“We like the guys that we added this weekend, but I’ll say this,” coach Brian Flores said, “These guys have a long way to go. They’ve never played in an NFL game, they’ve never set foot in an NFL meeting or a walkthrough, or anything. They’ve got a long way to go, so it’s our job as coaches to help these guys get acclimated, learn the system, learn the terminology.”

I don’t agree with all of Grier’s decisions but is there a better GM/head coach combo in the NFL? Also happy that we’ve embraced diversity and are the standard of that in the NFL.

The importance of this cannot be overstated, because when they are not on the same page (as so often happens), there is little chance of success.

Anyone else on here feel incredibly love-hate with Grier.

Like on one side, he went off the beaten path and signed Grier who is by far the best coach that we've had since Jimmy Johnson.

I think he has done a masterful job at handling the cap as well. If you objectively think about it, it feels like right around this time every year, we have an absolute disaster of a contract hanging over our heads that is little an anchor holding our franchise back. Now no team is perfect, and you can probably find a contract or two that you don't like, but I would probably say that it is more of a, "We are paying too much for player X" as opposed to "How on earth are we gonna get this off our books?"

Okay, here is an interesting one - roster construction. I would not have believed you if you would have told me that our roster would have this much talent. Seriously, in previous years, we would already be thinking, "Man, I really hope undrafted WR can emerge as a serious contributor." Right now, I feel like we have the opposite problem. We have too much talent at WR, DB, TE. My thoughts are I hope we can trade some of these guys. The part of the double-edged sword is that I don't think we will be able to get any sort of compensation for these guys.

Our roster is also built right. No longer are the days of "trying to find value late in the draft at OL" or signing a grizzled vet who we hope have a little gas left in the tank. Our line is built on young talent.

The biggest negatives for Grier is probably player selection. He is inconsistent at best on his draft evaluation. Based on the offseason, I think they realize they made a mistake with Noah. One year later Tua is now a debatable pick. We got rid of all of our FA signees last year. In fairness though, I am happy to see Miami quicker to admit their mistakes and move on. We used to be terrible at this.

I tend to think that Grier tries to get too cute on draft day. With his trade up and down to 6, netting us an extra 1 in 2023, I am left scratching my head. I think we would have been better off just taking Pitts. How many times have we been just short of getting a solid RB. It's kind of crazy that we have so much talent elsewhere, but our RB room is essentially a room of late-round/un-drafted guys. He acquired Howard and Brieda last season which were total busts. I find this whole thing odd because I do not think that it is a hard position to address. Just to throw out a name, I would like to see Miami inquire about Dallas's Tony Pollard.
