I gave up on the game a while back. Its just so damn difficult and slow to accomplish anything at all. I'll probably get back into it eventually, but I just always felt lost and chasing my tail. Hours after hours to get almost nothing done.

After two major updates, I decided to give the game another shot, and I starter over. I'm really glad that I did! A lot of it is now bigger, better and more user friendly. I feel like I've accomplished more in 5 hours this time than I did in 20 last go around, and I'm going to stick with it.

So, I'm about 25 hours into to rebooting my playthrough. I've accomplished a lot more. I don't die very often, and I've figured out how to improve my exosuit, my ship and my multitool to pretty high levels. However, the game is still pretty sparse on giving an idea about what you're supposed to do, or how to do it. I have several tasks that involve building something with a material that I've never come across. No guidance as to where I'll find it. So, I've looked online, but most of it is labeled as being rare. So, I hop from system to system, check out hundreds of planets, and see what I can find. Slow progress.

Well it sounds a bit slow progressing but I imagine that's pretty accurate for space exploration lol

It looks great on the PS5, with minimal load times and nice draw distance. Starting over with a new save yet again was a slight bummer, and your PS4 and PS5 saves are separated. I went back to my PS4 save just to enjoy my living starship. All the hoops you have to go through just to get one has me waiting on doing that mission on my PS5 save.

The Expedition missions got myself and a couple friends back together to play for a couple evenings, but I've been busy enough that it's hard to set aside the time needed for this game.

I wonder what Hello Games has in store for the upcoming 5th anniversary?

Let me know if the building and settlements are any more user friendly on the PS5. They are so much harder than I think they should be on the PS4.

I've had ONE base I put serious effort into building, which was on an exotic moon with a great view. It was wiped away by one of the big updates and I've never found that perfect moon location again. Once I do, I'll see how much base I can build on a PS5.

Once I realized that the "story" to the game wasn't much to speak about, the bases became my big focus. But I struggled terribly in getting anything to work properly. Its not an intuitive system at all.
