At some point you can't keep putting Brissett in for QB sneaks. Im surprised we got away with it the second time.

He is a big dude, hard to stop even if you know it's coming, plus he can always throw it too. Ugly, ugly win, but I'll take it.

Guys we're going to win. NE is out of time outs. Fantastic win really. Going to NE and gutting it out.

    Lots to work on though.

Yeah, we'll take the W today. There's alot of work to be done though. It starts with the OL, then Tua and then that pass defense today. Not enough pressure, not good in coverage either.

The good news... it's week 1. Plenty of time to clean things up which is the good news, but the bad news is there's an awful lot to clean up.

It’s undeniably clear that we are winning in spite of Tua though. That has to change...I’m so disappointed in the way he played. He looked way better this preseason. I was rooting for him.

Ugly but I'll take any win against those scrubbers. Funny seeing them shuffling out at the 2 minute warning, LMAO at them. Lots to try and put right before next time out but I'm happy with the W.

Fix the OL; the offense is going to struggle despite all the talent otherwise. I'm more upset about how bad the team looked versus happy we managed to eek out a win. It was Miami's game to lose, and they nearly did. Just unacceptable for a team that should be looking at a playoff run this year.

Indeed. Here's my one hope - New England's defence was always going to be legit this year. And their OL might be one of the best in the league too. If it proves to be the case that we overcame them early on and they go on to dominate, Miami might find they have an easier time of it with others. In short, maybe they made us look worse than we are. Maybe...

But yes - fix the O-line.

Yes we can. He's 250lbs and he's going to have RB's to push him after his initial burst forward. It's fine.

Tua looked good for the most part. The INT was idiotic, but he's trying to make a play. It happens. He's not as athletic as he needs to be, yet he's always trying to do more than his body is capable of. Reminds me of Johnny Manziel trying to be Johnny Football in the NFL, only to realize these boys are too fast, quick, and powerful (only the athleticism, nothing else, obviously). I still have hope. He's still young and inexperienced. And he's night and day better than last year. I'm more worried about Miami giving up on him, than his ability.

The offensive line completely sucks. That's going to be a long term problem. Sick and tired of Miami neglecting it, drafting WR's instead... I'm rooting for Waddle, but protecting a 6'0 QB should be the highest priority.

Having said all of that, NE isn't a joke. Their entire defense is back and they're an elite unit. I'll take an ugly W on the road vs. the evil empire.

An ugly win for sure. Just a dogfight, and I need to check my heart rate.
Damien Harris is one bad dude! He's going to run all over everyone this year. Pats offensive line was on point all day today too! I like Mac Jones....Coincidentally, he looks like a young, very raw Tom Brady. They've got a star in the making with him I do believe.
It's never easy to beat the Pats and we did it in their house today! Like I said, this was blind date ugly all the way through and I'm surprised we got the W.
Tua played the role of game manager yet again. He looked much like a superstar early on in the game, but regressed back to last years version as the game went on. I don't expect this to be the norm. Again, this was ugly and the game script was most likely scrapped once the vibe changed. The INT he threw was up for grabs and I think we all knew it was disaster once it left his hands. Still....It was a 50/50 ball that I thought #88 should have came down with. It went the other way and it was costly, but it didn't end us. Other than that, I saw some quick decisions on Tua's part, I liked the velocity in which he threw with, and his release looks a lot quicker this year. All positive signs. I mean, look at Aaron Rodgers today....It could have been much worse. As they say, a win is a win and we are 1-0 sitting pretty on top of our division to start the year. I'm good with that.
As far as next week goes? Well....I'm fully prepared for Buffalo to mollywhop us, but lets hope we can do better against them.

NO NO NO....as a Dolphins fan, you are not allowed to say that! The media has been saying that nonsense all week long! LOL

He definitely played a good game and was a lot sharper than I expected, and I do have a feeling like the Pats lucked into a solid quarterback. Let's just temper our expectations when comparing him to the evil one, LOL.

That's because Jones never, ever ever threw his way. That's why X repeating with 10 picks this season is highly unrealistic...he may not see 10 passes in his direction. It's AWESOME that he basically sealed the game for us though!

Tua just threw it up for grabs so even if its caught it is still a bad decision.

Still though the biggest problem with that play is Tua instantly having to run for his life because his protection was nonexistent. Also led to him taking a big hit.

First games are often ugly. No one meaningful has played a down in almost three weeks. So ugly or not, getting a win on the road vs a very good defense is fantastic! Go Phins!

Me either...at least for now. Week one, on the road in Gillette where no visiting team wins- and we lead the entire game. The offense didn't click like I expected them to, but they did make enough plays to secure the W. Onto the Bills!

To be fair, Gisecki had two hands on the ball twice...after it hit him in the chest. That's a ball he catches 99 times out of 100. Wilson had a highly contested catch there which is why I said Tua shouldn't have thrown, but the pressure he was under plus the angle he releases it at, Tua probably was aiming out of bounds and the hit brought the ball back into play.

Bad pass- but it was one play in a game we won. It's water under the bridge.

This reminds me of story I heard a long time ago. Former Syracuse coach Dick McPherson told an account of a time when Jim Tressel (then Syracuse's offensive coordinator) ran a sweep 10 times in a row against an opponent. Every time they ran it, they got a first down. McPherson grew frustrated and asked his OC if he knew any other plays.

"Sure, Coach," Tressel replied. "I'm just waiting for them to stop this one first."

I agree that the Brissett play won't work frequently now that teams have seen it, BTW. The beauty of it is that in the future, he can take the snap, jab step toward the line, and throw a screen or a slant for a lot of yards.

Yeah that INT was Tua's fault. You don't throw the ball up like that. Either way, the most important thing about Tua today was that he showed improvement. If that wasn't there we'd be in real trouble. As others have said I'm not worried. Also, he showed today he can make those mid-range passes. Last year it was a real worry whether all he could do was dink and dunk.

Hopefully by years end we'll see a different Tua. One you can actually rely on to win. He was nowhere near that QB today. But one step at a time: improvement is good enough for game 1.

I came away feeling nothing.I never see us going deep into the playoffs with this guy as Qb.
    I don't see any upside.
Howard doesn't make that play we lose because of tua.
