Wow I believe this is the first official statement made yet. Not happy about his injury but I am really hoping the Pats season goes down the toilet.
I wouldn't wish injury on anybody - interesting to see how the Patsies rebound from this and it completely changes the complexity of the division race.
This is really quite unbelievable. So often we hear about nagging injuries to these big named QBs, (Manning, Favre, Brady, etc.) but they always seem to be lining up and never missing a snap. Even when Brady and Manning were out in the preseason, I had no doubt that they'd be back by week 1. So to see something like this happen - in week one, in the first quarter no less - is quite an eye-opener. Especially for the Pats too. I wonder if...no, wait. I don't really care. Kind of sticks it to Brady for playing those injury pranks on the media.
It's still not an official statement. Belicheat's line is that they won't know until tomorrow. But Schefter becomes the fourth or fifth person to report this. Michael Silver broke it, Jay Glazer confirmed it, Peter King echoed it, and now Schefter is amplifying it.
He is just reporting the official 'breaking news' line from NFL.com. Clearly, the art of tedium is one not without an easel and brush.
Remember when Marino blew out his achielles in that game against the Browns? If I recall at the time he had the most consecutive starts in the league.
Its not official but it come on dude its pretty much done. Also I wonder if this injury could be Culpepper like injury?
Well, it's not "official," but yeah, we've known about it since five seconds after Belicheat said they didn't know. Of course you know, Bill; why the heck else are you bringing in Chris Simms? I don't know if this is Culpepper-like. More Palmer-like, I'd say. Brady and Culpepper are two pretty different QBs... unless Brady is forced to retire, in which case, they're the same.
What pains me is that every win the Pats get the rest of the season is going to get some sort of herculean build up about the struggle uphill for them without brady.... goodness forbid they make the playoffs with Simms or Cassell because you won't be able to pull the sportswriters mouths of Bill B's tailpipe long enough to get news on any other teams.
We''ll relish his injury, but in the back of our heads, we all know Matt Cassel is about to start a colossal climb to the top of the league.
Oh god thats the last thing the league needs! Hopefully this is just further proof of the end of the Pats dynasty. What I hope for is to see Simms/Cassell walking off the field with a hangdog look being screamed at by Moss after another terrible pass with the Pats down by like 21 to a middling team while Bellicheat stares out blankly from his hoodie.
best thing about this is pats door closes even quicker..moss and the defense will be one year older next year and almost done
Its official From Fox The worst fears of New England Patriots fans have been realized. According to a release issued by the team, quarterback Tom Brady's 2008 season is over. "After extensive tests this morning, it was revealed that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's left knee, which was injured in the first quarter of yesterday's game, will require surgery. He will be placed on injured reserve and will miss the remainder of the 2008 season."
Nobody felt sorry for us when we lost Dan to an achilles tendon injury years ago, or when Ronnie tore his ACL last year. These things happen. Peyton Manning and Shawn Merriman have also had to deal with some medical issues as of late. It should make the AFC East a little more competitive. I hate the Pats as much as anyone, but I never want to see any player get hurt.
