The Dolphins have come to terms with offensive tackle Austin Jackson, Field Yates of ESPN reports. Jackson becomes the second of Miami’s three first-round draft choices to sign. The Dolphins now have signed nine of their 11 picks.

Only cornerback Noah Igbinoghene, the team’s third first-rounder, and offensive guard Robert Hunt, a second-round choice, haven’t signed.

Jackson, 20, started for two seasons at USC. He earned first-team All-Pac 12 last season and won USC’s John McKay Award for the most competitive spirit in 2018.

The Dolphins made him the 18th overall choice.

Me too, love the player, 5 star recruit, very high upside, great character and work ethic to reach that upside, nasty demeanor in the run game, already good at that aspect, so young, just needs to work in a few technique things and we got ourselves a very good player for a long time..well worth the draft slot.

Given his youth and all of the weird things effecting this season and the world as a whole, I'm not sure we should expect great things from him as a rookie. However, he'll still be younger than a lot of rookies when he's in his second season in 2021, and will have a year with our coaches and in the strength and conditioning department. He could end up being a really good player for us for a really long time, pending health. Heck, he'll only be 25 the year we would need to extend him or pick up his 5th year option!

And the exact same things can all be said for our corner Iggy as well. I'm very enthusiastic about both picks. Jackson, BTW will actually be 21 when the season starts, but Iggy won't until about Thanksgiving.

IMO Jackson has the potential to be the best LT in this draft. He wasn’t the best OL coming out or anything and potential often translates to “hasn’t done anything yet”, but the talent is there. If 5 years from now you told me he was the best LT to come out of this draft, I wouldn’t be surprised.

He has very good movement skills for an OT. He can move like a guard and can get to the second level and make good blocks around the field. He definitely has to develop and put in the work to do so, but the potential is certainly there.

He was one of the few specific players I wanted us to target that we actually did. Hoping for the best from him. The potential is there and he seems like a good dude.

Most rookies haven't signed yet. The Fins and a handful of other teams actually make up the overwhelming bulk of the ones who have. We're well ahead of the curve this year.

Absolutely! I just want everyone signed bc of the weird nature of the offseason. Get them dialed in and learning the system. Even remotely, though i suppose you dont have to be signed to attend e meetings?

I'm not sure on that. However, from what I've read all organized activities are now finished until camp opens for all teams. So while I would also be more comfortable having everyone officially signed, for the time being it doesn't matter all that much, as long as they do get under contract before camp opens.
