With all the QB talk this year, and our focus on WRs etc. it looks like LT Penei Sewell is being overlooked. Here are a few quick looks to remind us why picking Sewell at #3 would be a great value, if unsexy, pick. (Starting at 3:12)
If we don't get any trade takers, I don't care about sexy picks. And it doesn't matter who is at QB if you can't protect them. Were already a little iffy at Center. I would like the pick if its him.
Yup, he's a great pick and massive upside at #3...probably the safest overall pick. It's not sexy but I wouldn't be upset if that's the direction we decide to go.
My dream and wishful thinking would have Miami trading out of 3 a few spots, taking Sewell and then trading up to get either Pitts or Chase.
Didn't watch the video before but as a pulling guard in high school and college, that WR screen was BY FAR my favorite play EVER! If the WR had the timing down right, he'd take a quick step to the sidelines and then cut back inside right as I launched myself at that helpless CB as he's turning around. The goal was to literally hit him so hard that his helmet went into orbit in the stratosphere, and I can't tell you how many times I knocked the CB 2-4 yards AIRBORNE sailing out of bounds. When that play was called in the huddle, literally the whole team smiled because they knew what was coming....either we'd mess up and catch a flag OR it would be a huge gain, but either way someone got knocked out and the film room would go nuts the following Monday. I also completely whiffed one time and went sailing thru the air out of bounds myself, which was also pretty popular in the film room, LOL. Darn I miss that stuff! Sucks I was 5' 11" and 225- I really think I had the talent to play in the pros. I just picked the wrong position because I loved hitting people too much- shoulda been a fullback!
Not opposed to drafting him at 3 in the slightest. Outside of having a capable game winning QB, an elite offensive line is absolutely the most important aspect to having a successful offense in my opinion. In fact, I think the offensive line should be our top priority. If you can't protect the QB, it wont matter who he is throwing to. It also wont matter who the running back is.
Completely agree. Assuming our OL improves but he’s the difference between a decent/good OL and a /good/great OL, I wouldn’t think twice about taking him there. I don’t mind some of those next tier of WR’s and if you take two of them, ones gonna hit. But now your OL dominates, running game improves, Tua gets more time and a solid core of WR’s, we could be good. Especially when you factor in our defense. That’s why I’d love to take at least 1 defensive player with our top 4 picks.
Is this guy the savvy pick at 6? Beyond any pass catcher we improve both the run and pass games. Potentially more impact than any other non-QB.
I'm sure many would be disappointed if we don't get a playmaker at 6 but Ive always been a big believer that you go QB, pass rusher or pass protector with those top picks. He looks like a beast and would immediately make our running game and pass pro more formidable. I just hate that we've already invested so much in our OL and most of them are very young.
I would take him. Kick Hunt inside (which he has played). We would be stacked on O line for years to come with Sewell, Jackson, Hunt and Kindley. A great core group going forward like some of those Dallas and Pittsburgh O lines that came up together.
