Tannehill looking good so far tonight. Josh Allen reminds me of Tannehill a lot. It's what Tannehill could have been in Miami with a good defense and coaching staff around him.

Excellent first half by Tannehill under very difficult circumstances. We’ll see if they wear out in the second half because of being tired.

    These commentors are freaking annoying.

All this Josh Allen hype is ridiculous. I dont see the Mahomes comparision. Maybe both strong arms, but Mahomes accuracy is far better.

The Titans look fantastic tonight- did you guys see Henry grab that defender along the sidelines and throw him to the ground?!? OMG! RT is also looking sharp and he acted like a little kid with that 20 yard TD run just now....great to see him having fun out there.

I didn't expect the Titans to really compete tonight since they haven't practiced in a few weeks, but it really looks like they haven't missed a beat....despite not having their top two receivers. Buffalo losing is always a good thing as well....let's hope the Titans close it out in the 2nd half!

I actually screamed when it happened....it absolutely blew my mind that a RB can <words I can't say here> slap a defender into next week and not stop to laugh at him. That was simply awesome!

Somebody needs to call that boy's mama....his feelings are hurt bad from that mauling!

Humphries and Davis is out as well.

And Simmons their best D player is out. Titans are pretty impressive.

That drop was big though. Ouch

3 total TDs for Tannehill so far. Let’s calculate some obscure stat to discredit Tannehill. LOL.

IT IS ALL ABOUT WINNING!!!!!!! You can stuff your stats. Tannehill is an excellent QB leading his team to an impressive win against a very very good opponent under very difficult circumstances.

All it takes is actually WATCHING some of these games, and you see Tannehill is an excellent QB, who is driving that offense.

But you have to watch the games.

What have I said time and time again? The ONLY stat that matters is the scoreboard. You either won or you lost.

Tannehill’s played his *** off tonight. The Titans defense definitely set the offense up with 3 short fields

Missing what, 2 of his starting WR's and still throws for 3 TD's and runs for another.

Clearly he's a good QB. It's not because of Henry. Problem is we never put him in a position/system to succeed like they have.

I for one, couldn't be happier for the guy. Class act through and through.

Tannehill was 21/28 for 195 yards, 3 TDs, 0 Int, 1 rushing TD in a 42-16 thrashing of the then 4-0 Buffalo Bills.

Ya'lls z-score doesn't mean squat! What does mean squat is the scoreboard...and it was Tannehill, not Henry. Henry didn't get going until the 2nd half.

All round impressive game by the Titans (best so far this year). Tannehill had his 2nd great game this year too.

Update on weekly stats: Tannehill's rating this year now is 110.8 on 132 attempts. One more game and he'll probably cross that 150 attempt threshold making that 2020 rating a bit more meaningful. The probability he's "the same QB" as in Miami is smaller than it was at the end of last year at 0.021%.

Also update on Allen, who I do NOT think will sustain a high level of play (still has those accuracy issues). He was 3rd in passer rating league-wide before this game with a 122.7 rating. Now he's 112.95 on 189 passing attempts.

btw.. while I agree with this in general, I did find one exception. Remember the Dream Team? I watched some of those games from the 1992 Olympics after this year's NBA championship. Winning was a foregone conclusion. For them what mattered was point differential and making a statement.

So I think there are a few rare instances where winning isn't the only thing that matters.

I don't see the similarity. Tannehill never really had accuracy issues except the deep ball with Wallace. Allen has a systemic accuracy problem. Allen also has good pocket presence, which Tannehill didn't have. And Allen on 3rd down is really impressive if you think about it, which is something Tannehill struggled with.

These are 2 very different types of QB's even if both need the right system to play really well.

How teams win always matters. Teams that have won with stable team characteristics are more likely to win in the future than teams that have won via random variables.

The more I thought about it in the 1st half, the more I expected the Bills to dominate the 2nd half. There's no way Tenn should have been the more disciplined team, the more in-shape team. Yet somehow they were. That should have been a complete Bills blowout.....yet it wasn't.

This may be the best coaching job I’ve seen getting a team prepared to play a game considering the circumstances they’ve had to deal with.

Not intending on hijacking the thread and taking in a completely different direction, but to elaborate on the Dream Team...

I remember watching the Olympics for years and for years, the US would always lose the the USSR in basketball. The FIBA rules mandated the teams had to be composed of amateur players and in the US, it was typically NCAA teams that played either an organic team or an assembly of many. Following the loss in the 1988 Olympics, the FIBA changed the rules that allowed NBA players to be selected.

After years of losses to the Soviet Union in Olympic basketball, the Dream Team was assembled to finally bring Olympic Gold home to the US. The margin of victory wasn't a goal...it was victory itself.

Yeah actually that narrative is not quite accurate. Did you know that USA basketball voted AGAINST the rule change that would allow NBA players to participate in the Olympics?
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1992_United_States_men's_Olympic_basketball_team
FIBA changed the rule because ONLY NBA players were excluded from the Olympics. Players from other professional basketball organizations were allowed, and FIBA general secretary Boris Stankovic didn't think that was fair. In fact, he had introduced that same resolution in 1986, two years before the US lost to the USSR.
    https://www.usab.com/news-events/news/2020/04/fiba-votes-for-open-competition.aspx

Anyway, basketball reached the heights it did globally due to the sheer dominance of the Dream Team. If they only won the gold but weren't dominant you wouldn't have seen the massive expansion in global popularity of the game. This was truly a case where dominance mattered, not just winning.

Ryan and that offense are a perfect marriage. His intermediate accuracy which as always elite in Miami, is better than ever.

Once they get C Davis and Humphries back....they are going to be awfully hard to stop.

One thing I've noticed ever since the KC game last year that bodes well for the future; Tanny is not only playing at an elite level; he is genuinely having fun doing it. It compares well to the truly elite QBs, the great ones always seem to be having a good time doing it.

Right now Tannehill is third in the league in EPA+CPOE composite, behind only Rodgers and Wilson:

    QBs.png
    2020 correlations:

Passer rating and Derrick Henry's YPC: -0.85
Passer rating and percent pass dropbacks: -0.91
YPA and percent pass dropbacks: -0.64

So in contrast to last year, Tannehill is playing well and it's not a function of Derrick Henry.

What about the escapes from the pocket last night? Several big runs, including the TD run and a big scramble for a TD pass. The Bills had decent pressure in the first half and zero sacks.

Can we please stop talking about Tannehill needing big performances from Henry to play well?

6 for 6 scoring TDs in the red zone (4 by Tannehill). Tannehill and the Titans continue to dominate the red zone. This is huge. Here are the combined numbers for Tannehill in the red zone:

    5 for 5, 47 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INT, 2 carries 13 yards, 1 TD and a converted 4th down
