Just checked on his status. He ended his season with the Titans on IR and then was released afterwards.

He remains an unsigned free agent.

...This might be emotional, but if we're taking flyers on guys...Dolphins - pick him up for the minimum and let his finish his career as a Dolphin. You might get some decent backup snaps out him, a veteran presence in the locker room, and he gets the chance, at last, to play alongside a competent Dolphins defense.

EDIT - I missed that he didn't play the 2020 season at all. His last season was 2019.

He was offered a contract by the Broncos in Sep. 2020 but turned it down.

If no-one else has picked him up is that it for him? Has he declined to the point of ending his career?

I think Cam is done. In addition to what you already laid out, he's 39 years old.

Easily one of my all-time favorites...hope we sign him and then he retires.

Love everything about Wake. Wasn’t a blue chip player and through hard work, resilience and disciplining himself, turned himself into one of the best DE’s in the game.

I'd take him as a 3rd down rusher. But at a minimum he should sign a one day deal with us to retire.

If the Kracken’s time has come, then so be it. Other than Jason Taylor, the Dolphins have never had a defensive end like him.

Sign him to a one day deal and let him retire home…as a Miami Dolphin

Maybe I'm the only one but if you asked me how long Cam Wake played for the Dolphins I'd say 5-6 years.

The dude was in Miami for 10 years, LOL. Wow! How time flies.

Still, he literally began his NFL career with Miami at the age of 27. I don't think anyone really ever quite put into perspective how old he was. Even in his glory days as a Fin, he was 30 - 35 years old.

Love Cam. But he's probably a better coaching prospect than a reliable on-field contributor at this point. Would LOVE for him (and JT) to work with Phillips.

If he wanted to play on 3rd downs this season, I wouldn't hesitate to say yes. I realize he's past his prime, but the guy is a fitness guru with an incredibly high motor.

He didn't play last season, and after he notched 2.5 sacks in Week one for the Titans in 2019, he didn't get another the rest of the year, getting just 4 QB hits in his final five games before being place on injured reserve. Overall, he had 5 sacks over his final 16 games in which he was healthy.

Wake was awesome, and yes he keeps himself in amazing shape, but he's 39 years old. The oldest player to record a sack last season was 34.

One of my all time favorite players. Easily far and away my favorite defensive player we ever had here since I've been watching. I loved Zach Thomas and JT, Tim Bowens, Terrell Buckley, Louis Oliver, and Troy Vincent, but Cam Wake is easily my favorite all time. I have his jersey, I was fortunate enough to watch him live against the Titans where he destroyed Marcus Mariotta twice. I would not be opposed to signing him for the season, but I don't think he has even been thought about as an option by anyone other than fans like us.

Oh, this ought to be fun...What was your favorite Cam Wake moment?
Mine was far and away the walk off safety against the Bengals some years back. I thought the Bengals had us beat, it certainly looked that way. We somehow got the game into overtime and we had them pinned on their own goal line. Wake busted through and straight up mollywhopped Andy Dalton in his own end zone and that was game! When you can tell multiple awesome stories about a player that's been a huge part of your franchise for a decade, I think it's safe to say that they belong in the HOF.

Man, you're right about that. It got somewhat better as his career went on, but it never went away. Early in his career, it was just absurd. There would be weeks that the OT would just grab two fist fulls of Wake's jersey over and over, even tackle him, and there was almost never a flag. Disrespect towards both the team and the player.

I remember getting in an argument with someone on here that for some reason was a ref apologist or just someone who loves to argue when phin fans complain (A self hating finfan) one one play that was holding where Wake was held so bad that the offensive player literally spun him around by holding his jersey and spinning him.

Wake had the best first step I have seen on the Dolphins and I loved when he was blocked by a tight end because it was always ridiculous how easy he made the rush look.
