KJ wants to get paid a little bit. I've been watching him play for years and he could absolutely 1000% be the MLB Captain of this Defense for the next 3-4 years. He's making 6.5 mil yr for Seattle on his last contract and is on the market.

Easy worth that and more to me to have that kind of talent, veteran presence on and off the field, and just flat out baller.

Let Baker soak that up for 2-3 yrs and look out.

Wright will be 32 years old this season. These days, almost all LBs tend to hit a hard wall around that point. Since they started testing for PEDs more strongly about ten years ago, its very rare to see LBs play at a high level much beyond where Wright is now.

Last year, the player older than 32 with the most tackles was DT Suh, with 44 total tackles at age 33.

The LB over 32 who lead in tackles last season? Sean Lee of Dallas, with 32 tackles at age 34.

The thing is, Sean Lee was on injured reserve until Halloween, played in 9 games, and only started two. Given those circumstances, 32 tackles is pretty decent.

Fair. But broadly speaking, my point stands. Older lbs just aren't productive right now like they used to be.

Last month, Wright said he would be eager to return to Seattle on a fourth contract. But it is clear he will not make a financial sacrifice to do so. Wright graded as Pro Football Focus’ No. 8 overall off-ball linebacker last season; he was the only player to post double-digit totals in tackles for loss (11) and passes defensed (10). He has started 140 of the 144 career games he has played since the Seahawks drafted him in the 2011 fourth round.

I dunno, I think there's been a solid track record of recent linebackers who have played well at older ages- Derrick Johnson, Karlos Dansby, Thomas Davis, etc.

I think the Dolphins could certainly benefit from having a veteran guy play part time that they can develop someone behind- that MLB position they can basically narrow down to being about instincts and play recognition, and not worry so much if a guy has lost a step. They're using the same general stuff to accommodate both 260+ pound 2-down linebackers and DBs.

Yes, there used to be. But the further we've gotten from the 2011 CBA when testing became stronger for PEDs like HGH, the less we've seen it. Its been the same with WRs and TEs on the other side of the ball. The last five years or so, its been very rare to see guys play at that age really at all, and especially at a high level.

I think that we should be investing heavily on the offensive side of the ball in free agency.

Or defense is already solid. We have draft picks, and in my mind, we should be trying to get young on defense, so we can let guys walk in the future. Look at a team like the Ravens. They are always getting poached via free agency, but they seemingly never have terrible contracts on the books.

I think a guy like Corey Linsley makes an immediate impact, and should be a big time target. There are a several top WRs available too. I would pick guys that we like and target them now.
