Dude, it's called modern journalism....and it completely stinks....but that's why the world is at such odds on EVERYTHING.

Think about all the topics we can't discuss on this site; religion, politics, social causes, etc. Then think about how all of us hear unique versions of the news depending on our beliefs. If you like something, then you see more of that from Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, Amazon, news feeds on your smartphone, etc. Everything is customized to you and that's a very, very bad thing. As a society, we're being told all around us to stop being objective and not to look at all angles.

The good news? The trade deadline is in 7 days. Regardless of who said what, Watson doesn't look motivated to settle anything lawsuit-related in the next week. There's really no story here at all- only context.

This is such an embarrassment. Ross literally wants things that he cannot have.

I feel like this is like a lawyer going in and asking a judge what his client's sentence will be before the judge even knows what the charges are going to be.

This encapsulates the organizational thinking as a whole. It is common knowledge that these charges and a league punishment are looming. Addressing these concerns should have been STEP 1. If we were uncomfortable with this uncertainty, we should have never engaged in these trade talks to being with. If we felt that the risk was worth the reward, we should have then decided EXACTLY how much we would be willing to risk in terms of compensation, and THEN proceeded to negotiate.

This is like publicly negotiating to buy a rare and expensive car, agreeing on a price, and then not buying the car. Negotiating in bad faith will tarnish your reputation. Could you imagine what will happen the next time you walk into a dealership? Of course, the staff will not take you seriously.

This is being handled so poorly.

Seriously, Flo's insistence on how committed he is to Tua falls flat every time I hear it. "Tua's our quarterback" doesn't answer any questions about whether the man who would trade his own mother if he could find one to do the same job for a lower salary has any loyalty to his most important player. He needs to show up to the podium in a Captain Obvious uniform.

"Mom is my mother. I told her that this morning."
"But would you trade or cut her if another woman was capable of doing her job for less compensation?"
"Look... I don't know how many times I have to say it. Mom has the job."

I think the "I don't not feel wanted" is actually quite clever. It's tua's way of putting Flo's non-commital BS back at him. Nobody's telling me they hate me but they're also not making me feel welcome.
It was his way of answering the "do you feel like you're not wanted" without saying "no of course not they love me"

If Ross was the driving force behind drafting Tua, then the driving force behind playing him before he was ready, and now is the main reason for these incessant Watson rumors, then he is even more of a clueless dolt than I thought.

    PS. Same goes for Grier

As much as I HATE to say it, it’ll be my position as well. If this idiotic move were to happen, I’ll be rooting for Tannehill and Henry

My only hope is that they don't trade for Watson AND keep Tua on the bench. I'd rather see him traded and that will give me an alternate team to root for (like Tenn and Tannehill).

lol.. I like how for so many posters a potential Watson trade is reason enough to stop being a fan. I agree this would be a disaster in the making, but I have no choice but to stay a Dolphins fan even if this move is made. Literally the ONLY reason I'm a Dolphins fan is the name. Change the name forget it. Keep it I'm a fan lol. Well.. maybe the only other red line for me would be the franchise officially saying the Miami "dolphin" is one of the uglier species of dolphin, like a river dolphin.. then I'm out!

Anyway, I don't see how any organization trades for Watson without clarity on the legal issues so I think this is all moot talk.

What a stupid ****ing franchise. WHO uses a top pick on a QB and does this before they have a chance to assess them? Like, it’s so stupid for Tua’s development. I’m about to go be a chargers fan so I can root for Herbert for the next 15 years. I’ve been a dolphins fan for over 25 years but Ross is a ****ing clown.

If Watson comes on board and lights it up I wonder how many "I'm done " proclaimers ease themselves back in . A fan is a fan so I can't fathom how being done with the Dolphins is even possible. We all waited a very long time to be relevant and IF that happens how can one just walk away from it all at that point.? Curious.

Every person has a level of morality. Some can root for someone who could possibly be the biggest sex offender in sports history and others cant. I think thats a pretty reasonable assumption to make. I know my wife has already told me shes not going to games anymore.

I can sympathize with this. Even if Watson doesn't come here, eventually.....At some point....It may take 5-10 years who knows? But at some point, we're going to get a box office dynamite talent on this roster again. So in other words...They may leave for a bit, but drafting an Arch Manning 4 years from now would bring them right back! Players/talent change the landscape of a franchise. Nobody was a Cavs fan before Lebron got there. Nobody was a Bulls fan after MJ retired. Nobody cares about the Patriots now that Brady is in Tampa. Of course fans would come back if a once in a lifetime talent ended up here in Miami and yes....That includes Deshaun Watson. If we trade for him and he lights it up and we're going to Super Bowls or damn near close every year, then yeah....All of this will fade to black. It wont feel right at first, but winning truly cures everything whether people admit that or not.

With ALLLLLLL that said, does that mean that I specifically want us to trade for Deshaun Watson? Not really....I mean last season he was my favorite player in the entire league! But I have faith in Tua first of all and secondly, Watson has got a hell of a black cloud shrouding him right now. It'll eventually go away the same way the Roethlisberger rape stuff went away, but not EVERYONE is going to forget it. Do I think Watson is innocent? Absolutely not. Neither was Ben Roethlisberger. That dude is/was a sleazeball all day. There are probably many more just like them all throughout sports. Players we personally may even love for what they do. They just haven't been caught or exposed yet. It's truly sad and it's also why I'm such a staunch Tua supporter. I want him to do well BECAUSE he's such a high character human being.

Because morality exists. I'm not a Dolphin fan if they knowingly make a sexual predator the face of the organization. Why would you be? There are other teams to root for. There are other sports to follow. I'm cannot care about a team don't respect. I've stood and cheered through losing seasons, crushing loses, etc... I still got that feeling last week. I still cared. I'm not cheering for Watson. Cannot do it. Will not do it.

Good post. And I've stated numerous times I'm not a Tua hater by no means but I'm also all for a Watson acquisition. If we stick with Tua through all this I'm good with it. He's a likeable guy and shows promise but a QB like Watson doesn't fall into your lap too often.

Tua gets traded to the Jets? :chuckle:

I'd be cool* with him going to the Saints though. It would be fun to see if he can become the next Drew Brees there. The Titans would be an easy team to cheer on this year; I'd be cool with another Rams-Titans Super Bowl.

Ross and company seem determined to crush my desire to be a fan of the Miami Dolphins. I might need to step away for a season or two if they mess it all up like I think they plan to. I could live through another rebuild, but keeping Grier, Flores, and then trading away a fortune in draft picks for Watson is a tough ask of the fans.

*Cool being defined as at least Tua would have a real chance to develop and be the best player he can be there. I have my doubts about him, but he stands very little chance to develop in Miami until we get a new owner or Ross stumbles upon a competent GM.

Where's there's smoke, there's fire. We've heard this same thing before with other such people such as Jameis Winston, Bill Cosby, Bill Clinton, Matt Lauer...on and on and on the list goes.

Now don't get me wrong, NFL players are no saints. Everyone has baggage but even if Watson is acquitted (assuming he's even indicted)...even if these civils suits are dismissed...no innocent person gets put into this position without behaving in such a way that draws this kind of attention from multiple people.

This "handshake trade" has been reported basically everywhere and yet we still don't know anything on it. What a terrible way for all parties involved to handle this whole ordeal. Just absolutely immature and awful.

Part of me wonders if we actually have minimal interest and just aren't refuting stuff or being stronger about it because of that New England secrecy culture where you don't let anything out of the bag or talk to the media even if it's obviously detrimental to the team and fans.

I saw a theory that both Houston and Watson zeroed in on this trait and are just shooting stuff into the ether because they know we wont put the hammer down on them.

That junk worked for one reason, Brady covered everything.

Journalism is t what it was many many years ago where it was a noble and honorable career where you would gather the facts before anyone or anything was written. The world was technically smaller and better for it. Now you have 6000 tv channels 400 million websites all considering themselves “journalists” and they are competing for media dialects to keep afloat. They need to be the “first” or the source for the “news” so they don’t do the proper due dillegance and investigations because it would mean someone else gets the clicks and credit. Also everything needs a click bait title in order to entice users to read their take on somethibg.

I have tried to source my materials for what I’m interested in from mostly a few sites and sadly I’m finding that most of my News is coming from outside the us anymore where there seems to be some integrity left and less political spin..

Here in Germany you've got the same problems almost all the news you get on TV you've got to double check and all of them have a political spin to them maybe not as bad as in the US but we'll get there, that's how it's always been...
