A little surprised there isn't a thread up on this already. Former Dolphin MLB Zach Thomas is a finalist for the 2021 HOF class (FINALLY!). Let's help get him in! https://www.profootballhof.com/fanv...ium=HomeSplashBanner&utm_campaign=FanVote2021 It's a stacked class with several deserving first ballot candidates, so vote as often as you can.
About ****ing time they put him in, can't believe Urlacher is in and he ain't yet. One of my all time great Dolphins!
Fair, but I think Urlacher just had the bigger Name being a high draft pick and all. I think they were pretty similar impact wise and one could argue if Urlacher was the better player.
Urlacher was good and probably deserves it overall, but he definitely benefitted from the Bears linebacker legacy. He's overall VERY comparable to Zach, who should absolutely be in if Urlacher is.
Zach Thomas would have been in the HoF at least five years ago if he had a Super Bowl ring -or maybe even just played in one. Hopefully he finally makes it this year.
I hope he gets in. He deserves it IMO. To put up stats similar to Urlacher, be a later pick, undersized and to still put up the career numbers he did... He's certainly deserving of being in. I'm not sure the actual voters will see it that way unfortunately. At least as Dolphins fans we know the player he was and how he overcame his initially perceived physical shortcomings with hard work, dedication, determination & a desire to be the best and most prepared player on the field through film study and instincts. Guy was great to watch; there's no doubt about that. I'd love to have an MLB on this team like him right now.
In a fair world, he would get in. If the people selecting were voting on merit instead of headlines, he'd already be there. Zach was a beast for his entire career but his consistency was overshadowed by players who frequently flashed. It kills me how guys suddenly become worthy of enshrinement 30 years after retirement.
If Peyton Manning hates playing against you, that should be merit enough for HoF. My 2nd favorite fin of all time. Epitomized the player who overcame the measurables and completely dominated.
Got my #54 on. Come on Zack. Tonights your night. Apparently because of COVID the big dude traveled around the country and the finalists have known for weeks. Not getting "the knock" tonight. But they are going to be showing it on the NFL honors show tonight on CBS. it's on now east coast time. I have to wait for it to show at 9 here in the PNW. Couldn't hardly sleep last night. I gotta find a way to watch it now. I can't flipping wait 3 more hours!
Look, it’s a SAD fact of football life... If your TEAM was not a perennial deep in the playoff team... If your team didn’t win a Super Bowl... Or if your team didn’t even play in a Super Bowl... You’re not getting into the Hall of Fame until you’re an old man. It pisses me off to no end because if anyone deserves it, it’s Zach Thomas. Zach will ALWAYS be a Hall of Famer in my book, regardless of what those idiots say.
Don’t know if anyone caught it in the video I posted, but Zach led the league in tackles from 1996-2008. He was a one man wrecking crew!!! Again, it goes back to the whole “team” stat of playoffs and Super Bowls. Sorry for ranting. It just pisses me off to that extreme.
It's a numbers game. Alan Faneca just got in after EIGHT tries. I would have loved to have Alan on our team back then. Zach has a pretty good shot at making it next year.
Looking at next year's list of first-time eligible players, I have a hard time believing any besides Woolfolk are going to scoop players who've been waiting. If Zach was the first or second player left out this season, that bodes well. On the other hand, if he doesn't make it next year, he's probably only going in as a legacy pick sometime way down the line.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Faneca open the front door of his house to greet the HOF presenter guy. He's lost a ton of weight/mass.
