The bottom line is you would be able to find a statistic, fluke or not, to disparage any QB if you looked hard enough for it and at enough situations.
At this point, he is trolling. He has been shown multiple times that Tannehill is making difficult throws. The "focus on Henry" is NOT resulting in easier passes. Again this year, his expected completion % is way down the list. So, where the hell is the big advantage caused by defenses focusing on Henry? It doesn't exist. It is a figment of his imagination. BTW, Tannehill is 4th highest in CPOE....
Stephen A is a dope that shouldn't be on TV. He has been trashing Tannehill since before the 2012 draft. That twit want Brandon Weeden over Tannehill. He knows nothing about football and gets paid to said stupid stuff.
I actually think the funniest part is that he blocked me and I'm the closest one to agreeing with him about anything on any level. The issue isnt his love of statistics, it's the inability to determine what those statistics mean in any meaningful way. That or he really is just trolling the long game.
Tannehill has a 110.5 QB Rating while under pressure this year, which ranks No. 1 among quarterbacks and that will certainly be tested against Blitzburg
Watching a recap of the Packers Bucs game yesterday, the talking head is commenting on the pressure getting to Aaron Rodgers and how poor play on the OL can mess up a QB. Aaron Freakin Rodgers! But sure, Tannehill was the problem in Miami. F me people are hard headed.
Those are some tough defenses. These games will be interesting. Cant wait for Sunday against PIT though.
The Titans opened as 2.5-point underdogs in that one, which has now changed to -1. Apparently tons of money has poured in on Tennessee.
I don't understand it. If I'm a Titans fan and they're undefeated...with a quarterback that has proven numerous times he's clutch, I'm singing his praises! Granted I'm going to be objective about issues, but bottom line if going to be, "we're undefeated and you're not"....or "we beat you, didn't we?" For example, when we were winning with Jay Fiedler I was singing his praises! Granted I knew he was NOTHING like Marino and made no illusions about it but I stuck up for him and still do. I just don't get it. The Titans have a great quarterback, a great running back, a damn good receiving corps, a pretty decent defense (which is the team's Achilles heel), they're undefeated and folks are still complaining.
The only goal is to win...and they haven't lost. RT has brought them back over and over again so I'm not sure what more anyone could ask of the guy (for now at least). I'm befuddled by others who don't see it that way.
Theres few like that dude.... but majority of us are EXCITED to have him in Nashville. The guy has really brought something thats been missing since the McNair era. Tannehill has been an awesome player and most importantly a CLASS ACT GUY.
I've said a million times his issue here was never pressure. It was pressure unblocked coming from multiple angles on the same play giving him literally nowhere to go. Not every time of course, but having no idea where the rush might come from because your entire line is porous as a bucket with a hole in it with throw off any QB. Most teams know where the weak spot on the line is and so they can sort of adjust to the situation. When it can literally be anywhere on any down it's a problem.
Exactly right. And people couldn't grasp that simple concept, and couldn't understand how that type of pressure would be incredibly debilitating to the offense.
It wasn’t consistently bad play though, a lot of it was the inconsistency. On one play Billy Turner (for example) would block like a pro-bowler and then let pressure come through unblocked on the next. And it was line that across the entire OL, not just any one position. The QB just had no idea where the breakdown would come from. I think Ryan would have done better if the OL had consistently poor performers.
Yeah that is sort of what I'm getting at, if it can literally be from any direction on any play you cant make any sort of adjustments. Like, if you know pressure usually comes from the right side of your line you can chip with a TE, have a back block or fake and flare out, so on. If it can be anywhere, what adjustment do you make? I agree he would have been better with anything but our turnstiles that were on again off again.
You, me, key and Alex...the founding members of the Cool Kids Club. Lmao...I started to spell all 3 words with a K then realized what it would read...couldn’t do that. Lmao
I haven't been able to verify the claim but: Tannehill and Henry are the only QB/RB duo in NFL history to have greater than 30 passing TD and greater than 2000yds rushing in any 16 game stretch together. In their last 16 games together Tannehill has 35 TD and 7 INT Henry 2068yd rushing
From an article in theathletic.com: Check that.... more than some want to believe. Some of us knew it all along.
Ok, I'm NOT busting your chops but is this a "made up" stat? I ask only because every time you turn around watching a game you hear some of the most ridiculous stats from announcers ie; "So in so leads the league in receptions in the 3rd quarter during the second half of the month of October" "So in so leads the league in touchdown passes in 2nd and long situations when down by 14+ points" I mean, I know when we're analyzing Tannehill's continued performance we'll refer to last season in continuation to this season ie; Tannehill is 11-3 since being named the starter last season...things such as that but your particular stat...combining numbers from this season and last season to have a "measurable stat" that claims the only duo in league history to accomplish "this". Am I explaining my point clearly enough? I re-read it and it still sounds like gibberish...I know what I'm TRYING to say...just don't know if I'm explaining it properly. Like I said, I'm NOT busting your chops. I just aggravated sometimes with some of these "where in the hell did you come up with this" type of stat.
I don't quite agree with the number or some of the selections, but it is not too far off. I think there is an accuracy component of Tannehill's game that is simply being ignored. Also, his ability to focus and make difficult throws with pass rushers in his face is the best in the league. A skill he undoubtedly learned in Miami, for all the wrong reasons. Having said that, there are a few of those QBs with better escapability and improvisational skills that would be better under slightly different circumstances. In either case, top 10 is where I have said he belongs for nearly a year and he has proven me (and several others) to be correct. The league is catching on. Finally.
Dak is not Tannehill level. Hes borderline replaceable level in my opinion. Other than that I dont disagree with those names.
Generally I agree with you but in this case, it is not so finely sliced to be made up, IMO. It is simply looking at the most impressive numbers over a 16 game stretch. No different, IMO, than talking about any other stretch of games that don't constitute a complete season. Happens all the time. Playoff performances are a regular use of it.
I tend to agree with that. Dak had just as good a situation in Dallas for several years (except maybe the play calling) and produced a notch below Tannehill.
