FYI ... in a bizarre collision of things I enjoy watching, Batista is on Food Network RIGHT NOW as an Iron Chef Judge.

He is actually doing pretty well, and comes across as well-mannered and articulate.

Awesome Jericho is the champ! Hopefully they give him a nice title run and not make him look like a joke, like the last time!

 

so is the guy Jericho replaced (don't want to be the one to ruin the surprise) really injured or is that just storyline?

btw i do love the idea of putting the title on him.

 

Storyline because he got "attacked" earlier in the night by Orton and others.

 

Yup, it happens a lot with the WWE. I'm sure you'll see a storyline with HBK trying to win the title from Jericho because he's the 'uncrowned' champion. Hey Iwouldn't complain, these guys put on great matches so if it happens hopefully the E does the smart thing and puts Jericho over him finally.

And again please don't book Jericho like a jobber this time, give him a nice run. I bet he'd draw some money for them if they did it right.

 

Jericho has been the most over person in the ocmpany all summer long. You have to strike while the iron is hot. Furthermore, from a storyline standpoint, Jericho just one-upped HBK again. Even in defeat...Jericho still comes out on top.

I expect him to play that up tonight in an interview segment. Have him talk about how he is still better than HBK. Jericho never quit, he wasn't pinned. The ref simply called to an end to the violence. And after the match where both competitors tore into each other, what happened? Jericho went on to fight another epic battle and through his tenactiy and gumption, managed to triumph over the rest of the competitors, and HBK packed his bags and went home. He doesn't care about the fans, he doesn't have the fire that Jericho does. HBK quit last night. HBK is a quitter and a loser.

That shold be th emessage Jericho tries to convey tonight. It does two things, it allows him to gloat about being the champ (and to big jeers) and keeps the fued with HBK going. They can possibly stretch this thing out until Survivor Series, have them take a break until Royal Rumble, and then have them fire it up again for the WM ticket.

Think about how cool that would be if one eliminated the other from the Royal Rumble, only to have themselves become distracted form the outside and get eliminated himself. They could blame each other for their shot at regaining the title and commence their blood fued some more.

 

I turned on RAW and just saw the tag match between Rey and Bourne vs. Miz and Morrison.... wow whata great match. I could watch these 4 guys fight each other any day of the week.

I also think Jericho/HBK should be the early WM main event, especially since it's in Houston and those guys can draw.

 

I agree. I think I may have to put together a mock WM 25 card soon complete with storylines, timelines etc.

God. I just can't get into Smackdown, no matter the amount of talent they have on that show now.

Also, Am I the only HUGE Mike Knox fan? I think the dude is great for being a big man and his character of just being a big, mofo who likes to fight and has a nasty attitude is perfect. I even dig the big gnarly beard. I think the guy is a manager/mouthpiece away from being a decent mid-card heel on the big shows (Raw/Smackdown).

I would love to see them build to a no holds barred brawl between he and Umaga. Perhaps have Estrada go back to managing (afterall, he is sick of having Teddy Long abuse him week after week). Estrada can say that he is Knox's agent and that the man is looking for challengers from any and all brands.

Have him rip through a few people on ECW, then have him start randomly showing up on Raw/Smackdown during a match ( I would love to see him interrupt a Jamie Noble match, just to watch Noble's reaction ) and decimate both parties involved. Security runs out and escorts Knox/Estrada off.

The next time, he shows up on Smackdown and kills someone else dead. As security goes to escort them out, Estrada and Knox walk by Umaga in the back. Seeing as how Estrada broght Umaga in to the WWE, he forces security to stop so that he can tlak to his former protege.

Estrada acts all condescending as he usually does and thinks he has Umaga in his back pocket. Umaga hears none of it, pushes Estrada into a wall and yells his gibberish as security jumps in before Knox can respond in toe. The camera closes on Estrada who is also telling Knox to calm down while giving a sneer towards Umaga's general direction off camera.

The next week, have Umaga in a title fight, or #1 contender's match where he looks to be winning. Knox comes out, distracts Umaga long enough to lose, and its on like Donkey Kong. Almost as soon as the ref strikes the mat for a third time, have Knox pounce on Umaga.

This ignites a HUGE brawl througout the arena and out into the streets where they have to be separated by road agents, wrestlers, security and police alike. Keep feeding to that frenzy for a few weeks until you have yourself a PPV match that is no holds barred. The brawl between the two could be insane, and Umaga has a bonafide 100% face in this situation.

Anyone else pick up the Mr. Perfect DVD? I'm about a half hour into the first disc, I had no idea about the Wade Boggs hunting story. Pretty decent documentary so far, I actually didn't know a lot about Hennig.

 

i don't know that story either, fill me in please!

 

Hennig and Boggs were out hunting with each other. Boggs got tripped up in barbed wire and ended up tangled up in the wire. Curt released him from the wire, but Bogg's leg was split open to the bone from the knee to the ankle. Curt literally carried him 3/4 of a mile back to their truck, and then drove him to the hospital. The Dr. told Boggs he was lucky Hennig was there, or he would have bled to death.

It was pretty powerful, and Boggs was in tears when describing it on the segment.

 

thanks for telling me about that, it'll be awhile til i can pick up that dvd probably. good story. when he hit his stride in WWE there was no one i liked to watch more at that time.

and his matches with Jerry Lawler for the AWA title, and specifically when he put Lawler over for the title was good stuff too.

 

Sounds like a boring PPV. I forgot Booker lived in H-Town. I hope his house and family are ok, esp. family. I could have sworn they hinted around to Foley being at this PPV....maybe its the next one. I dont like them splitting up Abyss and Morgan so soon. They should give them a tag team run for awhile, IMO. Sounds like another Russo stink job.

For whatever reason I just can't get into TNA, not sure if it's the 6 sided ring or that when I watched it a few times it just felt like the minor leagues (like WCW Saturday Night). Don't get me wrong, they have a lot of talented guys there, maybe it's just me as I can barely get through watching RAW these days.

 

Agreed. For awhile, I gave them a long hard look. They knew they were behind the WWE and thus, acted accordingly. They promoted new starts and new concepts, which was interesting. But somewhere along the line they felt that that needed to take on the WWE. Christian, Angle, Booker, Nash, Sting, Jarrett, Foley. All of them, except Christian are over the hill and viewed as washed up by the casual fan. Meanwhile their assets in wrestlers like Samoa Joe (who is the champion but not the star), Styles, Motor City Maching Guns and others waste away on the mid-card and silly fueds.

The key for TNA will be for them to follow up big ime on the Sting heel turn. Have the new blood vs/ Old Guard fued, but make the new blood the faces! And have them win out. Nash could be gone soon, as could Sting. Which means they have an opportunity to really elevate a couple of younger guys and see what they can do.

 

Russo must ....GO!

I don't know, but it sounds like generic Jim Johnston music so chances are, you have.

Also, He is another big man that I like. I give the WWE a lot of crap about certain things, but I must hand it to them. The newer talents they have brought up have been stallar in my opinion. Or at least have the ability to be. Swagger, Bourne, Ortiz.

Kudos for that. I also think a tag team/fued between Knox and Swagger would be awesome. I think those two as a part of a tag team within alarger faction would be awesome.

 

Anyone else catch Reagen Mauia in the audience at Raw? Or how heavily the Bungels got boo'd ?

 

I dont like the new Samoan guy. He doesn't have much of a personality, and his ring attire is blah.

Manu is a good wrestler, but I think he is miscast with Rhodes/Dibiase. Yes they are all multi generation stars, but Rhodes/Dibiase come off as kind of douchey pretty, privelaged boys.

Whereas Manu comes off as just a fat dude they hang out with. The faction of Orton, Dibiase, Rhodes will be a good one though if they decide to go that route. Switch Manu to ECW and let him play a kind of monster heel similar to Umaga without the screaming.

 

i noticed that too! the fans were hammering them. pretty funny.

 

i agree, and i'll add to that; he just doesn't look like anybody i couldn't take in a bar fight or out bench. he is kind of cartoonish looking.

 

i agree, Manu doesn't fit in with Rhodes and Dibiase, and that a heel faction with Orton woulds probably click. but i don't see Manu becoming a monster heel, he isn't scary looking, let alone physically intimidating.

maybe in time he will be, the Samoan wrestlers always seem to get considerably heavier given time.

 

I wish they would bring Ro'Z back, I thought he was great. I really digged 2 minute warning...Ro'Z and Jamal were an awesome tag team.

 

Jamal is now Umaga and Rosie...is somewhere doing something. I have always thought that a faction of the Samoan Swat Team would have been great. Bring back Fatu, pair him with Manu, Umaga and Rosie and have them become a faction. Maybe they hire their services ala APA to the highest bidder. Have tinges of perceived racial bias built into their promos.

Make it their mission to basically disrupt the WWE. They don't need to have titles, they don't need to even be that prominent. But a nice little lower mid-card faction that occasionally gets called on by the main eventers for cannon fodder/protection/enhancement would be good.
