I’ve been used to it. I’ve had to live with it for at least 25 years but (and I don’t know about the rest of you) I’m getting a bit fed up at the LACK of respect the Dolphins are getting from these so called “sports experts”. News alert...this are NOT your daddy’s Dolphins! They’re more along the lines of your grandpa’s Dolphins of the early 70’s and no idiot in their right mind would ever think to show them a lack of respect. Will we win out the season, go to the playoffs and actually be competitive? Maybe, maybe not but to continuously show a lack of respect and write them off week after week shows these folks they lack the basic fundamental understanding of leadership and true teamwork.
It stands to reason that you have to make noise in the POST season to get the attention of the talking heads. Consistently getting beat by the Chiefs, Ravens or, Saints condemns you to that "also ran" column. IF we can get to the play-offs the tune will change.
Meh. It takes time to create a brand and the only way to counter missing out on the playoffs 16 out of 19 seasons this century is to have an established stretch of strong play. I thought we were ready to launch when Sparano and Gase got us to the playoffs but we wound up regressing again. If we want "respect", we need to get to the playoffs this season and the next two. If we want "love", we need to win the division a couple of times. I love where we are and think that we're going to be one of the elite teams in the league in years to come. With that being said, I guarantee there were thousands of Jests fans saying the same thing after Mark Sanchez got them to the AFCCG two years in a row. Let's not worry about the opinions of others. They're either right or wrong; we can look back at the end of the season and either celebrate or look forward to next year. We earned the right to enjoy it.
