If not, I wouldn't even bother to waste time downloading it. First of all, you have to wait 10-15 minutes to get into a game, then it lags/freezes/etc. Really horrendous job they did with this. I think I'm going to wait the extra month for Resistance 2.
Yea, the lag and the long loading times blow. But the game play is awesome. When they get the servers and bugs fixed, the game will be great.
Actually, the game play on the final product will mirror the beta, and the beta game play is trash. The lobby/community system, and obviously the lag/load issues will be improved, but not the game play. The combat style is a notch below Resistance, Call Of Duty 4, and even Warhawk and Rainbow Six. That's very disappointing. Huge L for Sony on this one. Resistance 2's "revamped" game play in the private beta is average at best. I may just purchase an Elite if Gears 2 is great. And this is coming from a major Playstation fanboy.
Qore lands you the public beta on September 8th. Pre-order beta play started yesterday. Luckily, I didn't pre-order it. A friend of mine did, and pre-orders receive two codes.
I have to disagree with the gameplay stuff. I was able to get a code, and was playing today, and I thought the gameplay was great. I really enjoyed it. I'm actually looking to get another code for my buddy...we kinda got screwed. He had preordered, and still hasn't gotten the email with the code yet. So, if any of you guys have an extra code kicking around, could you PM it to me? Thanks
Finally got in a few games without freeze. Poor man's Rainbow Six: Vegas at best (the first one). I'll wait an extra month for Resistance 2.
They released an update to the beta. The load times are better but the disconnects are still there. Edit: I downloaded the update and tried to play 2 games, but after i killed 2 people it kicked me out of the game both times in two different rooms. I read that the load times and lag and the disconnections wont be fixed until the end of next week. So until then, ill stick with COD.
I think the beta is better than R6, the first one. Of course, I was a huge Socom fan on the ps2, so, that might have swayed my opinioin.
New patch is out... I haven't had much time to check it out yet. Hopefully it is greatly improved from the last time i was on.
There's nothing stopping them from changing gameplay based on feedback. That's what the beta is for. Plenty of games have undergone some pretty big changes based on beta feedback, most notable in my mind being Team Fortress 2.
