I think they have a vision and they are sticking to it and it is consistent with the identity they are developing.....it is about 2022 IMHO....they took a slew of guys that need work that they saw and valued the upside on rather than the floor, they made coaching changes and they believe in their ability to coach up guys with solid attitudes and work ethic. I can see what they are doing and we can always disagree on a specific guy but the only real head scratcher for me was Davis. I don't like the player although he has the body and speed but why draft a one down attacking DT that has ZERO pass rush skills at the spot they drafted him at......I am not a huge fan of a LS in the 6th but I get that if he is here for a rookie minimum for 4 years then you save a lot of money...but he is light and if he gets shoved into a blocked kick in a key game then it is not worth it....I would never draft a LS myself...but other than those two they overvalued some slots a bot and got some value with Weaver and Noah Vowels.......

Absolutely contrarian opinion is what makes people look closer and I appreciate your opinion. We do disagree (a lot) particularly on what we see on tape and what we have seen...I was offering info on the times not trying to show anyone up, it has happened to me and I have misspoke names and **** before...no biggie. I am not here to argue at all...been there did that and left for a loooong time. Got n o problem doing it again if it comes to anyone else doing that. I do think that finding absolutes and targeting specific guys to fit what you want is going to cause rubs since we will all "like" different guys for different reasons........

By the way I do believe that Miami is viewing these two drafts (20 and 21) together in order to compete in 2022...just my opinion, but I do believe you will see next years crop as more game ready and drafted less on "potential". Their vision might be wrong but for the first time in forever it seems they have a vision and value set.

We didn't reach for him though, that's just about where he was fine to go.

I can see the argument about trading up, but that's useless speculation because who knows if that option even existed. It seems likely that it didn't. You are pining for players we didn't have a shot at.

Enjoying the draft and a team with a vision finally, my brother.

Moved from The mountains down to St. Pete Beach.....livin the dream.....

Just came back myself to check and see if I can stay out of the hard contact lol.......Dude every time I go by Shiloh's, I get the root beer floats and thank you for introducing me to their BBQ!!!!!! We gotta make a point to go there when we are both in SAT.

What are your thought on the draft overall?

This hit me shortly after they picked Iggy. They didn't get full of themselves after a solid finish and try to go all in. This is part of the process, it's ongoing. It wasn't about finding instant starters who can play at a higher level soon, but may be about tapped out for growth. It's high ceiling guys they get a free year to work on. The FA crop we got we see a mix of core guys (Jones and Van Noy) and bridge guys (Karras and Flowers).

It may come crashing down, but then so has literally everything else we've done since the latter Shula Era.

As for Malcolm Perry, at worst he's your typical 7th round washout. If he's OK he may be a decent special teamer on coverage. If we are lucky he's got Austin Eckler in him. If we are really lucky we may get Julian Edelman. He's the kind of 7th rounder you really root for and want to succeed.

Hey, a team is like a village. you need some of everything but do you need plumbers and bricklayers to make sure everything else is built right. We are setting that foundation for the first time in a long time.

they are trying to build something sustainable here and it’s awesome to see. Now that the foundation is down, next year we add the amenities.

that said, we can definitely compete this year for that 7 spot.

Weaver and Perry are great day two picks! I'm excited about both of them! Adding Breida for a 5th was a solid move! I really like him.

Weaver was an absolute steal getting him in that round. He was originally projected as a late first rounder/early second. I had him in one of my early drafts around that point. He can rush, but as with a lot of the FAs this regime signed, he's a guy who can set the edge. That is key, especially for this staff. I wonder if something happened to him, but...great pick and value.

I’ve just read on the Miami Herald App, and I quote, "The Dolphins won five games last year with a glorified XFL roster.”

As Flores said, games aren’t won in March and April, but I’m feeling much more positive now than I did in October.

Yep, that is what I would say, too. Not great, not bad. It wasn't flashy, but we added some cornfed that will hopefully help our OL, which was my hope going in. I would like to see a more aggressive approach where we have specific guys we want and move around the board to get them. However, I don't think that is Grier's style. It is what it is. Overall, if you count who we signed this off-season, and you include Tua and the other guys we drafted, there is a lot to be excited about next year.

I would especially like to thank all those who took the time to answer my questions, even if you thought they were dumb.

Thanks for your feedback. What is your take on the way they implemented that strategy in terms of where the picks were taken in relation to where they could have been taken? Essentially what you’re saying is that they went into the draft targeting what would normally be called reaches, so the question is, did they get those players at the appropriate spots?

I personally do not see the picks as reaches especially up front. Tua was an obvious need pick and a value at 5 if he stays healthy...he was not going to last until 18. and there was a big gap between tier 1 and tier 2 QB's....JAckson was not going to last until 26 and he was a clear OT5 and there was a big gap between he and OT6 so you have to reach a little and I do not think it was much of a reach. Noah Vowels for everyone saying he was out of nowhere is just wrong, he was on a lot of radars but not many "mocks". He was a top 15 pick if he played CB another year or two and it is questionable if he last until 39, and likely would have been top 15 next year......Hunt was spot on slot, Davis was slotted around his pick but I dont like the player, no one else was either great value or a reach other than Weaver was great value just because he is sort of a tweeter, and drafting as long snapper is asinine IMHO but you are talking about a great character guy that brings so locker room leadership and it was the sixth so I understand it, I just would never be OK drafting a LS....so we can all disagree about the players but no one was a clear "reach" IMHO.

He is sorta the DB version of Raekwon Davis....great athlete drafted on how he looks and runs but was never particularly productive or dominant...had always had the tools but just not a great football player for whatever reason.......IMHO he is likely done after bouncing around another time or two.....
