Yeah I didn’t say anything about Tannehill’s need for Henry in that post. I was speaking about the team’s need for Henry to be able to compete with Kansas City.

You all are starting to get to the point where you’re having knee-jerk responses to my posts. Slow down and do some more nuanced reading.

I didn’t feel I was knee jerking. In all actuality, I felt I was being truly respectful in my last 2 posts to you.

Now I just scrolled back up and re-read again and you are correct...you said what you said you said. My error.

As to Tennessee’s defense, if anyone goes back and looks at my posts carefully, they’ll see I was critical of their defense, feeling that was the Titans Achilles heel, particularly their run defense. When Tennessee let their opponents get into 2nd and short consistently, the Titans defense struggled to get off the field. That was the purpose behind the detailed illustration of the one KC drive that sealed the Titans fate in the AFC Championship game.

As for needing super human performance from Henry, I think that’s a bit of an exaggeration. While Henry is an incredible back, his remarkable season last year was the result of a brilliant offensive scheme, sound textbook run blocking as well as his individual abilities. Many of Henry’s breakaway runs came right up the middle and you don’t get opportunities like that without sound run blocking.

Because of this, that’s what made Tannehill the most dangerous play action pass quarterback in the league. Tennessee’s brilliant offensive scheme in the run game opened the flood gate for play action pass and anyone who’s ever followed me for the last 13 years on this site knows that’s the strategy I’ve always asserted is the most effective method for moving the ball and controlling the clock...effective running and play action pass.

This past season, the Titans were the “Perfect Storm” for textbook offensive performance in effectively moving the ball and scoring points.

I can understand this person's ire towards Tannehill based on his memory of him in high school. Hell, there were folks I ***HATED*** in high school whom I ran in to at my 10 year reunion who were complete 180 opposites of what they were. !7 year old kids are truly ***STUPID*** but they are just that...kids!

Hell my sister, who is a huge *cough* Patriots fan actually met Dan Marino and said he was the biggest @sshole in the world. Now I love my sister but I don't put too much credence on her judgement of people due to her own personality.

The thing is though, everyone has differing opinions of people based on their own individual perceptions.

Going back and re-reading that REDDIT post...

If Tannehill was 2 years younger than the poster, then how would HIS day be disrupted if Mr Tannehill shut down the school for Ryan's signing to Texas A&M? He would have already graduated high school!

I'm beginning to think that's a straight up garbage post.

In today’s cancel culture? If the accusing kid had any real evidence? Tannehill would have to apologize to the public 3-4 times ot be cancelled by the virtue signaling woke-bro’s.

Not that I'm condoning any sort of bullying; I'm really not but let's be realistic here, kids pick on one another. I was picked on, hell I even did some picking on of my own...then I grew up!

Did a young high school Ryan Tannehill pick on any kids? Probably so but to think that a kid's behavior defines who and what he has grown into as an adult is quite immature and that person's reddit post is just that...Immature. "I knew Ryan Tannehill in high school and he..."

    Whoopty flipping do!

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming, already in progress...

The only thing I could think of is if the poster graduated high school at a later age or if Ryan Tannehill graduated school at a younger age.

But yeah, this story seems like a stretch.

That's honestly the first time I've heard a story like that about Tannehill.. so I'm not sure what to make of it..

I've heard similar HS stories of CP3 from several people posting about him .. those stories of CP3 i feel like there's a lot of truth on it because it wasnt just one angry person, it was several people

It must be true because an anonymous person on the internet said it was.

    1) No proof is offered. No facts seem to be verified above what is already public knowledge. The detail about having the whole school attend the signing ceremony seems very off to me, but it’s a different time and place from when I went to HS.

    2) It seems very out of character for Tannehill. Hell there was a storm in a teacup here when he ticked off a practice squad player for intercepting him on walkthroughs.

    3) We don't know what the relation between Tannehill and this alleged gay little brother. Specifically if there was antagonism between them who started it, why and what was the back and forth. When I worked in investigating insurance claims for workplace harassment it was common enough that there was a large degree of mutual antagonism.

    4) I am inherently suspicious of “he persecuted me because I’m [a protected species]” claim. When I was an insurance investigator I’ve had people claim I was persecuting them because they were a protected species, yet we didn’t collect data on that, and I was persecuting them because they had lied to me.
    Sometimes people are persecuted unfairly.
Sometimes people are persecuted fairly, but the person being persecuted thinks they are being unfairly targeted.
If the Reddit poster’s AGLB was persecuted by Tannehill it might have nothing to do with his sexual preferences but the AGLB might have reported it as such.

My suspicion index has been ratcheted up very high on this one.

My biggest issue with it is simply that it places importance on how much a player makes it their status on the team instead of their hard work and performance.

It's not necessarily the worst thing anyones ever done obviously lol but it was kind if lame to say.

I see it as a guy who didn't have the talent to actually make the team, was taunting a first round draft pick.

So yes, enjoy your practice squad paycheck, I'll be playing on Sundays.

The comment about the paycheck was denied by Tannehill. He admitted to making a comment about a "scout team trophy". His account was supported by Pouncey.

The full story is that it was during the walkthrough the day before the game. It the walkthrough, the offense is going through plays at way less than full speed. The defense knows the plays. Defender(s) (reportedly Chris McCain) were disrupting the plays and hindering the walkthrough.

Finally, Tannehill got sick of it and told them off. This was a reflection of Philbin's lack of control of the team. If this had been Tom Brady cracking down on nonsense, the entire league would have hailed his leadership. But, that kind of crap doesn't happen on a Belichick team. BTW, that was Philbin's last practice. He got fired after the following game.

    https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nfl/miami-dolphins/article38085930.html

The Miami Herald reported Monday that Tannehill grew angry when linebacker Chris McCain did something more aggressive than typical for a Saturday practice, saying something to the effect that he would prepare a scout team trophy for him.
    ....
Tannehill added: “Am I happy about everything I said? No. The way things went down? No. But I hold myself to a higher standard than to take a shot at someone like that, especially guys that I work with every day and I respect how they go about their business.”

Center Mike Pouncey backed up Tannehill’s version of events, calling the report “[expletive].”

“He doesn’t deserve that,” Pouncey said.

Chris McCain was an undrafted free agent with an attitude. He was a longshot to make the NFL. He ended up with 0 career starts. I'm going with the story told by Tannehill and supported by Pouncey.

Derek Henry got paid. $50M over 4 years, first 2 basically guaranteed. Makes him roughly the 5th highest paid RB.
Henry gets a solid payday without breaking the bank. Tannehill has to be very happy because his strongest weapon is back but not at a price that hamstrings the team.

Madden didn't put Tannehill in the top 10 QBs with their testing. Seems stupid.

Tannehill should at least be top 5 because of last season, and then adjusted down if he doesn't perform well this year (if there's a season).

Res. My man. You know I don't really take any of this stuff too seriously and I'm usually just effin' around. If anything, one could say that this thread takes away from creating or even having discussions, etc, in other threads. You know, it's the Tanne crack pipe thing.

Chiming in with some complaints or whatever, is really just an attempt to civilize. You know, someone 's got to be the Don Quixote of the board.

The thread has driven down so many twisted roads. It's become like a psychological or sociological experiment. It's like the Heart Of Darkness. This thread is kind of the definition of insanity. However, often, insanity can be really fun and interesting.

So, now,,,,,,with that said,,,,,I want to say; DO NOT END THIS THREAD. EVER. KEEP IT GOING UNTIL THE END OF TIME. However, time could be an illusion and there is no beginning nor end. So.......rock on, biotches.

Bro, you have been doing a good job in this big bad thread, seriously and for now on, I'm just going to think of myself as your corner man. You can be like Jake LaMotta, "you never got me down, Ray" and I'll just throw some dirty water on you from time to time.

Are some of the recently silly posts in this thread any different than some of the silly posts in other Dolphins related threads? At this point in the offseason, posts and threads are mostly nonsensical so this is nothing different.

As for the continued discussion relating to Tannehill, I'm sure there were similar discussions in Colts forums after they traded Manning and would be the same with any other starting quarterback that was traded to another team.

I don't frequent any Patriots forums but I'm sure they're having the same discussions related to Brady's signing in Tampa Bay.

    Cheer up! It's a joke :)

And of course the Patriots and Colts talked about their HOF QBs that have 8 Super Bowl titles between them and countless AFC Championships! We are still discussing a sub .500 QB!! It would be like an endless debate about Jake Plummer or Mark Sanchez ( two AFC Championship game BTW)

According to Pro Football Reference, Tannehill is 49-49 overall as a starter (including 2 playoff wins). So watch who you call a "sub-500 QB" buddy.......he's clearly better than that with stats to prove it!

LOL, I never in a million years would have posted that if we weren't all bored out of our minds waiting for football to start. If RT wins in week 1 against the Broncos though, then he officially has a winning career record in the NFL.

    According to this study
    https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2020/2019-rate-adjusted-pressure
Tennessee’s OL was middle of the pack in allowing pressure (not top 10, not bottom 10). This is after adjusting for things like down and distance, type of route being thrown to etc.

Miami was near the bottom in both 2018 and 2018, but apparently the author changed his model so I don’t know if the raw number comparison is valid. However even though the phin’s ranking went down their raw number improved (basically we were better than last year, but the other low ranked teams improved more than we did)

Of interest to me, I was completely unsurprised to see an Adam Gase coached team at the bottom of the list.
