Miami struggled in game one but found a way to win in Foxborough.
In game two Miami suffered their own home-opening defeated when they were crushed by Buffalo - for Tua it was literal - and the OL was utterly humiliated.
Now it's time for game three in Las Vegas.

Backup QB Jacoby Brissett will be starting (with Reid Sinnett now backing him up) and has had a week to prepare to be QB1. The coaches and team have had a week to take a hard look at themselves and find a different Miami.

Las Vegas have been able to win, but they haven't look invincible. Far from it, they've looked beatable both times, yet still managed to win in the end.

For my part, I saw the game against the Ravens and Carr took a lot of shots downfield that were almost intercepted. They looked vulnerable to a good secondary. The were able to run the ball a little, but this was a team that sought to win by making chunk plays through the air. To my mind that gives Miami a chance to defend well against the Raiders.

On the other hand, defensively they harassed the Ravens all game long. Maxx Crosby was an utter nuisance and found his way to the QB, or to pressure the QB, all game long. He has been making a name for himself in that way. Miami's OL were like a revolving door against Buffalo. They will be susceptible to pressure from LV if that same OL shows up here.

The Raider's D was frequently gashed by the Ravens' run attack. Then again, the Ravens have one of the best run attacks in the league. Their secondary was decent but not great. That being the case, Miami's offense might have a chance here if - and this is the key IF - a hungry and focused Brissett, an embarrassed and determined and re-jigged OL, and an overall angry Dolphins team, show up to play. IF Miami comes in ready to play hard and find a way to win, I think there are ways to do it here.

Miami CAN win this game. Whether or not they will is another matter. The other element here is the co-OC scenario in Miami which is also new. Who knows just what is going on behind the scenes there. Still, if the OC's can get out of their own way, Miami might have enough talent on O and D to earn a win in Las Vegas.

Another abysmal showing here might see some coaching changes mid-season. Who knows.

It's going to be an interesting game three.

    Fins up!

    G.

"Raiders Favored To Exact Revenge On Dolphins
The Las Vegas Raiders (2-0 SU, 2-0 ATS) hope to continue their strong start to the 2021 campaign on Sunday when they host the Miami Dolphins (1-1, 1-1) as small home favorites at Allegiant Stadium. The Raiders are favored for the first time this year after winning their first two games vs AFC North opponents as underdogs. The Dolphins beat them 26-25 in Week 16 of last season on a last-second field goal.

    Staff Betting Pick: Dolphins +3.5
This has three-point game written all over it, mainly because Las Vegas is due for a letdown after posting two huge victories to start the year. The Raiders have been a great story so far, but they could have easily lost either of their first two games – or both. Many sharps played a similar angle last week at Pittsburgh, and Vegas let them down. They were a week early, though, as the Raiders will need some luck to improve to 3-0 here."

Winners and Whiners - Miami Dolphins vs. Las Vegas Raiders Prediction, Preview, and Odds - 9-26-2021 (winnersandwhiners.com)

"The Miami Dolphins head back out onto the road on Sunday for an AFC tilt with the 2-0 Las Vegas Raiders. A trip to the Death Star in Vegas won’t come with any pleasantries if the Dolphins lose a second straight game. They were blown off the field in their home opener against an angry Buffalo Bills team last week. Meanwhile, the Raiders have toppled back-to-back playoff contenders in wins over the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens.

    Next man up in Miami
Jacoby Brissett has been in this situation before.

He knows what it’s like to get the call to go from backup to starting quarterback. It happened in both of his previous stops with the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts. And it’s happening once again in Miami with starter Tua Tagovailoa currently sidelined with fractured ribs.

Things got downright ugly last week with the Dolphins falling to the Buffalo Bills in a 35-0 loss in their home building. However, Brissett was thrown into the lineup on the fly against a good football team. We’ll see how he performs with an entire week of the team creating a game plan specifically around him as the starting quarterback.

It’s hard to judge the Raiders’ run defense with the numbers being skewed a bit thanks to that Week 1 game against the Baltimore Ravens, who run on everybody. They managed to tighten things up the following week against a Pittsburgh Steelers team that was held to only 39 yards on the ground.

Brissett is no Lamar Jackson, but he’s clearly capable of excelling at some of the same run option style plays. So it’ll be interesting if coach Brian Flores goes back to the film of that Ravens game and implements some of the same plays that worked against the Las Vegas defense.

Dolphins big-ticket free agent receiver Will Fuller practiced this week. So we’ll finally get a chance to see the dynamic trio of Fuller, Jaylen Waddle and Devante Parker on the field together.

But this game will be all about Miami’s defense against Raiders quarterback Derek Carr. Can they slow what looks to be a breakout season? All-Pro cornerback Xavien Howard and the Dolphins secondary have done a tremendous job of slowing down passing offenses. The run game, on the other hand, has been a problem for the men up front. It’s a good thing for them the Raiders can’t move the sticks on the ground.

    Raiders look for real
Derek Carr and the Raiders offense didn’t even have a running game last week with Josh Jacobs out of action, and it still didn’t stop him from throwing for 382 yards and two touchdowns on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

What’s not to like about back-to-back wins over the Steelers and Baltimore Ravens?

Carr will face another tough test against the Dolphins on Sunday. It’s always a challenge with Xavien Howard lurking in the defensive backfield. The Dolphins have the sort of secondary that will make Carr pay for any bad decisions.

Running back Josh Jacobs still being on the injury report is a problem for the Raiders as well. They currently have the third-worst rushing attack with the team averaging only 67 yards on the ground per game. It’s a problem for a Raiders team that needs to create some form of a balanced attack if they hope to contend for a championship.

Perhaps this will be the game where Peyton Barber and Kenyan Drake finally get up and running.

The Raiders defense has been an unsung hero at the start of the season, but they have to be sure not to underestimate Jacoby Brissett. He’s a wily veteran with a ton of experience. There’s also the fact that he’s always a threat to take off and run with the ball in his hands. The Raiders struggled with that dual aspect at quarterback significantly in their run-in with Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. We’ll see if they’ve managed to clean some things up ahead of their meeting with the Dolphins.

I don’t see anything good coming out of a situation with the Dolphins heading to Allegiant Stadium with Tua Tagovailoa out of the lineup. Make no mistake, Jacoby Brissett is a good backup quarterback, but his offenses lack the explosive plays necessary to go on the road and outduel Derek Carr, who is receiving early MVP mentions.

There’s just too much dependent on the Dolphins' defense for this game. Sure, Xavien Howard and the secondary has done well against the pass, but they’re also allowing an average 134 rushing yards per game, which is the fifth-worst in the league. The Raiders couldn’t move the ball on the ground mostly because they ran into a pair of top-10 run defenses in the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens right out of the gates.

Even against a Ravens defense with Pro Bowl corner Marlon Humphrey in the background, Carr aired the ball out for 435 passing yards, two touchdowns and only one interception. Something special is happening right now in Oakland, and I wouldn’t want to be the team standing in their way on Sunday. Miami is in trouble in this one.

    I’m laying the points.

    Prediction: Las Vegas Raiders (-4)"

    "Final Dolphins-Raiders Prediction & Pick
It’s just hard to trust the Dolphins to win a game against a red-hot Raiders squad, but we have seen crazier things happen before. There’s no way but up for Miami after getting shut out in Week 2 by Buffalo, and the Raiders could be due for a stumble. I say, take the Raiders to win but the Dolphins to cover."

USA Today - Miami Dolphins at Las Vegas Raiders odds, picks and prediction (usatoday.com)

    "Prediction
    Raiders 27, Dolphins 16

The RAIDERS -3.5 (-108) are a good play laying the points, especially since the Dolphins +3.5 (-112) will be without Tua.

In addition, Vegas will be missing Jacobs, but RB Kenyan Drake is expected to start. He was unceremoniously dumped in Oct. 2019 in a trade with the Arizona Cardinals for a low-round pick by, you guessed it, the Dolphins. He should be running with a chip on his shoulder, trying to deal the organization a little payback.

While the Raiders are 0-4 ATS in the past four as a favorite, they are a much different team this season. Expect them to buck this trend."

The raiders are one of those teams that can beat themselves. I'd take the 3.5.

I'm feeling like this is a rally point game for us, and we will prevail. Phins 20-16.

This is as close to a sure loss as I have ever seen. Maybe next week, or the week after, the Fins could have a chance to win this game, but Brissett isn't going to be able to step in and win on the road his first game as starter, particularly not when our whole offense was set up around a left-hander.

We'll be lucky to score 10 points today. Raiders 24-10 in an ugly, boring game. Kenyan Drake scores on us, Waller proves to be steadily unstoppable all day. We'll have our chances in this one, but it's not going to happen.

This is fair. They will try to run the ball early with Gaskin. Miami is going to throw 10+ bubble screens and swing passes that go nowhere. I expect them to play a babied down offense on the hope that the defense can create some turnovers.

It will be a boring game, especially on offense for Miami.

    24-10 is a good prediction.

I really think Jackson was just exhausted due to COVID. If he had just got beat, then maybe he's regressing...but he abandoned all fundamentals last week and was barely moving. I'm expecting a bounce-back performance from him today.
