signed Gurley. Not sure how it makes sense to let Devonta go and get Gurley but okay

Coaching staff sees the writing on the wall and needs to make it work big time in 2020 or they're gone. Desperate times and they go for the big risk/big reward.

If you're a bad team needing to make some kind of splash move to excite the fans? Okay, maybe not 'splash' more like a ripple. :)

I mean, they were recently in the Super Bowl and freaking dominated most of the game...so it's not like they don't have talent there. I haven't paid attention so I don't know where Atlanta has gone wrong since then, so hopefully he helps them figure that out.

****ty defense, Matt Ryan hasn't regained the heights he hit during his SB run, and imo residual bad feeling from that SB loss.

Also having to play against the Saints has been tough.

They were decimated by injuries on an epic level last season. Huge number of very important guys lost for the year on both sides of the ball, including their OL. Started 1-7, and it was ugly. But they sorted things out over their bye and went 6-2 the rest of the way including beating the 49ers and Saints.

Ryan had just as good a year in 2018 as he did in 2016. He was good last year too. One guy can only do so much.
