This scenario from the folks at PFF (via Yahoo! Sports)

"PFF predicts that Deshaun Watson would be acquired by the Miami Dolphins — who trade the No. 3 pick, Xavien Howard and and two more first-round picks. The Patriots then would trade the No. 15 pick for Tua Tagovailoa, which ultimately would lead to the pick going to the Texans.

    Here’s what PFF said:
"Houston trades the rights to Tua Tagovailoa for New England’s first-rounder, as the Patriots trade out of the first round for the second straight year. Pairing Samuel with Xavien Howard (see the trade at Pick No. 3) gives the Houston Texans, who were the eighth-worst team at turning salary into WAR at the cornerback position in 2020, a pair of coverage guys with which to rebuild their defense in the Justin Fields era.""

I'm sure the Tua haters would see this as a cause for joy at a Patriots misstep, but I really, really, don't like the idea of Tua with the Patsies, even if we get Watson.

I wouldn't care. I'd be more ticked about trading Howard.

We'd need to draft a CB at #18, or sign a vet guy to get by for a season or two if Howard is traded. I'd rather we trade Tua to the Bears for #20 and then we could still root for the kid and keep him away from New England.

We could give the Texans #3 and #18, Howard, and keep #20 for Miami to use this year. I'd throw in a 2022 second rounder if needed and call it a fair trade for Watson -it's easily four first rounders+ in value.

I don't expect Tua to ever be a great NFL QB, so I'm not afraid of sending him to the Patriots in however that would end up. If we can upgrade to Watson, it would be huge.

Four first rounders and X. Oof.

I'd love to bring in Watson, but that's verging on too much. I also don't want to trade within the division like that.

For that price, I'd rather just draft Zach Wilson at #3 if he's there and still move Tua to NE. But I'd be really surprised if anyone was offering that high of a draft pick for Tua.

I just couldn't move him to New England, first rounder or no. No way in hell I am taking the chance that we are giving them a franchise QB who will bite us in the *** twice a year for a decade. Just can't do it. Welker was bad enough and he was just a WR.

I do think if we did shop him, there may be a team willing to give up a mid/late first though. The WFT maybe, the Bears if they strike out on Wilson.
