Whatever, unlike you I actually watch Tennessee games. He had no Henry on the last drive. And drove them all the way into the end zone without Henry on the backfield.
Lmao "We need to know just how much he's capitalizing on opposing defenses' attention to the Titans' run game. And I don't know the answer to that question myself -- I'm just proposing the kind of analysis that would speak the loudest to me about how he's performing individually, given his surroundings."
Sure, but certainly we aren't going to consider an evaluation of a player thorough on the basis of nine plays.
Interesting debate in "First Take" on EPSN regarding Tannehill being considered league MVP for the year thus far.
Tannehill could become the MVP and we are still going to hear his usual haters trying to throw dirt on his name...
Marquis matchup with two of the top AFC teams. Big Ben openly hating on the Titans adds an extra layer of intrigue. Should be a slobber knocker of a game. Tanne needs to get rid of the ball quick. He will be facing a furious defense.
What I'm impressed by most with the Titans is the uniqueness of Derrick Henry. And I'm not saying anything about Tannehill in this post. I'm not sure I've ever seen a runner in the NFL for whom stacked boxes are meaningless, and who can run away from defenders the length of the field. How do you defend that player? Chris Johnson could run away from everybody, but he wasn't bullying through stacked boxes. Larry Csonka could bully through stacked boxes, but he wasn't running away from anybody. Henry does both.
Right, but any other running back his size would be brought down from behind within 15 or 20 yards from there. Henry on the other hand has the ability to run away from everybody the length of the field. So if you allocate eight men to the box to try to stop him, and he manages to get through there, now all of the sudden you’re facing a potential score for the Titans, whereas normally a player that size wouldn’t be any threat to score. That changes the entire method of defending against him. Having a guy escape for 20 or 25 yards against you is completely different from having a guy score a touchdown against you.
Titans have the best offense in the NFL by this metric, but the defense is in the bottom 3rd of the league.
Based on size asking for Chris Johnson to run over people is ridiculous lol. But CJ2k had good power for his size. I remember him running over defenders though. I remember one game he ran over a jags player and took it 80 yards for a td lol. I never seen a player leave NFL defenders like CJ2k. And dude would destroy angles defenders have. Ima give Henry more time before he moves up. We live in a what have you done for me lately society & short term memory society.
I think he's been elite since getting there too, but you have to count fumbles lost if you are counting rushing TDs.
I got blocked. I guess he didnt want to give a football example of a turnover entirely random and not due at all to the skill of any player involved.
The converse of what I’ve been talking about here with regard to Tannehill — Edwards-Helaire benefits from Mahomes, Tannehill benefits from Henry:
Don't sweat it Alex. He bans me, un bans me...bans me...un bans me. He's currently blocked me so at least I dont have to read nonsense lol
Knowing his full history, how do you NOT love the hell outta this kid?! I mean, "its huge," "each and every week," gets a bit old hahaha...but damn. Class act.
If I were a Titans/Tannehill fan, this would be the one thing that would still stick in my craw and concern me about how my team would perform when the going gets tough -- 3rd down passing performance: The sample size is too small to make anything of it conclusively, but it's worth paying attention to in the coming weeks.
When we eliminate garbage time and restrict win probability to 10% to 90%, Tannehill compares even less favorably to his peers on 3rd down:
Translation... "I can't admit it because I would lose face but Tannehill really is fantastic but I have to try and and find yet another way to validate my point of view" I've never seen anyone whose point of view is so hard headed.
This is only concerning if you completely ignore everything else that's happening. He has 4 come from behind wins this year alone. That is 4 out of 5! They are also a top scoring team for the 2nd year in a row. You should be asking yourself how much more dominating they would be if they clean up their 3rd down area, not how bad they MIGHT become cause of it. The road hasn't been easy for Tannehill this year. Henry has been less then great in all but 1 game, and the defense is surrendering a ton of points. THIS ALONE should be enough to change the narrative on Tannehill. The fact that they are 5-0 scoring a ton of points and winning off clutch plays is just a cherry on top.
