This. Ties shouldn't be ignored. They're a valid result. If the game was called off for some reason then ignore the result because it wouldn't have been played. But if the game was played, you have to pick the correct result. That includes considering ties. They're just so rare that I think people either forget them or expect that picking a win or loss is more likely to result in a correct pick rather than targetting a tie. Picking a game to result in a tie would be a high risk-high reward choice.
In the gambling world, a tie has no payouts and the bet is refunded. You can't "bet" for a tie in this format because it's such a longshot, and if that was an option then the payout would be astronomical; likely 100-1 or better. But in this pick-em, you don't get 100 wins for picking a tie; you just get one point...hence why nobody would ever pick that. So for what we're doing here, I think we should take Vegas rules and make all ties a non-bet.
Since there were 2 people that cared enough to post for each side, ya'll were no help in the decision. Either way I decided it didn't really matter from a statistics perspective, and just removed the game from the totals. I'll have the results posted after tonights game.
WTF???? Statistically, the Rams should be up 31-7 against the 49ers, not the other way around! Jesus, did any of the "winning" teams want to win this week???
