It's so ridiculous to waste words over stories like this. Anybody can start an unattributed rumor. There's actually incentive to make something out of nothing for some reporters. It's only news when it happens.

The reporter got to make the rounds on all of the talk radio stations today. He got his five minutes of fame.

Three 1st rounders for Deshaun would be a good deal, but only if it was before the draft and with a clean legal situation.

Again another example of why Houston is a poorly run team. You return that phone call even if it’s just to say “thanks, but no thanks”. NFL teams are in a bubble and do repeat business with each other. Not returning the call just shows disrespect, and when the news of it gets out it only reduces your image further.

The team that made the offer had to be Philadelphia I would guess.

Them or the Jets...there was wild speculation around them at one point as well.

    Possibly.

But, Philly obviously doesn't like Hurts. I feel like Houston made it clear to them that Watson wasn't available and they traded for Minshew soon after. I would put money it was Philadelphia.

Barry Jackson strongly hinted yesterday that it’s Stephen Ross who wants Watson.

Drama is never a good thing, hope they can anaesthetise Ross for the off-season....

Honestly, that explains everything. Ross sees a shiny new toy that we can't afford on the long-term path we've laid out for the team, so our front office is placating him while pretending to show interest. Meanwhile, it's business as usual developing Tua and hoping any other team signs Watson ASAP so we'll stop hearing about it.

So Ross hasn't been available to reporters for 27 months but somehow Mike Florio knows what his thoughts on Watson are?

League circles, the owners and GM's all talk and things get sprinkled to reporters. Not enough for a story, per se, but little tidbits here and there. It's a very insider type of thing and if you cross a line with news that's not news, then those circles avoid you like the plague. So it sounds like that's what is happening here.

IMO Barry is just trying to bait Ross into making a statement. By all accounts, Ross is a pretty smart negotiator and would know his side losses leverage if he is out blabbing to other owners on how he covets Watson.

BTW - both of Barry's points in his tweet are wrong. In this interview, which was less than 27 months ago, Ross is smart enough not to fall into a tampering trap as it relates to Brady.

Wasn't Florio the same one who was claiming that the reason Tua took over the job so early last year was because Ross was demanding it? Do they have some kind of relationship or beef?

Robinson's awfully reactive. I didn't read Darlington's tweet to be critical of his reporting, just of the silliness that reporting on something that has zero corroboration necessarily brings. Robinson's trying to breathe life into his reporting after admitting that he had no source beyond speculation.

Really wish Ross would just stick to writing checks and let his GM and Head Coach figure out how to manage this roster and team.

The Dolphins said Stephen Ross didn't say anything about a trade.
