Yeah, I think that's what threw me in Club...all the topics for the week are in one thread. I'd have to get used to it for sure but I agree with you, everyone there seems nice and they're all respectful. I've never had any problems or anything like that.

No, I completely get it- life comes first! I was just curious why the mains are so much slower than recent years and we have a variety of great answers.

Your stats are interesting though- anytime we've won six straight, we made the playoffs every time except that one year. That's possible this season but I really think we win at least 8 straight. Playoffs are a different story and nothing is guaranteed, but getting there easily is a milestone within itself since we won't be limping in. I really don't think we'll take the #7 or # 8 seed (if we expand to 8 teams over COVID...it is already approved if December games get cancelled).

The club at the Phins is the star of this website, it’s way more active then the other sites even though those sites have way more members..Is what it is..

The club is very welcoming to new members, and it would be nice if anyone who has been coming Here for a bit to join and get to know everyone, and learn why why this site is the truly the best out there..

There absolutely is a generational difference. As you said, the Gen Z crowd often does things very differently, where everything is temporary and quick. Having a continuous discussion on a message board that can go on for weeks or months isn't their deal.

But honestly, its OK if the board doesn't continue to grow all that much, so long as its here for those of us who are regulars. And there are plenty of us here who should be interested and able to continue to do for a long time.

That 1975 season really astounded me. We won 7 games in a row, 10-4. We had the same record as the Baltimore Colts but missed the playoffs due to the conference tie breaker. We were 7-4 in the conference; the Colts were 8-3.

Just goes to show, even in today's game how vital it is to win every game you're supposed to...and a few you're not.

In 2001, we finished with the same record as the Patriots, at 11-5. We actually had a better AFC record than they did, but they had a better record within the final season of the 5-team AFC East, so they were the division champs, and we ended up being the WC despite tying for the second best record in the conference.

In the end, it turned out that our Week 5 game against the Jets, which we lead 17-0 at halftime before going on to lose 17-21 was the difference between the WC and getting a first round bye. Had we been able to kick two FGs in the second half that day, the entire Patriots dynasty as we know it might never have been born. But we failed to score on all six possessions.

    Wannyball.

Ummm, think I have to kinda disagree with you about Wannyball. The Dolphins offense was ranked 8th overall, with no names such as Fielder (whom I really did like), Travis Minor, Ron Konrad, Cris Chambers and Orande Gadsden. Defensively is where our team was stacked, ranked 11th overall with Thomas, Taylor, Madison and Surtan.

We just didn’t have any real offensive weaponry. Gailey did the best he could with what Rick Spielman gave them.

That New York game is a prime example of the adage I believe deep in my bones...prevent defense prevents you from winning. There’s no way, NO WAY the Jets should have scored 21 points against our defense after being shut out in the first half.

Yes, the offense should have scored more points but defensively, Miami should have kept their foot on the Jets neck!

Gailey himself has stated that Wannys directive was to run three times and punt with a lead in the second half, and not try and keep the offense going. That choice loses games.

Well said DJ! I’m right with you. I keep waiting or the implosion or melt down. We may lose some games we shouldn’t but it’s clear that Flores can coach up players and Grier is finding the right type of players. Things are only going to get better.

I think what we’re seeing is how building a team the right way works. We stripped away all the guys with egos or who didn’t buy in. Focused on details and how to win the small battles. We saw it pay off last year. Now they’re winning the small and big battles.

I have wondered if perhaps I post a bit too much. Maybe some are discouraged from posting since I tend to open a lot of threads and post news.

If so I could cut back on that.

Nope, I don't think that's it at all- I was thinking about opening more threads. Heck, this one is well into page 2 and it's a nothing topic. So maybe we just need more open-ended discussion threads in general.

I don't think its that at all. If anything, its the opposite. You starting the threads gives people ideas of what to talk about.

lol.. maybe it should be more quiet if this kind of loss is what it takes to increase posting activity.

People posting is what makes this board fun. Even if I generally disagree with someone, I still appreciate the banter. Not saying that’s you but rather want to echo other people’s thoughts to keep posting. We don’t want this to be a ghost town.

I pay for club because I spend time here. The limited amount that it costs yearly is nothing to keep this board running. But I don't like the format with everything in one string. If you don't go in for 2 days it takes you 15 pages to get caught up on a bunch of stuff many you don't care about.

Also, until you become a regular poster, welcoming, not so much.

I really disagree with that, if your new, try introducing yourself and you will see the warmth and kindness.

As far as catching up, that’s the fun part man, that’s activity and it’s all relevant to the next game or current opponent, then when the season is over you have a draft thread all things prospects and an overall offseason thread..

Don’t know anyone who is unhappy..pretty special place of you take the tine to do it.

that's exactly the problem though. All the "action" is in the club. Paid. So if you stumble onto this site as a phins fan and the main forums are dead... why stay? When the board had enough members to support both paid club and non-club it was sustainable. Now... not so much. You've just got the same 20 people back and forth in the mains, and the same 50 some in the club. Of course I've pulled those numbers out of thin air... but you get the idea.

The whole problem with this site IMO is everyone posts behind the pay wall now. It's been that way for years. As someone who's been here from the start that is a big issue IMO. Especially considering message boards like this are a dying breed thanks to current social media platforms that breed hot takes and nonsense. Must of what you see here in the mains now that everyone hides behind the pay wall of Club.

Club was once a place of... nuggets and good stuff, in depth respectful, knowledgeable football talk. Sure; it still is from time to time, but for the most part it's just the mains with "elite" members.

Just my 2 cents as a long time member of this board (and the "club") from the start. Take it how you will, but... lets be honest. it's the truth.

I dont know who's in charge here anymore, but take notice... it's dying. If you stumble into this place, you're in the mains. It's dead. So... why stay? Everything is behind the pay wall now, no different than major media websites now.. so ask yourselves this... why would anyone stay around? The mains don't really inspire the confidence for new members to pay for the club membership... there's no content in the mains to make you go hmm... I should pay for more content. It's just... a model that may have worked years ago before twitter and facebook and other social media sites exploded. Now though... its a dying model.

Club now, isn't what it used to be. If you still think it is; you're kidding yourself. Honestly; as a club member aside from usernames and the number of posts I can't tell the difference anymore. It's just a place for the "elite" members of the board to hang out separate from the folks routinely in the mains.

It's pretty sad actually because honestly this whole forum has become a place for a group of folks to have their own online hangout exclusive to them in the Club and it doesn't breed talk and discussion around the Dolphins. Just look at the topics in the mains... If you were new and stumbled into this forum would you join and stick around? Highly doubtful. It's pretty sad.

Again, just my 2 cents as a member who's been here from the start. Nothing against anyone here of course... but if you want an answer to why it's so quiet around here... the answer is simply. The Club forum is the problem. Busy there... sure; but what incentive is that for new members? None. It's pretty foolish IMO. When it was busy and we wanted to separate exclusive nuggets and in depth chat from the rants and hot takes... it made sense. Now though, times have changed. It's time to change with it IMO.

None of your points is wrong. But the Club membership funds the board and keeps it running.

Another side is that we've lost a lot of members, many of whom were in club, who posted regularly in the non-football sections of the board. Some of those no longer exist, while others are populated mostly by just myself and a few others for the most part. Those sections were very lively when I joined up and before I joined Club a few years later. And I think that kept people interested and coming back when there wasn't Dolphins news to talk about, or if they sucked.

I pay for club to support the site but I purposefully spend way more time in the main forum, to support the site.
