It’s officially over mathematically and emotionally. The Dolphins are bottom dwellers this year. Even if they WON every game here out they would not be in the playoffs. They wont win every game and they will not be in the playoffs this year. So Year Three is a BUST the organization under Flores and Grier has moved backward each year and in a year where our Division Rivals are struggling as well except Buffalo we **** the bed again.

Ross needs to man up and I’m sure someone is going to say well who would coach or who would be bring in now. NONE OF THAT MATTERS anymore. IF Ross would fire them today and begin the process for next year we would be in a better place than we are in now.

Flores has lost the team they came back sure against and AWFUL falcons team and still LOST.

Flores can’t stay regardless of how nice he is, he hasn’t been able to put together any consistency on any side of the ball or is not being allowed to for some reason.

I have officially given up on the Phins for the remainder of the year and I’m taking a mental break from them. Every losing out gives me no hope as we have to give that pick away so were screwed either way.

1 thing that has to be done is that the scouting team which has remained in place through coaching changes needs to be replaced TOP TO BOTTOM they have failed.

I believe if we fire them all now, we are at least showing someone who might be willing to come in that we’re ALL in on a complete rebuild. New GM / New Coach / and Scouts this is our only way out of this mess.

Sorry to be a downer, and for posting negative stuff but I am over them and their losing ways now. They make it so hard to be a fan. I been through way to many bad times with little to no good times in 25 years of watching them… I need to step away before I lose the love of the game!

Yeah Flores and Grier have failed that's for sure. I mean losing to Jacksonville AND Atlanta isn't excusable. Ross needs to clean house. Will he do it? I think he will if we have a bad enough record at the end. Ross is usually on a 3-3.5 year clock for coaches, so I think cleaning house again is a realistic possibility, assuming we don't miraculously come back and win a ton.

Hate to say it but I really don’t care anymore. I’ve just accepted the fact that we’re one of the worst run franchises in the NFL and until Ross dies, that’s not changing.

Who could Miami beat at this point? Maybe the Jets at home? The Giants? In year three, Miami will STRUGGLE to win five games on the season. That's insane given how bad that 2019 roster was, but two years of building and we will have the same or worse record.

There isn't a coach on the team worth putting in at HC if they fire Flores, and if Ross keeps him through the end of the year, the media will be far less critical if he's fired and we quickly make a move on someone else.

I am absolutely for every single person in football ops to be cleaned out after the year. Every single one. But do it in January.

The sooner you do it, the more time you have to consider who is available. Wait till the end of the season and you are scrambling and competing with all the other teams that fired their head coach on Black Monday. Plus, since we need a new GM, you need even more time to hire them and then begin a coach search.

I could see waiting for the bye-week to fire Grier, but that's about the latest you can wait.

The "new GM" is probably an internal hire - Allen or McKenzie. I'd make that move today and let them get to work on cleaning house and getting new people in.

Unlucky is correct in that firing Flores at this point is little to gain with much to lose. We have nobody worth promoting to even a temporary gig, at least Flores can run practices and such. I don't think we gain that much by firing him early, most of the best candidates are still coaching into the playoffs anyway. Unless Ross has an absolute target in mind and ready to go, just let the season play out barring the team quitting. We are losing, but I don't think they have quit.

Well, if we're doing it no matter what then you'd better believe that Ross is already looking. We know his #1 choice is Harbaugh and that probably won't happen, so hopefully he places a little more trust in football leaders this time.

if we do that late in the season does that hamper our ability to get the right GM and coaching staff and scouts? Won’t some of them already be comitted? I don’t want a single excuse as to why we couldn’t land x or y

why would we hire from internal when it’s been proven year over year we don’t have good talent in that front office! I think this would be a lateral move

It depends on who Ross is talking to as far as GM goes. For example. my #1 choice is Thomas Dimitroff, formerly of Atlanta. So lets say that Ross makes contact with him at some point between now and January and he says that he's interested, he could get a reassurance that he'll wait until the interview process and give the Fins time.

Also, remember that the team needs to interview at least one minority candidate for both GM and HC. Even if they have specific targets in mind, they aren't allowed to bypass that system. But I do think that the media and public will be less likely to have a fit if they give Flores the whole year to prove that he deserves to be fired and then move on.

It really only makes sense if Ross has an absolute target (say, Harbaugh) and has a handshake agreement to bring him as soon as the season ends. Otherwise, wait till the end of the season. I could be wrong, but I believe you can't interview or hire from teams actively playing. So just because you fire a coach in week 8 doesn't mean we can immediately bring in a bunch of dudes for interviews.

Also to be clear, I'm referring to the regular season only.

Neither are long-time Phins members. Allen came on in 2019 after a stint with the Bills including drafting Josh Allen and Tremaine Edmunds. McKenzie was also a 2019 hire iirc, and was involved in the drafting of Carr and Mack. How active they were in some of our bad decisions vs. Grier vs. Flores I have no idea. But if you ask me, it's likely we go that direction rather than wiping out literally everything and bringing in someone entirely new. I'm more interested in fixing whatever the hell is wrong with our OL drafting than anything though.

That's not how it works. If you want to hire within the league, you need permission to talk to any coach or GM during the season. Teams don't want to lose coordinators mid-year, especially winning teams, so they just say "no" and there's nothing we can do about it. So your idea of firing today gives us some sort of advantage is 100% wrong. If anything, it puts us in an even worse position.

Second, saying all the scouts have failed is ridiculous. Scouts go out and scout- they don't pick players. Each scout gives reports and the front office decides how much faith to put into each report. I'm sure whoever scouted Burrow said to draft Burrow. I'm sure whoever scouted Herbert said to draft Herbert. That happens in every NFL organization that way.

Third, your idea to "fire everyone" is also a terrible idea. We've had a lot of turnover already and if you remember, our two top candidates turned down the GM job before it was given to Grier. Why? Because of the "fire everyone" mentality after a bad season. Nobody wants to be tied to that type of organization because it's career suicide.

Plain and simple, the Miami Dolphins are a business. We have some good staff members and some bad ones, just like every business in the country. You don't fire your entire team based on a bad month because that means the following month is going to be 100x worse.

Yes exactly. If the Fins fire Flores, they can only promote from within until after Week 18. No one from outside, including from the college level, can be hired during the regular season.

Fire Grier, find a new GM, let them decided what to do with Flores -which can wait till the end of the season if need be. Firing a coach with a 4-13 record won't look all that bad.

Blah blah blah is all I hear and you may be right lol but this team has t just had a bad month that I could live with it’s been like 22 years man of the same issues over and over regardless of who the coach is or who the coordinator is. Giving Flores another year what for? If he stays we will have to hire a new offensive and defense coordinator for sure and that means another year of growing pains and another system for the QB. Firing them now has no effect on this season let the ball boy coach them who care we are not winning let’s pkY all the young guys and get them ready for next year or at least know who is worth keeping. This team is trash and the scouting department has been the only constant around here and we have consistently sucked.

I did not know this I wasn’t saying hire a new coach today but when the time comes we already are ready to
Are the moves instead of waiting for the season to be over and college coaches already working on new job offers
