Bell is a diva no doubt, but I think he got Gase'd in New York. Clearly Adam Gase hates running backs that feel like they need the ball in their hands to be effective. I was vehemently against the Jay Ajayi trade, although it seemed to have worked out for the better. I'm all about adding Bell to our team if he can come in and be professional. He's a talented offensive player and one of the best running backs from this era of football. I say add him, take the chance, stick it to Gase and the Jets. Sometimes the gamble pays off. I think he'd work well under Brian Flores.
That wouldn't happen this weekend because of the Covid-19 rules, he has to test negative first five days before he plays with a new team and with the bye the following week, we won't see him run until November.
Then again, do we RB by committee because we haven't had a stud RB since Brown & Williams? We had Drake, Miller and a few others that took the majority of the workload, but then we shipped them towards the end of their rookie deals. Bell is 27 and unproven for a few years now, which means that it should be a mid-tier offer to lock him up for several seasons. On the other hand, he sat last year and should have pretty fresh legs. The more I think about it, the more I like this deal.
Well it sounds like they made a real run at him. I think in the end it wasn't about the money for him. The chance for a super bowl ring this year probably is what did it for him.
