I'm too wired to sleep, like a kid on Christmas Eve. I've been waiting almost 4 years since we last played UF for this game. I hope we win of course, but if not, I hope we leave them saying, 'Damn, they're going to kick *** next year.'

    What We Learned Tonight (JMHO)

    1) This team has a lot of potential. They have guys that can make plays at nearly every position. The talent level on this team is incredible but still young.

    2) The defensive line can make things happen. They pressured Tebow a lot and confused the offensive line of the Gators. They disrupted the flow of the Gators offense.

    3) There was a reason many people were high on Quarterback Robert Marve when he came to the U. He broke Tebow's records in HS as a dual-threat QB and he displayed those threats tonight. He plays with a swagger and confidence. The OC has to continue to get Marve outside of the pocket because he uses his abilities best on the outside. He is very mobile, a dual-threat QB that gives defenses problems. He made some questionable decisions but he is a freshmen. Jacory Harris is a very talented player but is not at the level of Marve just yet.

    4) The CB's are talented but are still young and it showed tonight. They have a lot to learn after getting beat a few times tonight. Lewis Murphy beat Brandon Harris downfield in the second quarter but the pass was over thrown. Later, in the fourth quarter, Lewis Murphy beat Bruce Johnson for a TD pass. It was called back but they were still beaten. Overall, they played well imo.

    5) Still questions surround the offensive line in my opinion. We had Marve go out of the pocket often so it was hard to analyze the line but they didn't get much push on running plays outside of a couple plays. They're improving though.

    6) We have three good backs imo. Derron Thomas showed some nice vision tonight and broke a few tackles. Cooper is still a guy who can make big plays. JJ was injured tonight but is a good back.

    7) The Hurricanes will be a good team this year, not a NC contender at all but a team that will battle it out until the end. The team in a year or two could be a very good one. The NCAA will once again hate the :theu: and I love it.

    1) Agreed. It will be great to watch once this team has the mental experience to go along with that raw physical talent.

    2) Up until that bad call on the reception they did a great job. After that it was just like someone let the air out of their balloon. Hopefully they learn not to give up when things look bad.

    3) Mostly agree. I think Marve will be a better pocket passer than Teebow, but less of a runner. I didn't think any of his decisions were all that bad, just a couple that didn't work out. You're right about Harris.

    4) They mostly got beat after that horrible call....like I said before air out of the balloon. What they need to learn is the mental aspect, not to get down after something doesn't go your way. Considering who they were up against I think they did great.

    5) Agreed. Their run blocking was pretty bad through most of the game and that is supposed to be our strength.

    6) Can't say much more than you did.

    7) Yep, I think we can contend within the ACC. There isn't a team in our conference I don't think we can beat.

Our defense looks tough as hell. They made some mighty big hits throughout the game. Our running game looks good. Marvin is looking like a very versatile QB who can run and pass.

Our WR's really need to learn how to catch. They were at times horrendous.

Let me say That I was very impressed with the Canes tonight, you guys earned my respect and you guys should be competitive again in no time.

But as you guys were still on the *** end of an *** kicking.(although that *** kicking should have been more of an *** kicking, and I feel that our SEC opponents will emulate your Defense now) I would like to brag a little, if its ok with the mods..

You're going to brag about having the game handed to you on a silver platter by one of the worst calls I've ever seen on any level of football? Go ahead, but it won't do much.

It wasn't an *** kicking, the team was deflated on that. In fact if not for the shanked punt before that you guys were on the end of the *** kicking losing 3-2 and being physically dominated.

You guys did play well, and we didnt play was well as we should have, but my point was that an *** kicking is an *** kicking, and I was just screwing with you guys.

You guys manged to make Tebow look human, and I'm not too pleased with the way we played but a win is a win.

And he still played like crap for that half, he remmebered that he was Tim Tebow later on but he deserves to be criticized for his crappy play.

He wasn't all that impressive in the second half either. Near the middle/end of the fourth quarter he played okay, but that was after the Miami defense was mentally worn out and packing it in.

The Florida Gators have worries and were exposed along the offensive line last night. The Gators are concerned after the Miami Hurricanes, who are not ranked, competed at a high level with them.

Despite win, Gators should be concerned - Andy Staples - SI.com

Definitely, we were missing our starting LG last night and our LT was only playing his 2nd game after being out for a year due to injuries. Oline should be okay in the long run though. I don't think we'll see another defense as good as Miami til we play LSU, by then hopefully we'll be okay.

I never thought I'd see you say that lol. I don't know why but I just never did. If this game was played a year later, this game could have been different. Btw, how do you like a little of Sean Spence? :D

What are you talking about? I gave you guys some props right after the game, despite all the garbage that was said in the game thread. :wink2: I was definitely impressed with the defense last night. Young is a very good DC.

We have Tennessee, Ole Miss, and then Arkansas before we play LSU. So yeah, I definitely think Miami has a better defense than those 3 teams.

Sorry, all I'm hearing is blah blah blah...:tongue2:

I think we have to get rid of Nix at OC. He's terrible. You guys have eight men in the box and we run straight at them.. Our defense is so young which is what I really like. Sean Spence is probably the next great LB, Brandon Harris is a very good player who can play both S and CB. Van Dyke can be a very good player if he lives up to it imo. I like Colin McCarthy, the white boy. He's not a player that stands out to you like Spence or Brown but he's a very solid player imo.

He drives me nuts. He takes ball control to an obsessive extreme, where he's more afraid of turning it over than he is of not scoring. There's a difference between utilizing your strengths and being stupid.

The worst thing is that he didn't even take advantage of the run game when passing; the guy called maybe two play action passes all night. Florida KNEW Miami was running it on 1st down; Nix should've called play action at those moments. Get Florida confused on 1st down, and 2nd and 3rd downs become much easier.

After Miami's freshman class was finalized, I believe it was Jorge Sedano who said this team would have to win with talent instead of coaching. I thought he was being an idiot, because Shannon's a decent coach. I'm starting to think he was right. This is a team that looks like it has to overcome its coaching to succeed, at least on offense.

It was for more than 3 quarters and a home cooked sec official call on a clear play that changed the game. Not to mention the no call on the horsecollar when Marve was taken down. The pass interference was a good call if the pass was catchable.

As far as Urban he showed his true classlessness Saturday night and apparently the recruits took notice.

As far as Nix hearing there are rumblings inside the program about his status after this year. Our defense is very good. Thanks to some new blood and more importantly Bill Young. Hopefully Marve will start walking to the line and checking into a play instead of the crap Nix calls.

Was it a horsecollar? If you can say yes than it should have been a 15 yard penalty. Did your receiver have possession at all? No Not in bounds not out of bounds. That is what happens when you have an idiot for an AD. Of course he was a Turd so it explains a lot.

Not going to sit here and say we would have scored a TD to win it but the SEC officials sure made sure you had the advantage.

I don't know GR, I thought that pass was catchable. He would have brought it in if RP didn't pull down his left arm. The ball was clearly in bounds. I thought that Phillips pulled down near the elbow area. My thinking is that since he got his hands on it despite being pulled down, it was catchable and likely would have been brought in for a touchdown. Just my thoughts on it.

However, I don't agree with the officials on the sideline catch. I didn't think he had possession of the ball. That play deflated our team. We didn't lose because of it but it sure seemed to have an impact on our team.
