I see a lot of people really praising this show, but I personally couldn't get through the 1st episode. I literally turned it off twice, tried to go back and just couldn't do it...I was bored silly since it starts off as a 50's sitcom.

Does it ever turn into a decent show with a MCU-type plot?

Its an extremely different show, and not to spoil anything, but there is a big shift about halfway through the series in every possible way. It gets "more MCU" towards the end. I really enjoyed it. You can check out our MCU thread to read more in there from a few of us.

    Just start with episode 3.

My dad had the same issue and I told him that the show really turns into a real show in episode 3 and he ended up enjoying it.

It got a lot better, but then the ending was stupid. Missed opportunity. Woke nonsense.

I dont want to add a spoiler, however the ending was ridiculous. Someone should have paid for all that criminal and abusive activity and yet it was some female empowerment nonsense. "They'll never know what you sacrificed for them?" And earlier, "She could have enslaved thousands more. " Oh... okay. Nevermind then. She's suffered, poor thing. Let's excuse everything. Erm... no. How about some justice, or something that makes sense.

It was a really promising show that ends up wasted.

Obviously, we all have our tastes, but as someone who's VERY into the MCU, I really liked it. Its absolutely worth following through and finishing.

if you haven't been spoiled it has one of the best easter eggs. Though, I would be surprised if you haven't been spoiled.

I watched episode 3 as you guys instructed and it's starting to make more sense- that's what I figured was going on anyway. I'll finish it out over the next couple days and let you guys know what I think!

About this particular series, I haven't read anything about where it's going or what's going on. The start of episode 4 is confusing the heck out of me though!

I went in knowing as little as I possibly could, and was glad that I did. I figured some things out as I went, was pleasantly surprised by others, and then looked everything up once I was finished to get the full picture.

My love of Nick at Night got me through the first two episodes.

IMO they should have had the big reveal half way through episode 1. They are asking a lot of the audience to watch two homages to old sitcoms with just little tiny clues something is going on.

I completely agree. I watched 3 thru 6 last night and I was like, "Oh, okay....this is a Marvel thing!" Then, "Oh, they're going to intentionally poke at the bear in Wanda...this will surely end well!" I really like it now.

I finished it off this evening and of course, I have some questions. The biggest being, "Why not just start over now that you know more than before?"

I'll think on it for a day or two before reading spoilers and such...it did turn out to be a very good series.

How did you like the Agatha Hartness reveal?

IMO, that was an amazing reveal with a good song.

However, the song made it look like she was the mastermind behind everything instead of a person who is trying to figure out what is happening so that she can steal the powers.

Which was fine, but sort of disappointing to me. I know it would have been Joker's plan from the Dark Knight kind of stupid, but it would have been really cool to me that she set everything up and was a true mastermind instead of a villain who is mostly kind of a jerk.

Also, The Dark Knight is one of my favorite movies of all time and I love the Joker in that movie. It is just if you think about his plan logically, it makes zero sense and should have no chance of working. It would take weeks working around the clock to build a pyramid of money that big just to burn it.

I didn't know who she was- never crossed paths with that storyline when I collected comics in the 80's and early 90's. However, I found this online and I'm wondering if this sets up season two:

Eventually, Salem's Seven took over the New Salem community again. They captured Agatha and killed her by burning her at the stake. In an ensuing battle between the Scarlet Witch, and Salem's Seven, the entire community's energies were drawn into Vertigo of the Seven, who lost control of them. Wanda managed to capture some of the energy and funnel it away, but the entire town was still decimated. Wanda channelled the remaining energy to set in motion her becoming pregnant with her synthezoid husband's children.[27]

Later, Agatha resurfaced, avoiding explanations for her return. She claimed that Scarlet Witch's children were actually fragments of the soul of Mephisto and wiped Wanda's memory of her children rather than fight to free the two from Mephisto when he reabsorbed the two.[28]

She went on to aid other mystics in a number of crisis situations, and trained Wanda further in the use of her powers, claiming that her mutant ability was actually to use "chaos magic" and helped fully resurrect the Avenger Wonder Man.[29]

As a child I always loved Wonder Man. Would be interesting if he were to come into the MCU.

Yeah the formatting of the first 2 episodes was a struggle, but it was definitely worth it to get through till the end. Lots of the marvel shows are setting up and playing with the idea of powerful beings who are getting exposed to the multiverse.

Personally, outside the first 2 episodes, I enjoyed it more than Falcon and Winter Soldier (which was fine), but not as much as Loki. What If ... is pretty rad as well, though only tangentially related (if that even) so far.

I'm going to agree with you.
I'm not a huge superhero guy who goes to comic-con or anything, but I have seen every marvel movie of the past decade or so with the exception of Black Widow. I also have watched every single series on Disney including the new Ms Marvel (which was OK but I didn't love). Wandavision? I got through the first episode but I found it boring also. Started watching Episode 2, got 10 minutes into it and quit. Figured I'd fast forward and start watching episode 3 to see if there was anything I liked, got 5 minutes into and and said to myself "why am I doing this, I have zero interest in this" and that was all for me.
I get that its a 'different' type of series, I guess just not for everyone.

By midway through the 3rd episode, it starts making some sense and stops being a 50's sitcom. By episode 4, I was hooked and the last few episodes are some of the best Marvel/Disney+ I've ever seen.

Skip the 1st two episodes completely and give #3 another try. Nothing in that is what it seems, and it's really one of the most intriguing storylines for that era of the Marvel universe. It just takes a while to start building up steam. Once it does though, wow!

Thinking back, I do sort of agree with your take. What happened was wrong. But how do you punish for it? That would be a whole other thing, especially in light of Dr. Strange II. I don't think they could have punished Wanda even if they wanted to, which is why I "accepted" the ending.

But yeah, it certainly wasn't one of those "no harm, no foul" types of moments.

Wandavision was absolutely something that you had to understand was going to be weird/off/different, and that it would take a while to explain itself and get going. If anyone thought that it would hit the ground running in episode one, I guess that they would be disappointed.
