This is a game I hadn't seen before. What elation for the Dolphins fans and what a gut punch for Cowboys fans! Can't imagine going into work as a Cowboys fan after that.
I was 10 and didn't see many Phin's games since I wasn't local to Florida so watching prime time games was always a treat. That game was crazy and the ending so confusing but exhilarating for my younger self. So weird that Leon Lett has two of the all time great bonehead plays.
The game was fun, but I'll always remember it as the last one that we won that season, making it more of a sad memory than a joyful one. From 9-2 to 9-7.
I remember that like it was yesterday. I was sitting in my late father-in-law's den, all but ignored (thankfully) and focused on the screen of his old blurry tube TV, mad as could be for how the game was going. In the course of one play, I went from spitting bullets to jumping up, going nuts, and bringing unwanted attention to myself. Love it. It was one of those "OH, REALLY" moments like the Tuck Rule Play where something that I never considered wound up being significant in who won or lost. Thankfully, the good guys won that day. We should put Leon Lett in a ring of honor in one of the bathrooms.
Made even sweeter by that shot of Jerry Jones celebrating like an idiot, before realising what's happened.
I was at work, and some frustrated Dallas fans came out of the break room pissed. It was then I knew we had won, but I didn't know the manner of the win at the time.
