I'm intrigued where this talk of Burrow not being in the top 5 has come from? I've seen it nowhere.

Hitman...you have a very interesting perfect glove in hand fit in there...James Lynch is a perfect fit for Miami although I do not think he makes it to 141. Personally I don't think Eason makes it to 39 or Dillon to 153. I love Tanner Muse who IMHO will carve out a 7-10 year career and contribute.

a total guess at this point, but close enough to guess...
#5 - In the end I think they go with Tua and don't have to move to do it.
#18 - they guy who slides.....but given we don't know who that will be....I go with Javon Kinlaw.
    #26 - Ezra Cleveland
    #39 - Robert Hunt
    #56 - Cam Akers

I’m with ya here. I really would like to see what Rosen could do behind a decent O-Line. If we could use the first two rounds on a couple stud OLinemen, a Safety, a quality DLineman and quality RB, I’d be beyond thrilled with that.

I like what you did there by emphasizing versatility. Cleveland could be a swing tackle, and Hunt a G/RT. Also, I read that Cleveland is best suited for a zone scheme. Is that what we can expect Gailey to run?

I think and a hope Bowden Jr will be a dolphin..just a mid to later round pick, we have so many might as well take that kid and see what Gailey can do.

Smaller but strong and tough, wildcat executioner who can throw some, receiver, returner, playmaker..

As a Kentucky football fan, I would love to see this kid with the dolphins. Competitor is the best description of this player. Literally won games by himself the entire time he was at the school. Biased, I wouldn't be mad if they took G Logan Sternberg either. Probably a little rough around the edges, but plays mean.

    my picks are:

    Intrigue, followed by:
    Dismay,
    Ohmygod,
    Noway,
    Ouch,
    Toobad,
    Krap,
    Notagain,
    Obsessional,
    Whiz-bang
What difference does it make. We will be mired in mediocrity forever.

Wait, wouldn't mediocrity be a big improvement over last years tanking team?
What, we weren't tanking last year; then what good is all this crappy draft? We didn't even get Tua!
Oh, we are tanking this year. OK. That explains this draft except for one thing.
What will we be able to gripe about if we make the playoffs this year?
Never mind, I'm sure someone will come up with something.

Looking forward to seeing everybody after the draft when we know what we will be complaining about.

    LOL at the ensuing chaos.

Just a thought I was having about Trevor Lawrence. What if we could trade down for a lower pick and a 1st rounder next year. That would give us three 1st rounders to trade up for Lawrence. That could give us just enough to make the move up. Just a thought.

Nobody will trade away from Lawrence, just too good to pass up. You want him, you need to be worst in the league.

    Good question.

I would say top LB. I think with this class being as deep as it is at WR, you don't have to get a top one in order to get a good one if that makes sense.

When looking at a prospect, do you prefer a player that has the physicals but isn't the most refined in his position, or a guy who has the fundamentals down but lacks the physicals that you'd want for a player of that position?

I'd always say a top LB since that's game-changing in itself. WR depends on QB, line, etc to perform while a beast LB just shuts stuff down solo. However, for our current roster a stud LB makes even more sense because we have a pretty good WR corp and this draft is extremely deep at WR (meaning, we can get a potential starting slot WR in the later rounds).

I think you can always count on Flores to bring in versatile guys. Gailey has always adapted to what he has or what is happening around him but his core has always been space and horizontal transitions. Look for less two Te stuff, flexing The te out on the hash, less wheel stuff, less tunnel screens and maybe a few more bubble screens, more combination routes with simpler options, more throws on or outside the hash, I say no FB options except in tight, and less inside unless they are deeper and a zone run block scheme on 3’s and a man block scheme in the running game against fours and stacks. Just my opinion.

Thanks! What do you think about Gailey's style? Is his offense current and a good match against the defenses of today, or are we looking at something that may be less productive because it's easier to defend?

Indeed. the only shot (Miami) has to draft Lawrence is acquiring now a 2021 pick from a team that will suck badly.

    No offense...

Mims is going to be drafted in the first round.
    Wirfs in the top 10

I love all of these players...

But there is no way... ever we are getting Wirfs and mims where you are projecting.

    To be fair..

    LSU beat Tua
    LSU beat Lawrence

And in the game against Oklahoma a couple of easy touchdowns were dropped

So yeah Hurts did not have his career best game against LSU... But Trevor Lawrence looked mortal against them and for most of the game they made Tua look average

Please be fair and compare apples to apples here.

Lawrence had flashes of brilliance in that game, although it wasn't his best.
Hurts looked totally lost until the game was out of hand. It seemed to me at the time that a lot of his stats in that game were garbage yards.

    Rick

Hurts at times did struggle... No question... But he made a couple of great throws that were dropped for touchdowns also... When you look at the score and see that LSU won big... after the game those plays do not matter... It matters that Hurts still made the right read and th great throw against the best defense in college football on those plays.

Not saying Hurts killed it or anything... Quite the opposite. Just saying it is not like Hurts absolutely sucked... and again that LSU defense gave Tua and Lawrence fits and kept them from playing their best also.

And as for garbage time arguments... Oklahoma only scored 7 points in the 4th quarter so it is not like they scored a bunch late to make it respectable.

They still lose to LSU by more than 2 scores if those passes were caught... I am not pretending that Oklahoma was going to win that game... No... LSU was in control for most of the game

As a long time, long-distance observer of the NFL, and nowhere near the knowledge of you guys, I am of the opinion that if a team drafts a franchise QB, whom the team is going to be built around long- term, then he has to be protected, making OLs a very high priority. Andrew Luck is a prime example of a star quarterback having to retire through injury because of lack of protection.

I know we have other needs, but OL must be addressed with one or even both of our other first-round picks.

I don’t watch college football enough to know any names, but I’m sure the talent is there.

On a side note, I’ve just been looking at the seven-round mock draft on the NFL app, and some players have RS after their name. Can anyone tell me what that means?

    Luck retired for other reasons

    1. He is rich, and smart enough to be a brain surgeon. Because he is good with his money he knows that at the age of 30 he can retire and his kids will never spend the money he leaves to them.

It is about more than a breakdown in pass protection for someone like Luck

I’ve been thinking about that as imo Grier & Flores seem much more inclined to trade (early) down than up. Jags is a potential top pick.. I’d add Jets, Giants, Bengals..

People that didn't watch the season have no idea how dominant LSU and Burrow were every single week- they did look like an NFL team as they slaughtered practically everyone in the top-10. Clemson is on another level of most college teams and they couldn't even hang with them.

I watched 4 or 5 full Oklahoma games (plus caught pieces of others) and I thought Hurts was very impressive last year. He's nowhere near as polished as Burrow and he doesn't have the perfect mechanical release of Herbert, but the kid's a serious gamer out there and an impressive leader.

Again though, we're comparing #1 overall to maybe #60 overall in this draft- I'd hate taking Hurts at #5, but I'd be thrilled to grab him late in the 2nd round. So if we're going to compare the two, lets do it objectively-

Burrow at #1 costs Miami three first rounders and possibly a 2nd rounder.
Hurts in the late 2nd costs just that pick, plus we get two elite OT and the best RB in the country.

So it's Burrow OR Hurts plus three other essential pieces of our revamped offense. Objectively, I'd take the Hurts part any day of the week because we're not betting everything on him succeeding. I would love if we took Burrow and I'd be happy with Tua or Herbert, but folks do need to make this an apples to apples comparison since that's what our front office is doing.

FYI: I was hoping with the situation they would start the draft earlier on Thursday and Friday. However, they kept the times the same. It will probably run longer because I think I heard that the commissioner will be more understanding when it comes to teams getting their pick in. Day 1 should be very exciting for us. I can't wait!

It depends on exactly what they are missing.

If it's an arm slot or footwork I can overlook that because its coachable.

If a guy just cant read a defense to save his life...I'm not touching it.

I dont think I'd want either of those choices. I'd rather look at what a player brings to the table in each area.
