    Hi Guys,

I just wanted to share something with you by way of a reminder or moment of perspective.

I've been a member of a UK based tech forum for over a decade. Yesterday I saw a recent post from a long-standing member that was something of a shock.

He was letting everyone know that a little time ago he was diagnosed with an advanced form of cancer that is inoperable and terminal. The doctors have given him months to live. He's 37. Wife. Two daughters, 7 and 9.

    How quickly things can change.

It's a strange experience, everyone is chatting with him in the thread. He's in good humour, calm, open, and still enjoying a joke, but he's saying his goodbyes and it's a weird feeling knowing that, a miracle not withstanding, he's a dead man walking.
Then again, in one way or another, we all are.

Things with the Dolphins have been pretty rubbish lately.

See how odd that sounds in this context?

The Dolphins/NFL can be a source of joy, but in the big scheme of things - the things that count the most are all around you, even on these forums. The people in your lives.

Enjoy the day guys. Try to appreciate all the little things, joys, happinesses, laughs, that make up your life. Cherish all the beauty, no matter how small.

We're all just one step away from much bigger things.

Try to let those truly beautiful things become the biggest things in your life, each day, and let the small stuff come and go.

Fins up guys, enjoy this day, blessings to you all!

(And if you ever have something not quite right, go and get it checked out.)

One of my older clients is what they call a "high performance coach", or someone that helps elite people get the most out of their lives. Think professional athletes, CEOs of major companies, etc....people who are super busy in their professional lives and always searching for more time. And what my client Steve does is analyze their lives, studies their actual workday, personal life, etc. and helps them structure it so they're focused on what actually matters.

But what actually matters? Folks, it's not the Miami Dolphins or even this forum. We come here to talk about the team we love, but a lot of us are too emotionally invested. What matters is family, relationships and whatever lets your find happiness each day, plus reaching all your dreams and goals as well. Steve basically teaches that time is your most valuable asset- it's the only thing in life that you can't get back- and you must use your time wisely. Maybe that means watching less TV, or maybe it's spending less time doing trivial things at work just because it's become part of your daily routine.

But whatever those things are, you have the power to accept them as fulfilling in your life, to reject them as a waste of time or alter those activities so it brings the right life balance. Use your time for what actually matters to you, what fulfills you and brings pure happiness.

I love this forum, and so many of you here are genuine friends. But this forum is also toxic at times and I need to learn to reject getting into senseless arguments that just don't matter. I bring that up to say that the Dolphins really don't matter...don't be overly emotionally invested in something that doesn't bring you happiness. The wins are great and we all want that big season, but the losses...they're just losses and we have no control over that. Just let that anger go and do something else in life that makes you happy, makes you more complete as a person.

Anyway, that just felt like it fit here. My client's website is https://www.stevengriffith.com if you want to take a look.

As much as I’m a grumpy old man on these forums, the Dolphins are a fun outlet but never impact my life either way. It would be nice to see a super bowl win in my lifetime but I spend most of my time and energy focusing on what I can control and how I can improve my life, when I’m not b****ing about Tua and Grier

Well said. I don’t know who you’re talking about but wishing that poster and his family all the best.
