    .......geez.

Now we really, really, need IOL.

We're doubling up this draft, or we're going Sewell and hoping that Jackson works elsewhere...

Huh, trading line depth with little return two days before the draft...interesting move. Could this be a signal to our intentions?

They signed Fluker a few days ago. I swear to God if they draft Slater I'll cry.

    "Source." Urgh.

This is really weird for me. I started out a card-carrying member of the 'Sewell no matter what' club. I've since been convinced that Miami need more IOL than they do tackle, and that can be addressed in round 2 and 3. There's some apparently elite pass catching talent this year. So now the Sewell pick almost feels disappointing... but, if I cast my mind back, there's a solid argument that an elite talent like Sewell could improve both the pass and run game.

If he, or another OT is the pick at 6...or 9, then I'll be really hoping it works out..

Initially surprised. I thought Flowers was solid last year.
But I think the organization views Kindley as a great player and cornerstone for the line. I think they want Kindley at Left Guard and growing along with Jackson.

Fluker/Davis are both passable at right guard. Or they may really like a tackle in the draft and be planning to kick Hunt to RG.

Either way our draft just got a lot more unpredictable.
I Still don't think Sewell is in play. Trading out of 3 and rumors that Miami doesn't want to draft an opt out that high... has me believing it won't be Sewell.

To me, this choice is like comparing a Ferrari to a Toyota Camry. Sewell is the Camry- top scores across the board and will still be running steady in 200,000 miles. Pitts/Chase are the Ferrari- fast, exciting and always makes a big splash...but requires a ton of upkeep and just isn't practical as a daily driver.

For the cost (#6), Sewell is the much better investment since we'll get solid production for his entire rookie contract. I should want Sewell at #6, we all should, but I'd rather be impractical and hope we pull a Ferrari into the garage at the exact same price. It's less reliable, but darn, stomping on the gas makes it hard to think about a Toyota as a legit option.

Hopefully Grier is smarter than I am...I'd go with the 'vroom vroom' every time.

So Sewell now seems more likely I guess.

Also our recent free agent signings have not worked out have they. Luckily the draft appears to have worked out better!

I do not agree with that.

Yea, having one weak link is problematic but if you strength is strong enough then all of a sudden that weak link looks much better.

Good move. The little I saw from Flowers was not great. I thought he was hurting in pass protection because he moved so slowly and seemed to struggle with recognizing rushers who were his responsibility. Just my observation from limited number of games watched.

I have always been an advocate for drafting Sewell, so if this means we're more likely to do it, I'm good with it.

I agree that this doesn’t necessarily effect the 6 pick. I think 36 becomes the sweet spot to grab an O lineman.

Leatherwood, Humphrey, Dickerson, Sam Cosmi, Carman, Dillon Radunz, Jaylen Mayfield, Trey Smith, Walker Little, Liam Eichenberg, Brady Christensen.

As long as our staff has high grades on 3 or 4 of these guys... I’m sure they’re confident they can get a guy they like at 36.

I think that things may have come full circle.

At the beginning of the draft process, I wanted Sewell, Chase, or Pitts. As the progress moved along, I firmly believe that I was aligned with the Dolphins brass, and the rankings were:

    1. Pitts
    2. Chase
    3. Sewell

I really think Grier made his trades feeling comfortable that either Chase or Pitts would be available. I get the vibe that it feels like Grier may have overplayed his hand, and Pitts and Chase may be gone.

If that is the case, I think he is set up to make the most out of his oops. I don't think we should panic at all. Sewell is a fantastic talent, and there is nothing wrong with taking him.

If I were Grier, I would take Sewell and start exploring options to move up and grab Smith.

I don't think this changes much for us. If Pitts/Chase are gone, it allows us to go Sewell (BPA IMO), and gives us the ability to move up and hopefuly get Smith/Waddle.

If Pitts/Chase are there at #6 we can take them and draft OL with one of our 2 2nd rounders.

It went from nice trade to free up cap space to a desperation move to get rid of a player. I hope the draft goes better than this deal.

    Better by subtraction.

More concerned by the failures of the GM in drafting and signing less than talented players.
