In 2020 Chris Simms ranked the QB's like this: 1. Joe Burrow 2. Justin Herbert 3. Jordan Love 4. Tua Tagovailoa 5. Jacob Eason (Full 2020 breakdown here) This year, in 2021, these are his top 6 QB's: His full breakdown here: YOUTUBE
I don't think Jordan Love is necessarily better than Tua, or at least he hasn't shown it yet. The other two definitely are.
I just don't get it, or see it, with Wilson. At all. I watch Lawrence, the ability is there for even a kid to see. He's clearly a rare blue chip prospect that only comes around once in a while. I watch Wilson, and I don't even see a guy who clearly should be in the conversation to be drafted. Period, let alone at the top of the first round. His arm seems to be weak, his release isn't tight, he never sets his feet when he throws, and a lot of his passes seem to wobble where they're headed. It seems really weird.
Wow I watched wilson in numerous games and not seeing where u say he has a weak arm.He has a rocket and can throw from any angle.
Podcast on Simms' takes - https://open.spotify.com/episode/5C9zFq1dBCzoDYPEXTCO6S 2018 1. Lamar Jackson 2. Josh Allen 3. Baker Mayfield 4. Sam Darnold 5. Josh Rosen 2019 1. Kyler Murray 2. Drew Lock 3. Dwayne Haskins 4. Ryan Finley 5. Jarrett Stidham 6. Daniel Jones 2020 1. Joe Burrow 2. Justin Herbert 3. Jordan Love 4. Tua Tagovailoa 5. Jacob Eason And this is a fuller breakdown of why he's got his 2021 rankings the way he put them (possible language warning - haven't watched it all yet):
From 2:02 - should the Dolphins take a QB with the #2 pick? Then at 4:39 - Where would you put Tua in this year's rankings?
Kellen Mond is way overrated. Or at least he was as a college QB. Unless he's a better pro than he was a college QB, he's not worth taking.
I would obviously take Trevor over Zach Wilson, but let me say, Zach Wilson is the real deal. He has some of the most immaculate film that I have ever seen. He is gonna be an absolute star in this league.
I really haven't been that impressed with Trevor for the few times I did watch.I didn't really study film though I must admit.I did on wilson and absolutely love him and we're in big trouble if he goes to jets were ****ed!. Mark my words he will hands down better than Tua!
I think we should seriously consider him if he slides to 3. His film is so crisp. He has the arm talent and accuracy to make every throw on the field. But what I truly adore about him is that he throws balls into NFL holes at the collegiate level. What drives me nuts about scouting reports and NFL coverage on accuracy is when you see guys throw a moon ball to a wide open college WR and say, "Wow, look at that accuracy!" Those "accurate" throws are just athletic WRs demonstrating basic ball tracking ability.
The idea that Lawrence would fall to #3 is absolutely absurd. If there were 10,000 universes where this draft happened, I don't think that would occur in any of them. But if the question is whether the Fins should take him if he's at three, then the answer is Hell yes. There is zero question that it would be the best thing to happen to the franchise since Marino fell to them in 83.
Putting Wilson ahead of Lawrence is just a ploy for eyeballs/ears to pay attention to him. It's not that his stuff is bad, but there is a lot of draft media, so it's not surprising some of them try to find ways to stand out. Nothing against Wilson, but Lawrence is just on a different level as a prospect. The biggest danger is that he kind of does like Clowney and enters the league bored and struggles to up his game after a few years of essentially screwing around in college. Wilson has some good film, but the lack of quality competition - especially since he's a "one year wonder" type - is concerning. Personally I'd go with Fields over him, but both are good and legit prospects imo. And IF Grier/Flores believes one of them has a better chance to be a high level impact QB than Tua, by all means. However, I think the anti-Tua sentiment is just overplayed, there were so many predictable and obvious factors leading to him struggling, and then people want to compare to Herbert. It's been one year. One.
I hear ya'. but keep in mind. Steve Young went to BYU and he turned out ok. A lot of small school QBs have done well in the NFL. Tua played in a great division and......
I would do it a second but have no faith in grier's ability to evaluate Qbs . 2 nd bust for Rosen and I feel Tua will bust at pick 5.
So, IF there's anything to these rankings then, depending on what NE does at the QB position, we will end up with the 3rd or 4th best QB in the AFC East. Thank you Mr. Ross. Stick to real estate.
Well, I am sure Wilson will take a season to get his stuff straightened out, but eventually, yeah. That's what all these people talking about "we have to give Tua a chance" don't understand. If he flubs this, it's not just "oh well, it was just one draft pick." It's us not being in a position to pick a top-level QB next season, or the season after. We had two chances, which is more than most teams get, and one we spent on Tua, and the other we traded away. If they guessed wrong on him, we're talking another rebuild and YEARS more of mediocrity to get to THAT point. We've been here before.
His history/past record actually isn’t terrible. Probably as good if not better than most pundits. And I see he has Dyami Brown in his top 3 receivers . So I won’t hate on this man.
