We will have the beginning of a new era in Dolphins football. Franchise defining draft coming right up. For good or ill. But enough talk about who and where and all that. What are your Covid 19 party plans? Dolphins are going to be a leading story, Doubt they will cut to commercial before ALL of our picks anyway. Just going to be me and the girls, which means just me for this years party. Had a plane ticket and hotel reservations to Vegas for this. If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all! So I'm going to put on my throw back Marino jersey #13 and hope we draft the OG #13 (think about it). Or maybe #54, or 39 hoping that pick is generational. Game time decision, may change between picks, could be a 34 or a 99 by pick 26. Got some rib-eyes thawing out, Sweet potatoes haven't gone all bad and I've got mushrooms and onions, check. Plenty O' Rum. Check. Big fat firecracker to toast the gods. Double check. Tomorrow will be a day that lives forever I am confident. How you going to party?
I think my plans are the same as everyone's plans...I'm going to watch the draft alone at home. I could watch with my brother (Pats/Brady fan) but I'm already tired of hearing why he thinks Tampa will win the Super Bowl. So just me and some burgers/beer for the special occasion.
Chaulk me up as one of those that isn't doing anything special. It will be my daughter and me (with my lucky pectoral fin) watching on the tube and if I can get my wife off the PC, checking on things here.
It will be well gone midnight when it kicks off here, so will be just me and the cats on the sofa with a mug of tea and a couple of chocolate digestives. I say, it will be all so British, don't you know old bean....
Beer, budha and munchies and some celebration tunes ready for when they hopefully select..... Justin Herbert. Woo!
Watching alone in solitude/lock down.I be sipping my Vodka tonic and smoking a fatty when the pick comes in.
I miss the Saturday block to be honest. Probably will have some pizza, maybe a beer or glass of wine. Nothing special, I'm the only person in my orbit who really does the Draft so not a big change anyway.
Happy ****ing draft day! Oh football, dude, I totally missing you. I really ****ing miss you. I'm all alone all the time, all the time. Dude I totally missing you, the things we do together, where have you gone? Today is draft day, a special time, and honestly. I look forward to the ****ed up things you do. Dude I totally missing you, I really ****ing miss you, but draft helps the pain. Good morning. In less than an 16 hours, Grier, from here will join GMs from around the US, and you will be launching the largest conference call in the history of the Draft. [pauses] Draft. That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today we are stuck in lock down, and you will once again be drafting for our quarterback. Not from Oregon, Utah State, or even Oklahoma… but from Alabama. We're drafting for our right to win. To win Superbowls. And should we draft the quarterback, the Quarterback will no longer be known as an Alabama quarterback, but as the quarterback when all the Dolphin fans declared in one voice: We will not go quietly into the night! We will not tank without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to draft our quarterback! Today we celebrate our Independence Day! From mediocrity! "Four score and seven months ago our front office brought forth on this tank for a new season, conceived in rebuilding, and dedicated to the proposition that it is time to start over. "Now we are engaged in a great draft, testing whether our general manager or any scout so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of the internet. We have come to dedicate a portion of that bandwith, as a final resting place for those who here dream of playing for that team of the Dolphins. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. "But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate—we can not consecrate—we can not hallow—this ground. The brave men, on the team or cut, who struggled here, took no talent, far above our poor power to add or detract. The NFLwill little note, nor long remember the 2019 season, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the 2020 draft, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought to win a Superbowl, here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great draft remaining before us—five picks in the first 70 draft picks- we take increased devotion to that cause of winning for which they gave the last full measure of devotion—that we here highly resolve that these traded players shall not have been traded in vain—that this team, under God, shall have a new birth of winning—and that Dolphins, The Miami Dolphins, The Miami Dolphins #1, shall not tank and lose from now until eternity.”
Small gathering at my sister's (their family also big Phins fan), ribs on the smoker, 6-pack of IPAs and some cheap cigars and I'm good to go.
